Want to hire the best people? There is a process for this.

1. Don't involve friends and family.

Unless, of course, you have set clear tasks for them and they understand who is steering the boat. If your visions differ you need to know they won't be openly treating you like their little brother, but as their boss.

2. Always hire PERSONALITY over TALENT.

You can train someone to be better at their job, but personality is forever. If you have a toxic employee that is worse than if you have an employee that just needs a bit of training.

3. Don't wait for the new hire to come to you - GO TO THEM.

If you search using social media or other forms of connection online you can find the people you NEED. Instead of waiting for that perfect person to come to you, go find them.

4. What are your benefits?

A lot of the time candidates will go with a company, not because of the money, but because of the benefits. What do you offer that could possibly attract potential candidates to you?
