Blog—May 20, 2024---9-10—It’s YOUR Business
Our It’s YOUR Business Show---had a chance to talk financials in our 9-10 show---on the heels of a Monday show “The Report Card” and “The Remodelers Show”.

We started with Gary Popkes and Cameo Anders----Plains Commerce Bank---talking about with the school days ended----challenges out there on prices---what can those looking to save for tomorrow do?

Gary and Cameo talked about Education Planning now that school is out for the summer—utilizing certain types of education accounts/investments to save for children’s college/trade school tuition---building provisions into your estate plans/trust documents to provide for grandchildren’s/great- grandchildren’s education funding.
The summer vacations usually prompts people to update their estate plans in case something unfortunate happens.
Plus budgeting—investing—and what the general outlook is ---interest rates and yes valuations.
We wanted to know the kind of questions they have been getting at Plains Commerce----and what those looking to tomorrow should be doing.
Just plan----do it regularly---and paying attention is what makes the most sense. The answer for each family will be obviously be different.

Teddi Mueller---just finished with two weeks of the Spring Parade of Homes. Among the locations outside of Sioux Falls were Madison and Garretson. Remodelers-----builders----bankers----and realtors all very much interested. The trends that family can learn about what is in style---it’s a time you should mark your calendar if you want to look at what the builders association is doing and what you need to do to keep your home as livable and stylish as you can.

Corey Johnson—GA Johnson Construction---gave us a builders prospective on the parade---the need for scholarships for those interested in becoming part of the builders trade----and even though it was Mother’s Day Weekend and Graduation---the turnout was good for all those that were building---those that needed to look and wanted to ask questions.

As Mr. Johnson put it—the organization is constantly looking for the right set of hands---and mindset—to build homes—and this pair of weekends for Parade of Homes---in and out of Sioux Falls---is something to think about in future years—or ask your builder what they saw on this year’s Parade of Homes.

We closed the show with Tyler Tordsen—Sioux Metro---and with Patrick Andrews—Economic Development Director for the city of Brandon. Patrick Tyler was able to share---the population in his city was last listed at 11,048---and it is one of those six or so communities that are working together. These communities working together---is a dream for all of us. It allows this region of the state to develop---look to projects that help each other—and at the same time creates opportunities for more homes and more hands to works jobs in those communities as well as the 211,000 Sioux Falls---the state’s largest.

We will follow along—giving information on Monday’s that do not hold a report card or remodelers hour---and hopefully create the work together scenario that is truly something others should be working on.

Our It’s YOUR Business Show is now 44-82 in number---we talk business—we talk commerce---we talk working together—and couldn’t be happier to have a Sioux Metro group that meets looking for answers periodically.

The It’s YOUR Business Show has a podcast---posted my Norm Anderson----I write a blog----to go with it-----telling you were things are in the show. Want to contact me—feel free to go to [email protected] or call 605-728-2455.
