#TriCIntern

Cuyahoga Community College (Tri-C) offers associates degrees, certificate programs and bachelor’s degrees. They work with students at all points in their education careers – young college age students, workers coming back to the education space etc.

Tri-C has an internship program that they coordinate – at the time of this airing the deadline for employers to apply will have passed for the 2020 summer internship series.  However, I thought it would be important to share not only that program, but the other ways employers can work with Tri-C to get the candidates they need.

The internship is also part of the retention planning for students at Tri-C.  Students get paid for their summer experience and gain valuable skills in their majors.  Last year 89% of the internship students continued their enrollment in their fall classes. Tri-C offers a speed dating type job fair to pair the interns with companies.

Resources for everyone in the community: www.tri-c.edu/career-services

  • My Plan assessment tool - Tri-C has a self-guided assessment tool on their website for career exploration.  It gives results about personality types, interest and skills and offers suggestions on careers that match up with those criteria.  This is a FREE assessment that anyone can go and do on their website.
  • There is also a tool called the virtual job shadow – you can binge watch a “Day in the Life” of hundreds of careers.   “Sometimes what hurts students is you don’t know what you don’t know”
  • There are also career spot videos as well – provided by the career services area. For example, how to create a 30 second elevator speech, etc.
