Intalere continues the discussion on MRI Safety; specifically the dangers MRI can pose on patients and staff. Joining us today is James S. Schmidt of Kopp Development, Inc. Jim will address MRI hazards including ferrous objects external to the body, implanted ferromagnetic objects, burns and the objects that cause burns, image artifacts, and devise malfunction. Jim will also discuss the 2005 ASTM International ‘Standard Practice for Marking Medical Devices and Other Items for Safety in the Magnetic Resonance Environment’ and its impact on MRI safety. Jim will also suggest available resources to address the issues of ferrous objects in MR.
