RATING
Jack of All Trades bills itself as a comedy horror and proceeds to lean so heavily into comedy that you forget its horror until the horror hits and your stomach is dropping in the most exhilarating way possible. I genuinely felt betrayed by the horror in this show and thats what I love most about it! All of the characters are incredibly written and acted and I am very close to taking up a second job to fund season 2 myself. This show is hilarious and horrifying and incredible!
Fun, imaginative podcast that (like Wolf 359) transforms from a workplace comedy to something more serious, dramatic and sinister as it goes. The fast-moving story has Jack, a queer woman, hired by a property management firm to be a troubleshooter. The trouble, however, involves various supernatural elements - of which the property management and her boss, the suave Edwith, may or may not be aware. The story builds nicely with lots of callbacks, and the final episode wraps up the storyline while leaving plenty of places to go in Season Two (I hope!).
Had me hooked by the end of the first episode! This is such a fun concept, with spunky characters you become grievously attached to very quickly. (They’re also queer if that sweetens the pot for you.) I was familiar with some of FN’s network shows so I decided to start poking at their originals and they’re fabulous, but this one especially I couldn’t put down. LOVE the worldbuilding — it starts out so innocuous and becomes increasingly weird, and the protagonist’s flustered-yet-compassionate attitude toward it all keeps you wanting more. The episodes aren’t too intimidating in length, either; perfect for a lunch break or a commute.Edit: The finale absolutely destroyed me. Looking forward to more!
I'm fine. I'm not at all feeling inferior as a creator after listening to this in one go. This is fine. I'm just gonna go lay down now.
