According to research, more people are getting involved with self organised sport (such as gyms), but as we will find from the interview with David Vallance, perhaps the true value of club sport is the lifelong friendships that are created. As Club President at West End Rowing Club in Auckland, David shares how his friendships in rowing converted across to sailing, and then brought them back to rowing. He also talks about how he missed out on the NZ youth squad because he wasn't sure about how serious they were on selecting him. It is an interesting scenario that has been covered a few times in recent interviews, and one that is discussed in more depth. To provide feedback on this episode, email me at [email protected] , or connect on the Insporation Podcast Facebook page.
