Join us for a wonderful conversation with our guest Alyssa as she shares her childhood experience growing up a biracial child in the Midwest. She gives us a unique insight into her upbringing as well as her family life and ties.

Growing up mixed and mixed up is a biracial tsunami for any child being forced to weather that storm. Having a Black parent and a white parent almost guarantees that you will move into adulthood with some baggage to unpack. Whether it be finding your racial identity, unpacking internalized racial biases, or recognizing Anti-Blackness and dismantling a racist system you’ve believed in your whole life.

It’s made more difficult by the experiences that are taken from us, such as the loving ritual of having your Granny’s hands in your hair as a child or Saturday sounds of Gap Band and Bill Withers that you know meant "time to clean", etc.

This space is safe to unpack your baggage and lay down the sword and shield your white parent may have sewn into the fabric of your being, whether intentional or not.

You are enough, just as you are and we want to help you see that.
