Every spring, federal agencies must submit annual records management self-assessments (RMSAs) to the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), which houses about a quarter of the nation’s federal records. Those assessments have taken on new urgency and have grown in importance since President Barack Obama’s Managing Government Records Directive. Better identify gaps in existing records management programs to streamline efficiencies and meet federal mandates.
