Well, hello my curious friends
0:00
and welcome to episode 84.
0:04
I want you to think about
0:04
what you want most in life.
0:08
Do you wanna lose weight? Quit your job, meet someone new.
0:11
Mend a relationship with your kids. Maybe your parents.
0:15
Get out of debt. Start your own business. Get out of a toxic relationship.
0:19
Maybe travel around the world. Feel comfortable meeting people.
0:23
Be better at making small talk. Okay?
0:26
Are you thinking about what you want most in. Now, ask yourself, What am I
0:29
willing to do to make this happen?
0:35
What am I willing to
0:35
feel to make this happen?
0:38
How uncomfortable am I willing
0:38
to get to make this happen?
0:43
Getting what you want from life
0:43
really isn't all that difficult.
0:47
When you make a point of asking yourself,
0:47
Well, what am I willing to do to get it?
0:52
Now, I'm not saying you're gonna
0:52
do something illegal or shady or be
0:55
mean or rude or whatever it might be
0:55
like, I'm not saying that, but what
1:00
are you willing to do to get it? The hardest part is actually being
1:02
willing to try anything, to try
1:06
everything in order to get what you.
1:11
Now, again, I'm not advocating
1:11
that you be mean horrible or
1:14
otherwise disgusting and demanding
1:14
in your pursuit of what you want.
1:17
That's not what I'm saying. You can still be an awesome
1:18
person, be kind, be caring, and
1:21
still get what you want from life. What I'm saying is that until
1:24
you're willing to get really
1:26
uncomfortable in your pursuit of
1:26
what you want, you will have trouble
1:30
attaining it no matter what you. Now I have recently been listening
1:34
to the Success Principles, How to
1:38
Get You From where you Are, to where
1:38
you want to be by Jack Canfield.
1:42
And in it he shares over 60
1:42
Fundamentals of Success, 60.
1:49
Don't worry, don't worry. I'm not gonna do all 60 in today's
1:50
show, but I will take you through my.
1:56
Take on the first, right? The first section. My favorites, the fundamentals of success.
2:01
Cause I think it's pretty important, right? These are actually really good things.
2:05
And I wanna chat a little bit
2:05
about with you, about how you
2:07
can leverage them in your life. Starting right now.
2:10
You're gonna start right today, right?
2:13
So I'm gonna list 'em all out, all
2:13
10, and then we're gonna go back and
2:15
I'll dive into each one individually.
2:18
Cause I think it's important to kind
2:18
of listen to them all out straight.
2:20
So here they go. Number one is take
2:21
responsibility for your. Number two is decide what you want.
2:27
Number three is believe it's possible. Number four is use the law of attraction.
2:32
Number five is release the breaks. Number six is act as if.
2:39
Number seven is experience your
2:39
fear and take action anyway.
2:43
Number eight is Ask, ask, ask.
2:47
Number nine is reject, reject.
2:50
And number 10 is commit to constant
2:50
and never ending improvement.
2:56
All right, so let's go back to the beginning. Number one, take a hundred percent
2:58
responsibility for your life.
3:02
Now, what does this mean? We've chatted about this
3:04
before on, on this show.
3:07
Taking responsible, taking
3:07
responsibility for your life means
3:10
that you don't blame anybody else for
3:10
the circumstances in your life, right?
3:16
It's not somebody else's
3:16
fault where you are, right?
3:19
You may think it's somebody
3:19
else's fault, okay?
3:22
But you can't blame it on
3:22
anybody else, and here's why.
3:25
Right? When you get down to the core of it,
3:26
the way that our brain works is that
3:31
we do have circumstances in our life.
3:33
Why get that? Right? Circumstances are something that
3:34
it is, uh, an event or something
3:38
that's happened that no one could
3:38
argue that it's not true, right?
3:43
It's a fact. You could go to, you can go into
3:44
court and say, Okay, yep, everybody
3:47
agrees is a hundred percent. 99% of the time, well, we'll call
3:49
it 95% of the time, what we think is
3:56
a circumstances, really our thought
3:56
about something and our thoughts then
4:01
generate feelings we have about it, and
4:01
then those feelings generate actions
4:06
in our life, which give us the results. So when you don't take a hundred
4:08
percent, uh, responsibility for your
4:12
life, you start blaming other people.
4:14
You start blaming your circumstances,
4:14
and it's really you're thinking
4:17
about your circumstances and your
4:17
feelings about your circumstances
4:21
that Jen give you what you want. So you gotta pivot out of that.
4:25
You gotta take a hundred percent
4:25
responsibility for everything that
4:27
you have in your life right now. That's up to you.
4:30
Okay. Number two, decide what you want.
4:34
So often when I'm talking to my
4:34
clients, I ask them this question.
4:37
I'm like, Well, what do you really want? And a lot of the time they
4:39
say, Well, you know what? I don't know.
4:43
And when you don't know what you want, if
4:43
you haven't decided what you want, it's
4:46
really hard to set goals to get there. Oftentimes, I'll hear people say,
4:48
Oh yeah, I set goals all the time.
4:51
I just can't achieve them. But when I dig a little bit deeper and I
4:52
ask them, Oh, what do you want from life?
4:55
What do you want? What do you really want? They're like, Well, I don't know.
4:59
Uh, it's really hard to set goals towards
4:59
something you don't know what you.
5:03
You gotta get really clear. Decide what you want, what
5:04
is it that you really want.
5:09
Number three, believe it's possible. Again, this goes back to our thoughts and
5:12
our feelings, but if we don't have belief
5:16
that something is actually possible,
5:16
if you don't have belief that you can
5:20
have a better relationship, that you
5:20
can mend fence with somebody that you
5:24
love, that you can communicate better,
5:24
that you can lose weight, that you
5:27
can be a better saver, that you can be
5:27
more in control of your finances, that
5:31
you can get what you want from life. If you don't believe it's possible,
5:32
it's really hard to attain it.
5:37
It's so hard to attain something
5:37
if you don't believe it's
5:40
possible from the get go. So once you decide what you want, you
5:42
have to believe that it's possible.
5:46
You have to set everything
5:46
aside and say, I can actually
5:49
envision myself having this. Like I can totally a hundred percent
5:51
believe that it's gonna take place.
5:54
So you have to believe it's possible. Number four, use the law of attraction.
6:00
I know for some of you, this might
6:00
seem like a little woo hoish,
6:03
but stick with me for a moment. All right.
6:05
The law of attraction means that you
6:05
actually put it out into the universe.
6:10
You have your thought process,
6:10
you put it out there, and once you
6:13
believe it's possible, you think
6:13
about it all the time, right?
6:16
The law of attraction's pretty simple. Think of it this way, Have you ever.
6:20
Decided that you want something new. Maybe it's a new car, for instance,
6:22
and you have a make and a model
6:27
that's in your mind, and all of a
6:27
sudden you see that make and model
6:31
everywhere on the road, right?
6:34
And. What happens is that's your brain
6:35
showing you what's possible,
6:39
showing you what's there. So when you start to think about what
6:41
you want, once you start to believe
6:45
what you want and you use the law of
6:45
attraction, your brain will figure
6:48
out a way to get you to get it right.
6:51
Your brain's primary job. There's two, two jobs that your brain has.
6:54
One is to keep you safe, which
6:54
is why it, Why is why change is
6:59
really hard and difficult, right? Your brain wants to keep you safe.
7:04
Built into history 10,000 years ago
7:04
was really about keeping you from
7:08
getting eaten, right, keeping you alive. And the other thing that your brain
7:10
does is to solve problems, right?
7:15
To answer questions for you. So that's really what the law of
7:17
attraction is, is it allows you to
7:20
say, if I believe this is true, and
7:20
I want to figure out how I go about
7:24
getting it, you tell your brain
7:24
what you want and it'll figure out
7:27
a way to get it because it's, its.
7:30
Number five, release the brakes. And what release the brakes means
7:32
is it goes back to, it goes back to
7:37
number four a little bit using a lot of
7:37
attraction and believing what you want.
7:40
But release the brakes is just
7:40
saying, I have no limitations.
7:44
Right. My circumstances in my life
7:45
currently don't limit me.
7:50
I, I can go after whatever I want. I can do whatever I.
7:55
Because when you start to believe
7:55
that, right, when you release the
7:58
breaks on everything that's going
7:58
on in your world, you, you, you
8:02
open up the world to possibilities.
8:04
So number five was release the breaks. You gotta just let go, let go and move on.
8:09
Number six, act as if
8:09
this one's kind of cool.
8:13
So one of the things that I do in my
8:13
morning routine is, , I go through a whole
8:18
practice of being grateful for what I do. Then I be, then I start to go
8:21
through a practice of being
8:23
grateful for what I will have.
8:25
But I say it as if I already have it.
8:29
So for me having an apartment in
8:29
a city near a sports team, right?
8:34
And also having a house out the beach
8:34
where I can watch the sunrise, where I
8:38
can spend some time in the, you know, with
8:38
my family in the big city and sometimes
8:42
at the beach, i, in my gratitude
8:42
practice, I act as if I already have.
8:48
I act as if I already have it, because
8:48
if you act as if you already have it,
8:52
if you can envision yourself in your
8:52
mind's eye already having what you
8:56
want, again, your brain will go after
8:56
it and figure out how to get it for you.
9:00
So you act as if you already have it.
9:04
That's number six. Number seven, experience
9:05
your fear and take action.
9:09
One of the things I say is doubt has
9:09
killed more dreams than failure because
9:13
if you doubt you can do something, if
9:13
you doubt that you actually can get
9:16
something, if you doubt that you can
9:16
do it you're not gonna do it right.
9:19
That's fear. That's fear speaking for you.
9:22
And when fear speaks for
9:22
you, you don't take action.
9:25
So you need to experience your fear.
9:27
And what I mean by that is you actually
9:27
have to feel it, feel what it feels like
9:31
in your body to be afraid to do something. Where does it live in your.
9:35
Where does that emotion fear live? And if you feel it and you move
9:37
through it, and you take action anyway,
9:43
it's what keeps you moving forward, so if you experience your fear and take
9:46
action anyway, , it sets you up for
9:50
success, so often we have to say, Oh,
9:50
I gotta be in the right frame of mind.
9:53
I have to feel good. My mind's gotta be good, my body has
9:54
to feel good, I have to feel awake.
9:56
But for me to take action on
9:56
anything in my life, the truth is
10:00
you gotta take action all the time. All the time.
10:04
You have to be taking action, and you gotta do it. Regardless of whether or
10:06
not you're afraid to do it.
10:08
Take a chance on yourself. You might surprise yourself.
10:12
Number eight. Ask. Ask. Ask.
10:14
And that's ask, Ask, ask. With exclamation points attached
10:16
to them is ask for what you want.
10:21
So often we're afraid to ask
10:21
for what we want because we're
10:23
afraid we're not gonna get it. We're afraid to be rejected.
10:29
But if you don't ask for what you
10:29
want, From anyone or anything in
10:33
your life, you'll never have a
10:33
chance of getting it . You don't know
10:37
what's possible if you don't ask. So ask, ask, ask, ask all
10:39
the time for what you want.
10:42
Advocate for yourself. I'm not saying to do it by like,
10:43
in a way that makes you seem like,
10:46
Oh, I'm, I'm entitled to this.
10:48
No, you're just curious. Just come at it from a place of curiosity.
10:52
I'm curious about if this is
10:52
possible, what might this look like?
10:58
Okay, number nine, reject rejection Again.
11:02
So often we don't take action
11:02
in our life because we're afraid
11:05
that we're gonna get rejected. Well, who cares if you don't ask for
11:06
what you want, if you don't get it?
11:10
So why go about it a different way,
11:10
but you have to reject rejection.
11:14
It's not really about you, it's
11:14
about the other person, which I
11:18
know is really hard to comprehend. But listen, when you ask for something
11:20
and somebody says no, it's not about.
11:25
It's really never about you. It's about them. It's about their thoughts and
11:27
feelings about what you've asked for.
11:30
It's them feeling afraid.
11:34
That's what it comes down
11:34
to, is just reject rejection.
11:37
Say, You know what, I'm gonna do it
11:37
anyway because even if I get rejected,
11:40
I'm gonna keep moving forward. And number 10, commit to constant and
11:42
never ending improvement my friends.
11:46
I think that's partly the reason
11:46
that you listen to this show.
11:49
Right to this podcast is that you want
11:49
to continue to improve in your life.
11:53
You want to use these snippets,
11:53
these weekly snippets of advice,
11:57
my thinking, my sharing for you,
11:57
because you are in a constant and
12:01
never ending path to improvement.
12:05
So keep doing that. Do it in all areas of your life.
12:08
Do it with what you wanna improve. Do it with what you wanna
12:09
learn, Whatever it may be.
12:12
Just commit to it. Commit to a constant and never
12:13
ending cycle of improvement,
12:16
because that's how we become better. And it what's, it's what makes
12:19
everything else underneath here.
12:21
The other nine principles easy.
12:24
All right? Maybe not easy, but doable because you put
12:24
it in the context of, if I keep improving,
12:29
I can get better at these things. And it's a cycle, right?
12:32
These 10 are a cycle. You're gonna get to a certain
12:34
point, you're gonna do it again for the next level and the
12:36
next level and the next level.
12:39
One of the things that I recently
12:39
learned from my own coach is she talked
12:43
about the example of a parking lot,
12:43
like in an airport parking lot, right?
12:47
Sometimes you may circle around
12:47
and not find any spots, right?
12:51
And then you go up to the next level. You may be doing the same
12:53
thing, but it's on another.
12:56
So if you keep coming back to the same
12:56
sort of things in your life, if you commit
13:00
to constant, never ending improvement
13:00
and you work on these other success
13:03
principles, you, you go to the next level.
13:05
You go to the third floor,
13:05
fifth floor, sixth floor.
13:07
I love the concept because even
13:07
though you're still circling,
13:10
it's at a different level. It's at a higher level because
13:11
you keep moving forward, right?
13:15
You keep moving forward, you keep
13:15
going upward, which I really love
13:19
that, that metaphor, that concept. All right.
13:22
Did you have a favorite success, Princip. Was it take a hundred percent
13:25
responsibility for your life?
13:28
Was it decide what you want? Believe it is possible.
13:31
Use the law of attraction. Release the breaks.
13:33
Act as if, experience your
13:33
fear and take action anyway.
13:37
Ask, ask, ask. Reject rejection or commit to
13:38
constant, never ending improvement.
13:41
Whereas one of those, your favorites. What about one goal you have in
13:44
your life right now that you're
13:46
doubting that you can achieve? If you have a favorite success principle,
13:50
if you have something you're, you're
13:52
wondering if you can achieve it, go
13:52
over to jason ramson.com/episode 84 and

toward, toward getting everything
14:08
you want from life and more. That's what I'm here for.
14:11
If you're tuning in, if you're
14:11
a fan of the show, hop on
14:14
over there and drop a comment. All right. My. That's a wrap on this week's episode,
14:17
and always remember, be willing,
14:22
be curious, and be intentional, and
14:22
until next week, keep doing the work.
