Happy New Year!

We're kicking off the New Year with this conversation that Nancy Ainomugisha and I had for our collaboration exhibit, 'I See; I Breathe; I am!' at Surrey Art Gallery (September 17- December 11 2022). Our collaboration was part of a wider exhibition 'Concealed Cultures: Visualising the Black Vernacular' which was curated by the Blac Arts Centre, Vancouver.

In this episode, Nancy and I explore how we both have been navigating our identities as African Women in the diaspora (Nancy being Ugandan and I, Nigerian)  and the complexities that come with that. We explore that statement, "I'm not black...but I am" and the multifacetedness of our identities.
