Welcome to

0:04

our gathering tonight. Here

0:17

we share stories of ordinary people

0:19

who have experienced extraordinary things. Sit

0:22

back, relax, and warm yourself by

0:24

Jim Harold's Campfire. Welcome to the

0:26

Campfire. I am Jim Harold and

0:28

so glad to be with you

0:31

once again. And guess what? Campfire

0:34

is 15 years old. Yes,

0:36

we hit our 15th anniversary this past

0:39

Tuesday. We'll have a special episode later

0:41

in the month to commemorate that. And

0:44

I don't think it would be right to mark such

0:46

occasion without thanking some special folks. First

0:49

and foremost, our storytellers. Without our

0:51

storytellers, we wouldn't have our show. Of

0:54

course, you the listeners. I

0:56

appreciate it very, very much.

0:58

Our sponsors, because they make

1:00

this show possible. Our Plus

1:03

Club members and everybody

1:05

who is on the Jim Harold

1:07

team, whether we worked with them

1:09

on a small project or they've

1:11

been with us a long time.

1:14

Of course, we thank Maddie

1:16

and my wife, Dar, because without Dar,

1:19

none of this would have happened even

1:21

though she's only officially been on our

1:23

team for the last several

1:25

months. She's been on my team from day

1:27

one. And of course, my kids and

1:30

my family. And again,

1:32

you, thank you so much. So

1:34

if you are here and you're new, welcome

1:37

to the party. This is

1:39

where you get real ghost

1:41

stories, spooky stories of, as

1:43

I said, ghosts, UFOs, cryptids. They

1:46

are real and they are fascinating. And

1:49

welcome to our program. And

1:51

did anybody else get to see the eclipse? Talk

1:53

about a supernatural moment. It just

1:56

was very profound. And like

1:58

so many millions of people. I

2:00

was touched by it here in Ohio.

2:02

we had the the full totality so

2:04

we got see the actual full black

2:06

out of the sun. Really knew he

2:09

still saw that great ring that you've

2:11

seen in the media and all those

2:13

pictures and I just gotta say it

2:15

was truly. You. Know, In a

2:17

world of a lot of repetition, you

2:20

know they're very few things that stand

2:22

out as totally unique in one's life.

2:24

and this is one of those things.

2:26

And I am so glad I got

2:28

to see it and so blessed that

2:30

I can seen. I hope wherever you

2:32

are you got to see at least

2:35

some of it. And it was pretty

2:37

cool and you're pretty cool to for

2:39

tuning in. We appreciate it and now

2:41

let's get to those campfire stories. Terror

2:43

from Colorado is on wine. Her and

2:45

her son Crispin states. A bully. Listen

2:47

to the show And Crispin I know

2:50

you recently had a birthday a fifth

2:52

birthday so thank you for listening and

2:54

stay. He spooky and Terror is gonna

2:57

tell us so about a very interesting

2:59

story. This is unique. I don't think

3:01

we've heard anything like it in the

3:03

almost fifteen years of the Campfire Parrot.

3:06

Tell us when happen and thank you

3:08

for joining us and thanks to Crispin

3:10

to. Thank you

3:12

so much! And so this story took

3:15

place when I was a bow. And.

3:17

Nineteen years, all it's. Ah

3:19

I'm an at the time I

3:22

had a friend named Theresa who

3:24

was doing and homecare. Arm

3:26

for a twenty something guy.

3:28

Named sign who had special

3:30

needs. An. Avatar

3:33

their ally And you know that because

3:35

it ended up being heard. House

3:37

To. I'm seated round the clock.

3:40

Claire round the clock. Care on.

3:43

And I ended up getting pretty close to sign.

3:45

I'd say we hit it off pretty well. Ah

3:48

I'm and sign last non

3:50

verbal. Ah by it. she

3:52

used a device to communicate marine. This

3:55

is about. It's called an Assist of

3:57

Devices Net. E. S.

3:59

E. Then he. And he

4:01

was actually a really amazing writer

4:04

Hero really beautiful poetry about. Ten

4:07

of his experience and the world's arms. He

4:09

uses a really. Really? Interesting

4:11

guy. And denied

4:13

I really hit it off with him.

4:15

I say I got pretty close with

4:17

him My was visiting my friend Teresa.

4:20

Ah, So. Assets Nine

4:23

That this story. Takes Place.

4:25

I was back at my

4:27

apartment in college. And.

4:29

My mom lives back in

4:31

Texas. Ah, my grandfather was

4:33

doing really bad. Ah,

4:36

Him and he was actually in a

4:38

coma and you know I was her

4:40

looking like you know any day now.

4:43

I'm going to be a

4:45

him passing. On.

4:48

So we had called said you know, say

4:50

goodbye while he that in. The coal mine.

4:52

We're just kinda waiting to hear the news. That

4:54

he had passed. On.

4:57

So she ended up calling need

4:59

to let me know that she

5:01

had died. Ah, I'm

5:03

and I in. I didn't even tell

5:05

my roommate say just went out to

5:07

yeah it was early of back porch

5:09

it was like a stoop. I was

5:11

sitting back there and. He has

5:13

his. Crying. On

5:16

and I got a

5:18

phone call from Theresa.

5:20

And you know she heard me crying and asked

5:22

what was wrong and I told her that I

5:25

just found out my grandfather had died. And

5:27

She said. You. Know I. Was.

5:30

Sitting on the couch with son and as

5:33

as result sitting on the couch with sign

5:35

and. And. He that and

5:37

of agitated and started planning for it

5:39

says the race and and indicating that

5:41

he wanted to tell her something So

5:44

he brought his device over an Easter

5:46

it's typing out Sad day for Terror.

5:48

And I'm Tara he said typing out

5:51

sad Day for Terrorists Sad Day for

5:53

Terrorists over and over. Ah so sorry.

5:55

Say that Xenon should I give Tara

5:57

Paul and he says yes. So

6:01

she called me. and she probably called

6:03

me within five to ten minutes of

6:06

need wyoming out that the I'm father

6:08

had passed away. Hell is. A.

6:11

Very. Very

6:13

powerful. Yeah, I. I appreciated her

6:15

calling and I. Really? Appreciated.

6:18

Song. Letting her know that I

6:21

needed I needed some support. You

6:24

know? Ah, I'm wondering if this

6:26

might play into known a detour

6:28

opinion. When

6:30

somebody has. A

6:32

physical challenge or whatever it may

6:35

be like would say someone who

6:37

has hearing issue their death but

6:39

they have a really great eyesight

6:42

or vice versa. Somebody is blind

6:44

but they have incredible during see.

6:46

Think it's possible that Sean situation.

6:49

Facilitated. That tuned in this? Do

6:52

you think that's a possibility? As

6:54

yeah, that's what I was thinking at. The

6:56

time on Dina. He.

6:59

Yeah, he gave the impression that he.

7:02

Ah, Maybe was connected

7:05

to something? That.

7:07

Ah, The rest of us have a

7:09

hard time accessing. And. He

7:11

I started my thought to.

7:14

Nail. Yeah, exactly exactly. And

7:16

I mean what other explanation is

7:18

there For months? There is no

7:20

right or explanation. For

7:23

Gray so he had to be tuned

7:25

in. He had to be Saturday when.

7:27

Wow, that is neat. Story is very

7:29

unique and that's the thing Elizabeth campfires.

7:31

Much as you think all we've heard

7:33

it all in every stories the same

7:35

which is not true or something like

7:37

that. Then someone cause we've had back

7:39

to back calls Earlier today I have

7:41

another call from something I've never heard

7:43

before. Error is the thing

7:46

is is that that's why wouldn't have

7:48

a camera. There so many interesting experiences

7:50

up there so you have any that

7:52

final thoughts on the experience. Ah,

7:56

just that yeah I.

7:59

I was. Blown away by

8:01

the timing of the call and I

8:03

was, you know, very appreciative that. They

8:06

had both reached out at that time. I'm.

8:09

In, I didn't feel really lonely

8:12

when he hear somebody passing a

8:14

families with them. On

8:16

the and I died. It meant

8:18

so much to me that there cause. Missouri.

8:23

Thera. Thank you so much! I know he

8:25

have a bit of a head scratcher force

8:27

and will get that next time we talk,

8:29

but I appreciate you being a part of

8:31

the campfire. Thank you so

8:34

much Gym! Next. Above a

8:36

campfire. We have a return color.

8:38

Sarah is bad you might remember

8:40

seats. Are to as a while

8:43

back about working in a haunted

8:45

spots and today she has a

8:47

doppelganger story. Sarah. Welcome back to

8:49

the show! Thanks for joining us and tell us

8:51

what happened. And it,

8:53

and yes, Ah So I

8:55

recently moved in. Ah. With.

8:58

My boyfriend. And he

9:00

works a lot And that you know?

9:02

that's nothing new, but. I

9:04

was home one day. I came home about

9:06

four thirty pm. Now getting myself

9:09

ready for work the next stage during

9:11

regular thing about bite way to acquire

9:13

a buddy tell that had literally been

9:15

whole maybe ten or fifteen minutes during

9:17

some tours and I hear the garage

9:19

door open. And. As

9:21

for my boyfriend comes in and I thought

9:24

that's weird He's home so early because you

9:26

know, usually doesn't get home to about seven

9:28

pm, right? And he does construction in the

9:30

A. Later. Afternoon sets important

9:32

so I thought okay the strain say

9:34

open the bedroom door which faces. The

9:37

garage door. When. It opened the

9:39

bedroom door. I saw him.

9:42

On up and down the hallway and he just

9:44

looks at me and I looked at him like

9:46

kind of confused as he was. Pregnant.

9:49

With him. But. He looked like

9:51

he was confused or something and so.

9:53

He. Books We made eye contact. He.

9:56

turns around and goes back in the

9:58

garage i thought okay maybe forgot something

10:00

in the car. I give him a minute, but

10:03

he never came back. So I

10:05

went in the garage and it's empty. Not

10:08

a car. So I thought, okay, he must

10:10

have left, you know, got something and left.

10:13

So he called him on the phone. And

10:15

he said, Hey, what's up? And I said,

10:17

Hey, where did you go? And he was like, What are you talking

10:19

about? And I said, Well, you were just here. And he's like,

10:21

No, I'm he's there's a town about

10:23

30 minutes from us called Galasdale,

10:26

which he's working in at

10:28

the time. And so he said, No, I'm out here in

10:30

Galasdale working with my brothers. And I said, Are

10:33

you kidding? And he said, No. And then when

10:36

he said no, I could hear tools in

10:38

the background. I hear his brothers talking like

10:40

he is out there. And I

10:43

said, Okay, I just felt like I

10:45

didn't want to tell them what just happened. So I just

10:47

hung up the phone. And I was so

10:50

scared, because I literally

10:52

saw him, full body

10:55

looking at me. And now that I look

10:57

back at it, I realized he looked

10:59

dead in the eyes. Because I looked at him, I kind

11:01

of looked at him like, confused,

11:03

like, why? He looked weird. And he

11:05

looked at me, and he did turn

11:08

back very slowly, he went to the

11:10

garage and you

11:12

know, a cousin of his has a key here.

11:14

So I told some friends,

11:16

like, Well, maybe he just saw his

11:18

cousin, right? No, I didn't.

11:20

Because the thing is, when he

11:22

does construction, he wears a

11:25

very distinct outfit to work outside.

11:28

And no one else would have this these clothes.

11:31

It's not like a blue jeans and a

11:33

black hoodie type of thing, you know, right? It's very

11:36

distinctive. So I said, No, I saw exactly

11:38

I know what he looks like. And it

11:41

was wild. So I'll be honest,

11:43

it frightened me. It's probably the scariest thing that's

11:46

ever happened to me, even though it was quick,

11:48

it was Yeah, I can understand

11:50

that because you're in your home. And

11:52

it's your boyfriend, you know, someone you care for

11:55

deeply and to think that

11:57

someone or something could just Pass

12:00

itself off as him. I could

12:03

see where that would be frightening That's

12:05

one thing if I go to the store and I

12:07

think I see him or something like that But when

12:10

it's in your home and you're alone and you see

12:12

you make eye contact this thing and

12:14

then they just turn around and leave I I Really

12:18

actually quite scared for it to happen

12:20

again. It's nice the first doppelganger Incident

12:24

I've ever had So

12:26

I don't really know what happened. I know it's not

12:28

really a sign of anything good

12:32

No, that's been that's been what

12:35

we've heard on this show that it's usually

12:37

not a fantastic thing The thing

12:39

is is that that that is one of

12:41

the categories That

12:44

I mean I was just like a little bit

12:46

familiar with when we started the show years ago

12:48

And I had no idea how many times this

12:50

happens to people and it's the weirdest thing I

12:53

mean because it's like a ghost

12:55

you can kind of say Okay,

12:58

I understand the concept of a ghost.

13:00

It's either a past loved one or

13:02

it's a spirit or you know And

13:04

there are other explanations, but you know

13:06

the kind of you understand that but

13:08

the doppelganger You're kind of like well,

13:10

what's that all about and you're left

13:12

with this huge question and Sarah

13:14

I wish I could answer it for you, but I can't

13:16

I don't know Me too and

13:19

I hope it never happens to you because

13:21

it is the weirdest feeling we've got to

13:23

be if the Confirmation that

13:25

that person was not there at

13:27

all and you saw full-body Version

13:30

of them. It's scary. Yep. Well

13:34

Sarah. Thank you so much for all

13:36

your support Thank you for being a

13:38

loyal listener and really appreciate you being

13:40

13:43

and just you know, I tell everybody I know

13:45

about this show all the time I think I've

13:47

gotten some listeners for you. So I'll keep shouting

13:49

from the rooftop Thank you

13:52

and everybody out there like Sarah. She's

13:54

the line from beautiful Colorado. What

16:33

a beautiful state Senators and the

16:35

she is a very fascinating dreams

16:38

experience she is this year with

16:40

his right now insolent welcome to

16:42

the Tell us when. Hi

16:45

thanks Sam and so

16:47

does Hop and. About

16:51

twelve years ago. But twenty.

16:54

Twelve. On. And

16:57

I just have to set up a little bit of

16:59

the background. That. The setting

17:01

Because I'm. At

17:04

the time. My. Husband and I

17:06

are family home. Within.

17:08

A small town in rural

17:10

Colorado. However,

17:13

C. O was as

17:15

the time in the state legislature

17:18

so he works. In them for.

17:21

Nearly six months out of the

17:23

year consecutively and then I'm kind

17:26

of, you know, back and forth

17:28

intermittent the the rest of the

17:30

time. So. He

17:32

would commute to work. Ah,

17:34

get up early on a Monday morning. Very

17:37

early and derives to Denver which

17:39

was about one hundred and sixty

17:42

miles away. So it's a it's

17:44

always see up and then he'd

17:46

be there Monday through Friday. And.

17:50

Typically. Try to come home, be home

17:52

by Friday night or Saturday. So.

17:55

In light of that, We'd.

17:57

Bought. A small pond out.

18:00

Come Denver. Which is where

18:02

he would live. With

18:04

an E know just be when

18:06

he was up there. For. Work.

18:10

So. One.

18:13

The air. I'm sure it was

18:15

probably towards the end of the section and and to

18:17

spend a. Dragging. On

18:19

it. If it just wears on you, that.

18:22

On Separation shore.

18:24

And I was really really

18:26

sad and really lonely and

18:29

just really. Longing to see

18:31

him and missing him. One

18:33

night when I went to bad. So.

18:36

I'm at home being a stay at home mom. And

18:41

so I just kind of felt

18:43

that sadness and heaviness and just

18:45

keep wanting. To. Be Together.

18:48

When. I went to bed. And

18:51

during the night At

18:53

this series seabed. To.

18:55

Rename. Where. It's

18:59

very brief, but I was.

19:02

Walking. Into the

19:04

bedroom. In the condo.

19:07

And it's It's just very vivid,

19:09

like I can still see the

19:12

ugly carpet have had success of

19:14

a set of moonlight coming through

19:16

the window is than he noticed

19:18

See everything. So I'm just entering

19:20

the Federal and I walk along

19:22

the bottom. Edge of

19:24

the bed, around to the

19:26

other side. Of. The

19:29

bad end up to. Where

19:32

the head of the bed is where

19:34

he was sleeping as is looking down

19:36

at him. And.

19:41

That. Was pretty much as he just

19:43

kind of stirs a little bit and then

19:45

boom I was back in my own bad

19:47

at home Mom. So.

19:51

The. Next morning. I

19:53

just. Couldn't believe like

19:56

was so vivid and. We.

19:58

Would always check in. The morning.

20:01

Before. She started working before I

20:03

started my day and to spell

20:05

check in and say the morning

20:07

outrageously love you mess you. That.

20:10

sort of thing. And so I

20:12

called him and I said you're not

20:14

gonna believe I had the most vivid

20:17

dream last night. I was in a

20:19

condo in the bedroom and I saw

20:21

you sleeping. And

20:23

he goes. Oh yeah, You

20:26

were here. You scared the

20:28

crap outta me. And.

20:32

So. I

20:34

was just really shocked that

20:36

is. He is still adamant.

20:39

Like we had this conversation. Recently to

20:41

buy one and dead. Sea. Is

20:43

he remembered the experience and what

20:45

it was like on his and

20:47

because we didn't talk in depth

20:50

about it. But

20:53

yeah, she's. He's still adamant

20:55

that eight I startled him. You know

20:57

it's colleague. Of sneaking up

20:59

behind some bad a gallon you

21:01

sexting them. That.

21:04

He said it was also very

21:07

comforting, but he says I very

21:09

clearly was there. so I just

21:11

do to the breeder. greens have

21:13

sleepless. So basically you have a

21:15

very vivid dream of him. You

21:17

were missing him a deeply you

21:20

you were of hundred and fifty

21:22

miles apart. You dreamt of him.

21:25

And. Very much like you were

21:27

there that condo one hundred and fifty miles

21:29

away. Next morning he reports back yeah, I

21:31

know you were here. I saw you. Yes,

21:35

he. and and as

21:38

he felt my presence

21:40

very distinctly. So.

21:43

It was also comforting to him once

21:45

he realized that it was me. By

21:49

yards and blows me away because to

21:51

me it's kind of a head scratcher

21:53

because it doesn't seem to say that

21:55

like astral projection, I didn't feel myself

21:57

lead my body. There was no to.

22:00

travel, I

22:02

was just there. And so,

22:07

I don't know, was this some kind of my

22:09

location or a shared dream or... See,

22:11

I... It's still very vivid,

22:13

you know. And I actually, I could

22:16

never repeat the experience. I wanted to

22:18

try to do it on purpose because

22:20

I'm like, that's pretty cool and I

22:22

miss you. So, we have to be able

22:25

to do on demand but I've

22:27

never been able to do it. I believe

22:29

this is totally real and I think this

22:31

does happen at certain times. Actually,

22:34

in the Camp Fire 6 book, which is

22:36

coming out in May, I'm not sure if

22:38

it'll be out by the time you hear

22:40

this, we have a story about

22:42

that, somebody in crisis and seeing

22:44

a loved one at that particular time. And

22:47

I believe that if the conditions are just

22:49

right or the people have the right gifts

22:52

or whatever, that you can

22:54

see people, you

22:56

know, sometimes they're in distress, sometimes maybe

22:58

not, maybe just there's

23:00

a longing there for each other. But that's

23:02

why I think that time and

23:04

space are far more malleable than we

23:07

kind of consider. We think of time

23:09

as very linear and

23:12

we think of like, okay, you're this distance

23:14

from somebody. But I tend to think that

23:16

sometimes it's more like a computer hard drive.

23:19

And you know, with

23:22

a computer hard drive, you can access... You

23:24

know, the data is physically on different parts

23:27

of that hard drive. But if the conditions

23:29

are just right, you can instantly... Well, not

23:31

the conditions are just right, it's actually a

23:33

matter of everyday occurrence, wouldn't work

23:35

otherwise. If you pull up something

23:37

on your hard drive and it's clear across

23:40

the hard drive from the data that you're

23:42

currently accessing, it's random access. It can access

23:44

anywhere on that hard drive. And I

23:47

wonder if our existence sometimes is like

23:49

that. Maybe not most of the time,

23:51

but if conditions are just right, we

23:53

have that ability to access any

23:56

time in space and any time

23:58

in time. You see what I'm saying? I

24:01

do. It's fascinating. Time

24:03

is definitely weirder than we, I don't

24:07

know, understand. And then you

24:10

get into, and thank goodness it

24:12

wasn't the case here, but shared death

24:14

experiences where people, you know, they live

24:16

halfway across the country and they

24:18

see a person at a time of their passing. It

24:21

happens all the time. It's very well-known

24:24

phenomena. Right. Yeah,

24:27

there's certainly something going on. Can't give you

24:29

any answers, Angela. Can't give you any answers.

24:31

But I can say it's

24:33

fascinating to tell the stories and ask

24:35

the questions. I thank you for sharing

24:37

yours today. Thanks

24:40

for having me. Stay spooky. Stay

24:42

spooky. Zach is on

24:44

the line from Kansas City, home

24:46

of the Chiefs. Super Bowl

24:48

champions, congratulations. I was actually rooting for

24:51

the Chiefs this year, so congratulations, Zach.

24:54

And you had two stories

24:56

about meditation. Tell us

24:58

what happened. Okay.

25:01

Well, the first one, and

25:03

actually both of them kind of took place around maybe

25:05

2001, 2002, somewhere

25:07

around there. It's kind of

25:10

in my mid-20s. And I'd

25:12

been just kind of experimenting with

25:14

different types of meditation. And

25:17

I kind of came across the

25:19

weight, just kind of lay flat on

25:21

the ground. And it seemed like

25:23

I was able to kind of do things

25:25

more that way. But

25:28

one particular time in this apartment that I had, I

25:30

had this kind of back room

25:32

and I was laying there. And it seemed

25:35

like things would start working when I would start

25:38

just, I don't know, I could feel energy that

25:40

would kind of go over

25:42

me. And at one point

25:46

during this specific

25:48

meditation, my

25:51

body felt like it just sank

25:54

massively fast down into the ground.

25:56

It just went way, way, way

25:58

down. Kind

26:00

of opened my eyes and I was

26:02

just laying like in a cave. I'm

26:05

assuming I don't know I'm in the

26:07

dark space is very weird and

26:09

I was definitely like laying there, you know

26:11

Like looking up and I was surrounded by

26:14

a bunch of figures and hoods, you

26:16

know, almost like Monkrobe hoods

26:19

right all of them. Yeah, it was

26:21

like brown hoods

26:23

and then one specific Person

26:26

was standing I'm thinking to my left

26:29

it was wearing like all white and they were kind of

26:32

Raising their arms up above me and it

26:34

felt really kind of freaky almost like ritualistic

26:38

almost ritualistic Yes, and I did

26:40

get a vague sense that they

26:42

were all it was definitely a

26:44

feminine energy and it seemed

26:46

like they were Potentially that women

26:48

in the robes, but you I

26:50

couldn't see faces or anything and

26:53

it was a little freaky because I've never had anything Happened

26:56

like that like that realistic and then

27:00

You know I kind of got startled awake

27:02

by the front door the opening from the

27:04

roommate kind of rattling around keys and stuff

27:07

and it kind Of knocked me

27:09

out of the meditation and it sent

27:11

me straight up again So I actually

27:13

felt my entire body rise back

27:15

up into the room. Huh? And when I

27:17

yeah, and when I sat up The

27:21

whole room was just permeated with like

27:23

a floral scent so I Have

27:27

kind of tried to research

27:29

and find things but I

27:31

think floral is probably a good sign I think

27:33

but it didn't seem like it's necessarily a great

27:36

thing when I was down below so when you

27:38

dumb Below in this place. Did

27:40

you feel threatened in any way? Did you feel

27:42

like oh, they're gonna get me or something like

27:44

that? it just You

27:47

know, I'm very curious person. So I

27:49

don't get startled too easily I usually

27:51

am kind of like sit back and

27:53

kind of assess the situation, but it

27:57

definitely felt ritualistic So I don't know if

27:59

that was necessarily a good day.

28:01

Yeah. Now,

28:03

do you think that somehow the only thing I

28:05

can think of, because we were talking offline, you

28:08

mentioned, has anybody ever had anything

28:11

like this? And I have had people

28:13

have strange experiences. The one that comes

28:15

to mind is, and

28:17

this is very early in the show, this

28:19

probably, we're about, you know, as

28:21

we're recording this, we're just about to hit our

28:23

15th anniversary. This might go back to 2009 or

28:25

2010. There

28:28

was this gentleman in Australia, and

28:30

he was sitting with a female friend of his,

28:32

and they were having some tea, and he was

28:35

very careful to say there were no controlled

28:37

substances involved. There were no drugs. There

28:39

was no alcohol. Nothing.

28:43

And there was like, I think,

28:45

a heater going, and it was just very calm,

28:47

and they were both sitting there having

28:49

tea, kind of looking at each other.

28:51

It was just a serene moment. And

28:55

I believe his friend said, I think

28:58

I see your face changing. And

29:01

our caller said to the woman, I think I

29:03

see your face changing too. And

29:06

what they were seeing was people seeing

29:09

each other's faces change as though it was

29:12

like, I don't know if you remember that

29:14

old video from Michael Jackson, Black or White,

29:18

where the faces morphed to people of

29:20

different races and so forth. Oh, okay.

29:23

Like at one point,

29:25

all different races, then it looked like

29:27

maybe a Native American, and then it

29:30

looked like King Tut

29:32

almost, that kind of look. And

29:36

they had just reached

29:38

such a level of relaxation, I

29:40

guess, that somehow it exposed these

29:43

things. So that to me,

29:45

I wonder if you were

29:47

in such a deep meditative state that

29:49

you basically astral traveled to some other

29:51

plane. What do you think? That

29:54

could be, and I was definitely like, that

29:56

was a very relaxed,

29:58

like deep space. states that I definitely

30:01

got to, probably the deepest that I have

30:03

ever had. Maybe you don't want to go

30:05

that deep again. Yeah. You

30:07

know, that's something that's always fascinated me is

30:09

that whole idea of astral travel. I

30:12

mean, I picture, you know, this kind of funny

30:14

ice picture, you know, Scrooge going back and looking

30:16

at the past times of his

30:18

life. And I almost wonder, is

30:20

that possible? If you have a high

30:23

enough state of meditation,

30:26

concentration, can you do

30:28

that? Not only move

30:30

around in space, but can you move around

30:32

in time? I kind of

30:35

like the closest thing to having a time machine.

30:37

I wonder if that's possible. I've

30:39

really not tried a lot of

30:41

meditation, honestly. So

30:44

I think that, you know, that

30:46

might be something to explore the idea of astral

30:49

travel. Now, you had another quick one you said,

30:51

right? Yeah. Yeah. So

30:54

the same apartment. It was a, we're

30:56

the top floor of like just a three level

30:58

place. It had, every level

31:01

had like a small, a

31:03

screened in balcony and it's

31:05

pleasing to the story. But the

31:08

balcony was separated from the apartment by

31:10

like some little French doors that were

31:12

all glassed in. So the whole, the

31:14

whole area was glassed in. And

31:17

again, I was decided to do some different

31:19

meditating. And so this time I was standing

31:21

and I know I shouldn't, I didn't want

31:24

to do this, but I

31:26

was, I had a mirror in

31:28

front of me for some reason. I thought, oh,

31:30

I'm going to experiment looking in the mirror, which,

31:32

you know, we all know those are portals of

31:35

some sort, right? Yeah. Yeah.

31:38

So, you know, I was in my twenties, so, you know. But

31:41

anyway, so I'm standing there in

31:44

the evening and looking across

31:47

in the mirror and right behind me are the

31:49

French doors to go outside. Right.

31:53

And, you know, there's, you can't enter from

31:55

anywhere other than the apartment to get up

31:57

in there. And so I'm standing there

31:59

and I'm. Working

32:01

on the meditating kind of getting the energy

32:03

flowing and going and I'm looking at the

32:05

mirror and you know start

32:07

feeling the The familiar

32:10

energies going and as I'm

32:12

looking in the mirror

32:14

I see this

32:16

form this is

32:18

kind of black mass behind me outside

32:20

in the the

32:23

balcony and it just lay

32:25

hands up against the The

32:28

French door glass like it did I don't

32:30

hear it, but I see it like flattened

32:33

Against the glass like it was like

32:35

an inky mass that just flattened against it

32:37

You know like if smoke

32:39

or something hits a solid object

32:41

you can see that it's just flattened against

32:43

it and man it spooked

32:46

me because it was right behind my head and it

32:49

just shot away as soon as I like Startled

32:52

up and I turned

32:54

around and I went out there and opened the door and there

32:56

was nothing out there and

32:58

I was pretty freaked because it definitely

33:01

seemed like it was trying to come at

33:03

me and I Went

33:05

back in and tried to recreate it a little

33:08

bit just to see if like a maybe there

33:10

was a car driving by or you Know any

33:13

anomalies and I could not recreate

33:15

it. It never happened since

33:17

I also am not going

33:19

to meditate in Mirrors

33:21

again, you know I something

33:24

occurred to me Zach and I'm not

33:26

gonna say specifically What

33:28

you do because I don't want to

33:31

dox you or anything, but it

33:33

strikes me in your line of business You

33:35

have to have a lot of concentration

33:39

That you really have to be tuned

33:41

in and concentrated and what you do

33:43

do you think that kind of training?

33:46

Possibly has made you particularly good

33:49

at tuning in and tuning out

33:51

distractions And maybe that's why you

33:54

achieved kind of these higher levels

33:56

and saw these things It's

33:59

possible I mean, they definitely

34:01

come natural to me and I mean,

34:03

I've had lots of

34:05

ghost things my entire life growing up.

34:07

So maybe it's also something just within

34:10

me and my family or whatnot.

34:12

But yeah, so maybe I just am tuned

34:15

somewhat more so into that

34:17

world or that energy. I

34:20

don't know. And by the way, what

34:22

Zach does is very cool. I just don't want

34:25

to, you know, violate his privacy. It's

34:27

on the up and up and it's very cool. I

34:29

don't mind if you want to. Yeah, you're involved in

34:31

the boxing world, right? Yes, absolutely.

34:33

Yeah, it's not like he's doing

34:35

anything nefarious. But I just

34:37

don't want to say it. It just struck

34:39

me because I think that people who are

34:41

involved in athletics, something like boxing, particularly boxing

34:44

because it's so individual in

34:46

a way and you really got to be

34:48

concentrating on what you're doing. To

34:51

me, it seems like that would just

34:54

kind of train you naturally to

34:56

be able to

34:58

achieve great focus. And

35:01

I'm wondering if that plays into all this. Really

35:04

could. Yeah. Yeah.

35:06

Well, Zach, thank you so much. I appreciate.

35:08

Thank you for sharing these meditation

35:11

stories. I hope you'll come back and tell us

35:13

some of those ghost stories. I would love to.

35:16

Thank you for having me. Stay spooky. Stay

35:19

spooky, Jim. Jim Harrell's

35:21

Campfire is brought to you by Hero Bread.

35:23

And you know something I love. I've

35:26

loved them since I'm a kid. I got

35:28

them packed in my lunch. I still love them today.

35:31

Sandwiches with bread. But

35:33

I've been told that's a bad thing

35:35

because of the carbs. The

35:38

carb fear is real, but carb heavy

35:40

foods are often the ones we love

35:43

the most. I know I do. Well,

35:46

hero bread is to the rescue like

35:48

a true hero. They

35:50

make those same delicious favorites

35:52

free of consequences or compromises.

35:55

They have remade, carb-y,

35:57

empty calorie bread products.

35:59

fluffy delicious versions that

36:02

include no net carbs, zero grams

36:04

of sugar, and fewer calories

36:07

plus protein and fiber. Now

36:09

the taste, the taste is there. For

36:12

example, one of my favorites thus

36:14

far is the hero seeded bread,

36:17

one gram net carbs. Unbelievably

36:20

great. Great for all

36:22

my favorite sandwiches, whether you're talking about

36:25

a PB&J, a grilled cheese, whatever it

36:27

might be. Oh. And

36:29

the texture, the texture has

36:31

the same texture that you

36:34

would expect in a carb bread, but it's

36:36

not carb-y. I was surprised.

36:39

And I absolutely love it. And the

36:41

new Trishon hero

36:43

bread, it fits into

36:45

a better lifestyle. And

36:48

again, helps with the fiber,

36:50

cuts down on the sugar, cuts down

36:53

on the carbs. And it's

36:55

great if I want to catch a quick lunch

36:57

from the spooky studio. I can

36:59

have a sandwich with no guilt. I

37:02

love hero bread. I'm a big fan and

37:04

I think you need to check it out.

37:07

Listen to this. Zero to one

37:09

grams of net carbs, zero

37:11

grams of sugar, high in

37:13

fiber, delicious and flavorful. The

37:15

soft fluffy experience you'll love

37:17

when enjoying a refreshing BLT,

37:20

savory breakfast burrito or

37:22

a mouth-watering cheeseburger. And

37:25

there's something for every craving,

37:27

including sliced bread, loaves, buns,

37:29

tortillas. They have the

37:32

hero croissant, two net carbs,

37:34

fantastic. Don't

37:36

give up being a breadhead. Hero bread

38:19

story. Denise is on the line

38:21

from Texas. She listens with her

38:23

husband, Carlos. Carlos, thank you for

38:25

listening and stay spooky. And

38:28

Denise is going to tell us a story

38:30

about a family friend. Denise, welcome to

38:32

the show. Thank you for joining us.

38:35

And tell us what happened. Hi,

38:38

Jim. So I'd like to

38:40

tell my story about a family friend

38:42

that we grew up with, my family,

38:44

Arnold, and him. Basically,

38:47

he was my brother's friend and who basically lived

38:49

at her house. He was

38:51

always there. I saw him

38:53

as a brother. And he grew

38:56

up always very, very poor. And

39:01

so she always got her home around dinner time. He

39:06

was always helping out my parents and things

39:08

like that. And he always had a dream

39:10

of trying to do more and

39:14

trying to be

39:16

able to achieve his own dreams. And

39:18

so she had

39:20

asked me one day about going to

39:22

go work somewhere. I don't know if

39:25

it was like a traveling job or

39:27

something like that. But

39:29

she was going to go work in a different state.

39:33

And it was basically

39:36

like a physical

39:38

labor job. And

39:41

he had asked me if I thought it was a

39:43

good idea. And I said, you know, I've always been

39:45

the kind of person that if you have

39:47

a dream, you have a goal, you should go

39:49

for it. You have this life. Just give

39:52

it a shot. We're thinking that can

39:54

happen. And you fail. You try again. Sure. And

39:56

so he did. He went.

39:58

And I had a dream. heard

40:00

from him and one

40:02

day I had a drone. He

40:05

was coming from the dark and I was

40:08

coming from the light. There was this thing

40:10

in the middle. It almost reminds me of

40:12

like a campfire but I'm not

40:14

really sure if that's what it was.

40:17

And he was

40:19

coming to talk to me and

40:21

tell me like

40:24

and just kind of like letting me know about

40:27

life. I don't really remember many of

40:29

the details. He was kind of like

40:31

telling me about him being around my

40:33

family and like and me being there

40:35

for him and him being there for

40:38

me and just kind of like letting

40:40

me know like reminiscing kind of thing.

40:43

And it was so strange. I remember that drone.

40:45

I said quite a few hours. I didn't say

40:47

like two to three hours and it was very

40:49

vivid. And when I woke up right before I

40:52

woke up, we said our goodbyes

40:55

and he went back to the darkness

40:57

and I went back onto like you

40:59

know, my other side like the light

41:02

and I woke up and

41:04

then that same afternoon I

41:08

remember I was going for a run or if I had

41:10

already gone for a run, I think I had already gone

41:12

for a run. My mom called me

41:14

and she let me know hey,

41:17

just wanted to let you

41:19

know. You know, it's all passed away

41:21

and it

41:23

passed away in that

41:25

other state but apparently they were in

41:28

a car accident and she was with

41:30

the other person that she left with

41:32

from nursing hometown and

41:34

the other person was in a

41:36

coma but Loredo had died instantly

41:39

in the accident and

41:41

he had been in the morgue of

41:43

the hospital or something like that for

41:45

three days. Nobody

41:48

knew and I just thought

41:50

it was so strange that I had that dream first

41:53

and he didn't you know,

41:55

I didn't know he had passed away and

41:58

my mom was like barely a four-year-old. me

42:00

and it basically

42:03

I remember it as a she was letting

42:05

me know she passed away you

42:07

know she was giving me his goodbye and

42:11

I sounds like it it sounds like it

42:13

definitely so yeah do you see

42:15

that as a positive in the sense that

42:17

the fact that he was saying

42:19

goodbye that Ken also says he

42:21

lives on right yeah

42:24

yeah I definitely I still remember him

42:26

from time to time there's been part of

42:28

few instances where I remember him and

42:30

so I I very much I feel

42:33

like he's he did

42:35

his he accomplished being

42:37

able to like leave he maybe not have like

42:39

the field it fully but he definitely wanted to

42:41

be able to get out of the

42:44

small town and go in and

42:46

do weren't I feel like his memory

42:48

lays on into those he was a

42:50

very blessed person in the sense of

42:52

he had the humility of many family

42:54

and friends he he he was remembered

42:58

by many he was cherished even in

43:00

death like and I still see him

43:02

that way now you said that your

43:04

mom said that there's a lot of

43:06

pranks that keep happening around the house

43:08

and you think there might be a

43:10

be Italian with Laredo right yes

43:13

he does he was a prankster

43:15

for sure he would always make

43:17

people laugh and so my mom

43:19

says that things get mocked and like

43:21

she's like that I didn't lock that door

43:23

he would always do that and these silly

43:26

things like that he was always the jokes

43:28

are the prankster he and

43:30

there's that's why I say like there's been

43:32

ties I remember him like I think it's

43:35

you isn't it so and

43:38

so I I remember him in that

43:40

way and so every time

43:42

something like that happens I think it's you messing

43:44

with me again so for sure

43:46

well our loved ones I

43:48

do believe live on and may find ways to

43:50

communicate with us on this side I believe and

43:53

it sounds like that's what happened to you Denise

43:55

I know you have another story and we'll get

43:57

to that on a future episode but I thank

43:59

you for being a part of the Camp

44:01

Fire tonight. Thank

44:03

you, Jim. Thanks, Pookie. Next up

44:06

on the Camp Fire is a long time

44:08

listener since back in 2012, and we are

44:10

so appreciative. And Brianna has a

44:12

great story. Now, unfortunately, we missed St. Patrick's Day

44:15

for this one. She tried to sign up in

44:17

time. We couldn't make it work. But

44:20

it's still a great story about a

44:22

trip to Ireland when she got married

44:24

last year at that beautiful

44:26

place. So, Brianna, first of

44:29

all, congratulations. And I know

44:32

there's multiple episodes to this,

44:34

but please start from the beginning because

44:37

it's fascinating. Well, thank

44:39

you so much, Jim. Yeah,

44:41

you know, my fiance, well, husband now, I guess,

44:44

and I had always dreamed of getting married

44:46

in Ireland. And it just so happened it

44:48

worked out really well that we found this

44:50

beautiful castle to Sligo. So

44:52

we just got married there in October of 2023. And

44:56

of course, when I called the castle

44:59

and I was making the arrangements, I

45:01

asked them, hey, is it haunted? Because, you

45:03

know me, I love ghost everything. Right. And

45:06

they said, yes, actually it is by one

45:09

ghost, and that's important later. They

45:11

said there's a little girl ghost named Pippa, and

45:14

she had fallen down the stairs or was pushed

45:16

down the stairs just by a servant. So

45:18

she was this known ghost that occupied

45:20

the castle and she was known to

45:23

haunt room number seven. So

45:25

flash forward, it's actually the day

45:27

or two before the wedding. We

45:29

had a welcome party with an

45:32

Irish band and Irish dancing and everything. And

45:36

the party was in the basement where it's

45:39

kind of strange, but the bridal suite's also

45:41

in the basement. So after everyone had gone

45:43

to bed and things were winding

45:45

down, I came back downstairs to go to

45:47

the bridal suite. And as

45:50

I was coming down the stairs, I saw,

45:52

and I've never seen a ghost in my life,

45:54

ever, as much as I've tried. I came

45:57

down the stairs. and

46:00

I saw for the briefest

46:02

second completely clearly, an older

46:05

woman sitting in this chair next to the stairs

46:07

wearing this white shawl. And

46:09

you know, I had had several

46:12

alcoholic beverages at night so

46:14

and I knew from my previous conversation

46:16

with the castle staff that there was

46:18

one ghost who was a little girl.

46:21

So I thought to myself, well, I'm just

46:23

imagining it, you know, that can't be

46:25

because there's only one ghost. Right.

46:28

So but I did check some of my bridesmaids, hey, I

46:30

think I saw a ghost and then I went to bed.

46:32

So the next day getting ready

46:34

for the wedding and I bring it up to

46:37

the castle staff, I said, hey, you know, I

46:39

think I saw something in the basement last night.

46:41

I saw this woman wearing a

46:43

white shawl and they said

46:45

without any hesitation, oh, that's the green

46:47

lady. The green lady. Yes.

46:51

And I was confused because again, had

46:55

I seen a little girl ghost, I would have questioned

46:57

it more because I was kind of prompted

47:00

that this might be there but I

47:02

saw something completely not, you

47:04

know, anything that they had mentioned. Right. So

47:06

they yeah, they said, yeah, she's a previous

47:08

owner. She doesn't come around a lot. She

47:10

must like you, whatever. But

47:13

it gets weirder because then later that

47:15

day, when I went to go get

47:17

my hair and makeup done for the wedding, I went

47:20

into this room that I had not been

47:22

in yet. So I had never seen this room, never seen

47:24

anything in the room and I turned

47:27

around and looked at this photograph on the wall which

47:29

is in black and white and lo and behold, there's

47:31

a woman in a white shawl which is exactly what

47:33

I. Oh man. Wow. Yeah,

47:36

I posted in. This was the same woman that you

47:38

saw, right? In this picture? Yeah. I

47:40

mean, I can't imagine any other woman.

47:43

I mean, I didn't see extreme detail

47:45

but I know that she was an older woman

47:47

wearing a white shawl and that's exactly what's in

47:49

the photo. I actually posted it in the Facebook

47:51

group. Thank you. As yeah. Thank

47:53

you for that. But the thing

47:56

was is that this was more than one

47:58

episode. It goes on, doesn't it? It

48:00

does. It does. Okay, so part two

48:03

and this actually has to do with a

48:05

little girl ghost So a guest

48:07

of mine who said I

48:09

could say her name Mary She

48:12

had called me three months before the

48:14

wedding and I had not told her

48:16

anything about ghosts or anything like that She

48:19

told me that she spoke to a psychic

48:21

who Told her

48:23

unprompted She said where

48:26

are you going? It looks so beautiful you're

48:28

staying in a very elaborate place and Mary

48:31

said yeah actually, I'm going to the wedding

48:33

at a castle and the psychic

48:35

warned her that she was going to

48:37

trip and fall and Hit

48:40

her face and her face was gonna be completely bruised

48:42

and she's gonna be you know Very

48:44

injured on this trip. Hmm. And

48:46

so that cautioned Mary to you know,

48:49

be careful But also she mentioned there's

48:51

a spirit there that's really excited to meet

48:53

you Hmm and so that's what

48:55

prompted the call to me and so I

48:57

said well actually there is a spirit there

48:59

her name's Peppa She's a little girl ghost. She's

49:02

in a room number seven. So Mary said well,

49:04

I want room number seven So

49:07

I gave that to her I find

49:09

it funny though because considering it's a little girl

49:12

ghost And you don't usually think of a ghost or

49:14

a spirit is being excited to meet someone But

49:16

Mary is also a teacher. So I find that

49:19

funny so Just

49:21

so happens Mary and her

49:23

granddaughter go to Paris. I had

49:26

a schedule ahead of the wedding

49:28

they're traveling through Paris and She's

49:31

getting off a bus on this tour and she

49:34

trips and falls on her face Her whole

49:36

face is completely bruised. She had to go to

49:38

the hospital and at the wedding her face is

49:40

like purple, you know Oh my

49:42

gosh, I know

49:44

and you know This psychic predicted that three

49:46

months earlier and in my head I was

49:48

like well this castle of all hopefully she

49:50

doesn't trip and fall in the castle, but

49:53

I mean she fell ahead of time but still I mean the fact

49:55

that she Exactly what the psychic

49:57

had said would happen happened. Yeah, that is just

50:00

weird. That is just

50:02

weird. Yeah. Now,

50:04

go ahead. Go ahead. I'm sorry. Oh, I have

50:07

a third story. I didn't hear you. Yeah, please

50:09

tell us. Okay. This is my

50:11

last one. This is a little fun. Not

50:13

very scary but fun. So,

50:15

there's this, you know, Irish tradition and of course,

50:17

before the wedding, I looked up Irish

50:20

wedding traditions. That's my heritage, you know. And

50:23

one of them was to ward off rain which of

50:25

course, you know, we had all these outdoor activities planned

50:27

so I really wanted to make sure it didn't rain.

50:29

Sure. They say that you

50:31

should put out a statue of the Child

50:34

of Frog which is the Catholic statue.

50:36

It's like a little mini young Jesus.

50:39

So, I of course, purchased a Child

50:41

of Frog statue ahead of, you know,

50:44

this trip and I went to Ireland and we were

50:46

there a week before the wedding and all these

50:48

different Irish people that I ran into

50:50

and little towns and stuff when I mentioned I

50:52

was getting married. They said, did you bring the Child

50:54

of Frog? And I said, yes.

50:56

Yes, I did. I did bring the Child of

50:59

Frog and throughout this journey before

51:01

getting to the actual castle, there was

51:04

this debate between the locals that whether

51:06

or not the Child of Frog needed to

51:08

be decapitated or not in order for it

51:11

to work for the rain to be worn off. Oh

51:13

man. Now, is

51:15

it a Child of Frog? How do you

51:17

spell that? Like

51:21

P-R-A-G-U-E and I also included the two

51:23

in my Facebook group. Thank you. Yeah,

51:26

you're welcome. So, just so in case

51:28

people aren't familiar. So, anyways, so

51:30

I get to the castle and it's the wedding

51:32

day and I'm in the same room with that

51:35

photo of the old lady and I'm getting ready

51:37

and the makeup artist is telling me, oh yeah,

51:39

the Child of Frog, you know, make sure you

51:41

have that. So, I put the Child of Frog

51:43

in the windowsill and it was raining and

51:45

there was a 90% chance of rain on

51:48

the wedding day which was such a bummer because we

51:50

had a drone and all this stuff and it was

51:52

going to kind of ruin our plans. So,

51:54

we put the Child of Frog in the windowsill and

51:57

the makeup artist was insistent that he needed to

51:59

be be beheaded but I didn't want to do

52:01

that. And

52:04

so, the photographer came in and was

52:06

taking photos and I asked him to

52:09

take a picture of the child of frog in the windowsill

52:11

which he did and as he

52:13

was doing that, it fell

52:15

and like it got stuck and wedged in between

52:17

the wall and the radiator

52:19

and everyone jumped up and they said,

52:21

oh, is his head fall off? So,

52:26

we went to check and he was still

52:28

what looked like he was still intact. So,

52:30

he was stuck in there. So,

52:32

we just had to go. We had to go to

52:34

the church and everything. We left him there and

52:37

I'm driving to the castle. It's

52:39

pouring rain and then within five minutes, the

52:41

rain went away. So, the

52:43

whole rest of the day was sunny and beautiful

52:45

and I was like, oh, I guess, you

52:48

know, he must have had to keep his head on to work. But

52:51

the next morning, I get a

52:53

text photo message from

52:55

my makeup artist and

52:58

she's holding his hat in her hand. Oh,

53:01

so the child of frog ended up without a

53:03

head. So, maybe that's why it

53:05

stopped raining. Yeah, I'm

53:07

not sure if she did it or

53:09

if it just so happened naturally but

53:12

he did naturally organically

53:14

fall into the radiator. So,

53:17

you know, that's the thing sometimes

53:19

when people say, oh, that's superstitious.

53:21

Well, sometimes maybe superstition has a

53:23

reason that it kind of survives

53:25

and perpetuate because maybe

53:28

it's true. I

53:31

mean, I got to believe especially you

53:33

mentioned that that plays into your heritage

53:35

and things. I've got to believe that

53:37

that trip made you want to go

53:39

back and investigate more about, you

53:41

know, this kind of spooky side of Ireland aside from

53:43

all the other great stuff, the beauty and so forth.

53:46

Absolutely, 100%. I mean, you know, here in America,

53:49

we take for granted, you know, we think a

53:51

house is old and it's 200 years old but

53:53

they have thousand year old houses over there. Right.

53:56

Yeah, that's exactly why I say when I'm

53:58

talking about England. It's so amazing. I

54:00

think there was like a

54:02

door. I think it

54:04

was the Tower of London or something and they said,

54:07

well, you know, this is the oldest door in England

54:09

and I don't know if it was a thousand AD

54:11

or what it was exactly, but it was extremely old

54:13

and it's just, you know,

54:15

it's just amazing to me. As

54:18

you said here in the States, something is a

54:20

hundred years old. Ooh, it's a sentry home and

54:22

over there it's like, yeah, it's new. It's just

54:24

getting started. Exactly. And

54:27

this probably further I'm

54:29

guessing, did it make you

54:31

more of a believer in

54:33

the supernatural and the paranormal than you already

54:35

were? Oh, a hundred percent. I mean, like

54:37

I said, I had never, I've heard EDPs. I

54:40

mean, I've done, you know, crazy stuff

54:42

on the Queen Mary and things like that

54:45

where I've captured stuff I've never seen a

54:47

ghost physically in person. So

54:50

I definitely believe in that. And there was

54:52

one really small thing that happened too, which

54:54

I love the Irish magic of this, but

54:56

before, a few days before the wedding, we had to

54:58

sign our registry, you know, to our actual marriage

55:00

certificate. And right as we signed it, we looked

55:02

up and there was a rain bones guy. How

55:04

cool is that? How cool is that? Yeah. Well,

55:07

Brianna, thank you for telling these stories. I

55:09

just want to say to Brianna and all

55:11

of you who are kind of the OG

55:13

listeners out there, I really appreciate it very

55:16

much. Without you, we wouldn't have been able

55:18

to do this full time all of these

55:20

years. And I know

55:22

Brianna was a Plus Club member from early

55:24

on and appreciate that and appreciate everybody else

55:26

out there who has supported the show for

55:28

us. We love all our listeners, but just a

55:30

special shout out to our OG, so to speak.

55:33

And Brianna, thank you. And I hope you'll come back on

55:35

the show if you have more stories. Definitely.

55:38

Thanks so much, Jim. Jim

55:47

the eclipse got me to thinking this

55:49

week. You know, we

55:51

are all so wrapped up in our daily

55:53

lives and it's understandable that maybe

55:55

sometimes we lose sight of the

55:58

bigger picture. For example, time.

56:00

Time is so precious and

56:03

many of us including me wishes

56:05

we had more time. But

56:08

then do you have your priorities

56:10

straight? Do you know how

56:12

you would use that time? It's

56:15

really important to not only find more time

56:17

but find time for things that matter and

56:22

you so you can do more of

56:24

it. And therapy

56:26

is great for so many things

56:28

learning positive coping skills, how to

56:30

set boundaries. It really empowers

you to be the best version of

56:35

yourself and it isn't just for those

56:37

who have experienced major trauma. If

57:18

are listening to Jim Harrell's Campfire. Next

57:21

up is Giselle. She is a longtime

57:23

listener of the shows and she's calling

57:25

in today from Florida and Giselle says

57:27

she feels like she almost knows me

57:30

and she obviously does because

57:32

she knows I love head

57:34

scratchers and she's gonna tell us

57:36

when. Giselle, welcome to the show and tell us

57:38

this head scratcher. Yes, thank you.

57:41

Well, this started back in

57:43

2020 and it was very

57:46

weird. I had gotten up

57:48

early in the morning

57:53

because my son just

57:55

started working in his new job

57:57

at the hospital and And

58:00

I thought, well, it would be nice for me

58:02

to just make him breakfast before he left. So

58:05

I went into the kitchen. Oh, and at

58:07

the same time, during that time, I had

58:09

started making bread from

58:11

scratch. So I had made a

58:14

bread the night before. And

58:17

so that morning when I got up, I went

58:19

straight into the kitchen, grabbed

58:22

my cutting board, placed the bread

58:24

on top of the cutting board

58:26

with my bread knife right next to it. And

58:30

I could hear him down

58:32

the hallway, you know, getting out of the

58:34

room and getting ready. So I thought,

58:36

well, let me just kill a little bit of time

58:38

so that, you know, when he

58:40

gets to the kitchen, it doesn't everything is not cold.

58:43

So I walked from the

58:45

kitchen island to the kitchen table,

58:48

which is only probably 10, 15

58:51

steps. And I sat down. And

58:54

as I sat down, what happened after

58:57

that is just bizarre because next

58:59

thing I know, I am

59:01

snapping out of it. There

59:05

was movement towards the left of my peripheral.

59:10

So I turned my head and right

59:12

between the kitchen island

59:15

and the family room, that

59:18

space right there, this

59:22

opening, there was an opening

59:24

in mid-air and I happened

59:27

to catch a glimpse of what

59:30

I think would be a guy because it

59:32

was a masculine leg jumping into this portal

59:37

because I don't know what else to call it other than

59:39

a portal. Jumping

59:41

into this portal, so I got a

59:44

glimpse of his right leg from his

59:46

thigh all the way down. He

59:49

was wearing this very tight fitting suit, I

59:52

would imagine. It was dark. It could have been,

59:54

you know, gray, dark gray

59:56

or black. because

1:00:00

they're looking at this and my

1:00:03

brain I think stopped working

1:00:06

because I couldn't process what was happening

1:00:09

and I

1:00:11

remember just being in awe

1:00:13

like did I really see this or in

1:00:15

my imagining and what just happened to me?

1:00:17

Did my brain just stop? Because

1:00:19

that's basically what it felt like like I

1:00:22

had just woken up. Now, no

1:00:24

time passed because I

1:00:26

looked at the clock but it was like

1:00:28

six something, it was like closer to

1:00:30

6am so it must have been like 6.05. So

1:00:34

really no time passed and

1:00:37

so I get up and I'm

1:00:39

shaking it out, you know, I'm thinking okay

1:00:41

this I didn't see this, right? This

1:00:43

is just my imagination, it's early in the

1:00:45

morning. So I walked back to

1:00:48

the kitchen counter

1:00:50

and I was

1:00:52

about to slice the bread and my

1:00:54

knife is not there.

1:00:56

So I'm like okay well what did I just do? I

1:00:58

know I just took it out of the

1:01:01

drawer so I went back to the drawer

1:01:03

to look for it and it's not there.

1:01:05

I checked everywhere and I'm thinking

1:01:07

well am I going nuts? So

1:01:11

because now I'm running you know a little

1:01:13

bit behind, I just I prepared everything. You

1:01:16

know my son left to work, my husband you

1:01:18

know comes into the kitchen to have

1:01:20

his coffee and he's like what are you doing?

1:01:22

I'm like I'm looking for the knife and I

1:01:24

told him what happened. Of course he didn't think

1:01:26

that was real, he didn't believe me. So

1:01:30

I checked the

1:01:32

house up and down. I went into

1:01:35

the garage. That's how crazy

1:01:37

I went looking for the knife and I

1:01:39

couldn't find it. Now prior

1:01:41

to that, there were

1:01:43

like maybe two weeks prior to

1:01:45

that happening, every time

1:01:47

I would go to the kitchen counter because that's where

1:01:50

I would do my food prepping, there

1:01:53

was a light bulb. I

1:01:55

have one of those, I don't know we call them headlights

1:01:57

you know the ones that go inside the ceiling. And

1:02:01

there's one bolt that would flicker and of

1:02:03

course, I didn't think that was paranormal. I

1:02:05

just thought that it was... A

1:02:07

bad bulb. A bad bulb, right. So

1:02:11

I ignored it for a little bit and because

1:02:14

it's so, my ceilings are so high up, I

1:02:16

couldn't even reach there with a ladder. So I

1:02:18

had to wait for my husband to do any,

1:02:21

you know, it took him a while to fix it. But

1:02:24

then I realized within a week, I

1:02:26

realized, okay, wait a second. It

1:02:28

would switch from that bulb to this other

1:02:30

bulb on the other side of the kitchen.

1:02:34

And that's not even what was weird.

1:02:36

What was weird is the flickering wasn't

1:02:38

just a normal flickering, it had a

1:02:40

pattern to it. And

1:02:43

the other one also did

1:02:45

the same pattern. So I'm like, this is so

1:02:47

weird. You know, I don't know about electricity but

1:02:49

I don't think it should be doing that.

1:02:53

And right after that, I

1:02:56

have one like everybody has a smart TV.

1:02:59

My TV started talking and I'm

1:03:02

like, oh my god, is this Alexa acting up?

1:03:04

So I went and I turned it off, you

1:03:07

know, and I'm like, okay, I don't want Alexa

1:03:09

on. And so

1:03:11

I ignored it. But then that happened

1:03:13

where that portal opened and I'm like,

1:03:15

wait a second, this is all related.

1:03:18

So it didn't end there.

1:03:22

Probably a week later, it was

1:03:25

during the week, I don't remember what day my husband

1:03:27

and I decided to go grab

1:03:29

a quick bite for

1:03:32

dinner. So we went, we ate.

1:03:34

I had generally one

1:03:36

glass of wine. That's it. And

1:03:40

then I came home. It was late.

1:03:43

So I was getting ready to go to

1:03:45

bed and all of a

1:03:47

sudden as I'm getting ready, I see a light

1:03:51

turn on. And so

1:03:53

of course, I turn around and inside

1:03:55

my shower, I have one of those

1:03:57

glass showers. Inside my shower.

1:04:00

floating in midair is

1:04:03

a rectangular thing,

1:04:06

window that's floating in the

1:04:08

air with yellow light coming

1:04:11

from the inside out. And

1:04:14

I'm looking at it and I'm saying like,

1:04:16

what on earth is that? And of course,

1:04:18

I'm puzzled. And I'm

1:04:20

just standing there staring at it and I feel

1:04:23

like I'm being stared back. I don't see anybody

1:04:25

on the other side, but that's

1:04:27

the feeling I got that I'm being stared at.

1:04:30

So I run out of the bachelor's to

1:04:32

tell my husband so that he can come and look at

1:04:34

it. Of course, when we got there, it was gone. So

1:04:37

he's like, oh, just now you probably just drank

1:04:39

too much. I'm like, I only had one glass

1:04:41

of wine, you know. No, I

1:04:43

really did see that. So fast

1:04:46

forward to probably, I

1:04:48

don't know, a few days maybe. I don't

1:04:50

think it was more than five days. My

1:04:53

husband is in the office, in our house

1:04:55

office. He was doing some work

1:04:58

in the computer and my son and I

1:05:00

are in the family room chatting when

1:05:02

all of a sudden my husband comes over to us and

1:05:06

he has this weird look on his face and

1:05:08

I'm like, what's wrong? He says,

1:05:10

I think I had an experience. And I'm

1:05:12

like, well, what kind of experience? And he

1:05:14

tells me that while he is working

1:05:17

on his computer, right

1:05:20

in front of him, this large

1:05:24

rectangular window opens up with

1:05:28

yellow light emanating from

1:05:30

inside and it was just

1:05:33

watching him. So and

1:05:35

he says, I can just sat there looking at it

1:05:37

to see what would happen and

1:05:40

nothing happened. It was

1:05:42

just there watching him. So he gets up slowly and

1:05:44

walks out to tell me so that I can come

1:05:46

and look at it. Of course, when I got there,

1:05:48

it was gone. Now

1:05:51

I'm telling you, Jim, I looked up and

1:05:53

down. I researched this. I went on

1:05:56

Google. I went everywhere to see if

1:05:58

there's anything like it. and I

1:06:00

couldn't find anything. I couldn't find anybody

1:06:03

talking about anything like this and I

1:06:06

said, well, this is

1:06:08

not paranormal because I saw, you

1:06:10

know, what looked like a human

1:06:13

leg of

1:06:15

a man jumping into this portal.

1:06:17

So what else can it be? It

1:06:19

wasn't spirit, it wasn't, you

1:06:21

know, I think it's

1:06:24

a train traveler of some sort. And

1:06:26

oh, so then the knife

1:06:29

wasn't found for three

1:06:31

months. On May 2nd,

1:06:33

because I took a picture of it, on

1:06:36

May 2nd early in the morning,

1:06:38

I get up, went to make

1:06:40

some coffee, I opened the knife

1:06:42

drawer and there it

1:06:44

was. So my knives are all in like

1:06:46

one next to each other so that when

1:06:49

I go grab one, I don't get cut.

1:06:51

Well, they placed it diagonally

1:06:54

like across from the

1:06:56

rest of them so that it can stand out. Oh,

1:06:59

kind of like look at what we put here.

1:07:01

Exactly. So I'm like, this is

1:07:03

intentional. This is not

1:07:06

by mistake. This is not a, I don't

1:07:08

even know. So that's a

1:07:10

nice story. I don't know

1:07:12

how to characterize that other than,

1:07:15

you know, I'm a traveler. Yeah, that's what

1:07:17

I was going to ask you. What do

1:07:19

you think it is? So you think it's

1:07:21

a time traveler or something? Well, I don't

1:07:24

know. That's what I categorized it but

1:07:26

you know, of course, it still doesn't

1:07:28

make sense because why would a time

1:07:30

traveler be doing something so silly like

1:07:32

that? Well,

1:07:34

that's the thing is that I wonder

1:07:37

sometimes if the things that we attribute to

1:07:39

ghosts and so forth and I'm not saying

1:07:41

that there aren't ghosts, but I'm

1:07:44

saying that maybe there's a whole

1:07:46

other category of something that we

1:07:49

don't even understand. And that's kind

1:07:51

of my point is that it's

1:07:54

kind of like Plato's allegory of the cave, I

1:07:56

think, you know, where the man

1:07:58

is chained and And he's looking at the

1:08:01

shadows on the wall, and

1:08:03

he's kind of constructing this whole reality

1:08:05

based on those shadows on the wall

1:08:07

where the real reality is very

1:08:10

different. I think we're kind

1:08:12

of like that. So we, you know,

1:08:14

sometimes I think we come up with

1:08:16

explanations, understandably

1:08:19

so, that cannot be

1:08:21

what they actually are. You know, I don't

1:08:23

necessarily believe all ghosts are dead

1:08:26

people. I think probably some are,

1:08:28

but I don't think they all are. And

1:08:31

you know, the idea that maybe it's a

1:08:34

time travel I think has as much validity

1:08:36

as any other idea because what do you

1:08:38

do with something like that? And you think

1:08:40

about the knife in

1:08:43

the drawer, and as a long time listener, I'm

1:08:45

sure you'll remember this, we've talked

1:08:47

about jot many times, just one of

1:08:49

those things, the supernatural thing

1:08:51

where things turn up in

1:08:54

places that make no sense. You

1:08:57

know, something will turn up in

1:08:59

a drawer where you've looked for it for 20 times, and

1:09:02

then the 21st time it'll show up. Or

1:09:05

it'll show up in the middle of your living room,

1:09:07

or in your case, kind of put

1:09:09

a skew in the silverware

1:09:11

drawer. I

1:09:15

don't know what it is, but I know it's real. I

1:09:17

know it happened. Yeah, it's

1:09:19

one of those weird things

1:09:22

that happen and I have no

1:09:24

explanation, but yeah, I

1:09:26

did see that. And excuse me,

1:09:29

and what makes me feel

1:09:31

better about it is that my husband got to

1:09:33

experience. So it's not like I was going crazy.

1:09:35

Yeah, getting that validation is so important

1:09:37

and it's so important to share your

1:09:40

stories. And Giselle, thank you so

1:09:42

much for sharing yours today. Oh,

1:09:44

thank you for having me. Giselle

1:09:47

is on the line from North Carolina. She

1:09:49

is a return caller, a Plus Club member,

1:09:51

and we appreciate all that very, very much.

1:09:54

And she has one of my favorite places

1:09:56

to hear her stories from because they always

1:09:58

think they're so interesting. interesting. And this

1:10:01

is a hospital story. Cynthia, welcome back

1:10:03

to the show. Please tell us what

1:10:05

happened. Thanks, Joe. Yes,

1:10:07

it is a hospital story. It's not

1:10:09

only hospital, but it's labor and delivery

1:10:12

in maternity ward. So 21 years

1:10:15

ago, well, closer to 22

1:10:17

now, went

1:10:19

into labor with my oldest daughter. It was

1:10:21

not the greatest of experiences. Things

1:10:24

that could go wrong went wrong. She

1:10:27

got stuck. My

1:10:30

OB walked into the room and said

1:10:32

she wasn't going to do the C-section,

1:10:34

so I had to wait for the

1:10:36

next one. Thank goodness, the anesthetist

1:10:40

who was there was a huge champion for

1:10:42

me to get to

1:10:44

a C-section. He had already booked

1:10:46

the room. We went in. I

1:10:50

knew things were going wrong when she

1:10:52

had gotten stuck, and I started to

1:10:54

react to the medicine they were giving

1:10:56

me. And so it just

1:11:00

wasn't, it was a comedy of errors for

1:11:02

us to even get there. It was

1:11:04

in Memphis when Hurricane Elvis went

1:11:06

through, so there was a

1:11:08

lot of energy as well in Memphis,

1:11:10

Tennessee at that time. I knew

1:11:14

something was wrong when the doctor looked at me

1:11:16

and started slapping me on the side of the

1:11:18

face and said, Cynthia, keep your eyes open. Look

1:11:20

at me. Look at me. And

1:11:22

I just wanted

1:11:24

to go to sleep. I just wanted to let go.

1:11:26

And I

1:11:29

got through it. She ended up in PICU for

1:11:32

a little bit, but

1:11:34

we didn't get to see her until almost four

1:11:36

o'clock that next morning. And all of this

1:11:38

had started at noon

1:11:41

the day before. So

1:11:43

we finally get her. We're in

1:11:45

the maternity ward.

1:11:48

We get to see her. It was the first time I'd

1:11:50

seen her, and we

1:11:53

fell asleep. And

1:11:55

22 years ago, they didn't

1:11:57

have the nice cushy places they have now for

1:11:59

dads. So my husband was in this

1:12:01

janky chair. I was in

1:12:03

the bed. She had fallen asleep, but in

1:12:05

nursing and I had fallen asleep and

1:12:08

Pretty soon I had felt hands on me

1:12:11

Like somebody just very gently laying their

1:12:13

hand and touching and I thought

1:12:15

oh, it must be my husband So I looked I

1:12:17

opened my eyes to look And

1:12:19

I didn't see anybody and I

1:12:22

didn't feel that pressure anymore. So I closed

1:12:24

my eyes. I went back to sleep And

1:12:27

I felt it again only this time

1:12:29

it was at my legs I

1:12:31

thought well, that's that's odd. Maybe the nurse came

1:12:34

in and then pretty soon I

1:12:37

felt Hands on

1:12:39

my legs on my knees on my feet

1:12:41

on my arms on my hand and even

1:12:43

on my head I opened

1:12:45

my eyes And I

1:12:48

see nothing like nobody's there. It's

1:12:50

just me. I still feel these

1:12:52

hands on me And

1:12:54

i'm like, well I'm

1:12:57

so exhausted. I just went oh well

1:12:59

it went back to sleep and

1:13:02

that was it end of story When

1:13:06

I told my go ahead go ahead

1:13:08

no, I should ask what do you think?

1:13:10

What do you think those little hands were?

1:13:13

Well, I told my mom about it Because

1:13:16

apparently in recovery, uh, they almost lost me

1:13:18

and and I was not aware of this

1:13:20

I did not have I didn't

1:13:23

have an nde. I wish I could say that but I

1:13:25

did not um but

1:13:28

My mom had called everybody and said

1:13:30

you need to start praying for cynthia

1:13:33

Uh, she things aren't going well and and

1:13:35

she just kind of had a gut feeling

1:13:37

she didn't know until afterwards in the eve

1:13:39

I didn't really know So

1:13:41

i'm i'm gonna say it was

1:13:43

guardian angels. It was You

1:13:46

know loved ones. It was all of these

1:13:48

people who were sending their um

1:13:51

power of of healing and

1:13:53

love And comfort, um,

1:13:55

and that's kind of what i've always attributed to

1:13:58

How cool is that? See, and

1:14:00

that's the thing, every supernatural story

1:14:03

doesn't have to be bad

1:14:06

or doesn't have to be full

1:14:09

of fear. Right. I mean, I

1:14:11

think there are those stories and I'm not one of

1:14:13

those people and God

1:14:16

bless them, I think it's always great to

1:14:18

be an optimist. I don't think everything supernatural

1:14:20

is all the sweetness and light and, you

1:14:22

know, there is no such thing as... I

1:14:25

mean, I'm a person who believes that there's

1:14:27

kind of bad and there's kind of good.

1:14:30

And the thing though

1:14:32

is that's not all bad and there's some

1:14:34

just very reassuring stories and that was your

1:14:36

friends and family being with you. I love

1:14:38

the way that you looked at that. That's

1:14:41

great. Yeah,

1:14:43

I really enjoyed that. That's always

1:14:45

stuck with me and

1:14:48

it's happened actually a couple of times since then

1:14:50

too. So I just

1:14:52

know it's just let

1:14:54

me know that I'm okay

1:14:56

and it will be okay just not

1:14:58

in a good spot at the moment.

1:15:00

Yeah, I'm definitely someone who believes in faith

1:15:03

and the power of prayer and people,

1:15:06

whatever form that takes, you

1:15:08

know, sending you good vibes, praying for you, those

1:15:10

kind of things. I think that

1:15:13

that is just awesome and it seems to have

1:15:15

worked out well in your scenario. It

1:15:17

has. Yeah. It's been a long time

1:15:19

since I've been able to be successful, almost 22 doing

1:15:21

really well. That is awesome. That is awesome.

1:15:23

Well, thank you so much, Cynthia. Thank you

1:15:25

for being a part of the show. I

1:15:28

really appreciate it and stay spooky.

1:15:31

Thanks, Jen. Stay

1:15:33

spooky. Jim Harrell's Campfire is brought to you by

1:15:35

Ritual. Now have you ever trusted your

1:15:38

gut maybe at a time you shouldn't have? Maybe

1:15:40

you thought you could make it to the

1:15:42

gas station but it turned out you couldn't.

1:15:44

Well, Ritual and Probiotics can't help you with

1:15:46

that kind of gut stuff, but the other

1:15:48

gut stuff, it certainly can

1:15:51

because if your gut needs a

1:15:53

little support, Ritual has your back.

1:15:56

They've made a three-in-one supplement with

1:15:58

clinically studied pre-buying. probiotics

1:16:00

and a postbiotic to

1:16:03

support a balanced gut

1:16:05

microbiome. And

1:16:07

I love ritual and I love

1:16:09

Symbiotic Plus. And Symbiotic Plus has

1:16:11

really made a difference for me.

1:16:15

I take it every evening and

1:16:17

honestly, I can tell the difference.

1:16:19

My gut is doing better than

1:16:21

ever and I

1:16:24

credit Symbiotic Plus because

1:16:26

Symbiotic Plus is that daily

1:16:28

3-in-1 prebiotic, probiotic and postbiotic

1:16:31

with two of the world's most

1:16:33

clinically studied probiotic strains to support

1:16:35

the relief of mild and occasional

1:16:38

bloating gas and diarrhea. Postbiotics

1:16:41

provide fuel to the cells that make up

1:16:43

the gut lining to support a healthy gut

1:16:45

barrier. Delayed release capsule?

1:16:48

Well, it is designed to help survive

1:16:50

the harsh conditions of the upper GI

1:16:52

tract and it's all

1:16:54

in one minty capsule. No

1:16:57

refrigeration needed and I think that is so

1:16:59

cool because I don't have to worry about

1:17:01

that. I got to put these

1:17:03

in a refrigerator. No, you can take them with you

1:17:05

and it's very, very convenient. Another

1:17:08

thing I really appreciate about ritual and

1:17:10

Symbiotic Plus, they do

1:17:12

the science right. Their products are

1:17:14

rigorously tested and validated by a

1:17:16

third party for allergens, microbes and

1:17:19

heavy metals. Ritual

1:17:21

actually invested in a study

1:17:23

modeling the human colon which

1:17:26

showed Symbiotic Plus significantly increased

1:17:28

microbial diversity and the growth

1:17:30

of beneficial bacteria. And

1:17:33

ritual multivitamins which I also

1:17:35

take are vegan, non-GMO product

1:17:37

verified, gluten and major allergen

1:17:39

free. Certified B Corp and

1:17:42

main traceable. There's

1:17:44

no more shame in your gut. Game Symbiotic

1:18:17

Thanks. Now back to another

1:18:19

great campfire story. Next up

1:18:21

on the campfire is Alana from Japan

1:18:23

and she is a US Marine stationed

1:18:26

in Japan and

1:18:28

we thank her so much for her service.

1:18:30

I think it's so important to recognize

1:18:33

folks who defend our country and we thank

1:18:35

Alana for that. And we thank her for

1:18:37

listening since 2021. She said she

1:18:39

found us on Spotify and she's

1:18:41

loved the show ever since and we love

1:18:43

to hear that. And she's going to tell

1:18:46

us about some strange incidents that

1:18:48

happened to her, a series of incidents

1:18:51

when she was 17. Alana,

1:18:53

welcome to the show. Thank you again for your

1:18:55

service and tell us what happened. Jim,

1:18:58

thank you for having me. Yeah, so I'll

1:19:00

get into the incidences. This

1:19:03

is one of the first paranormal incidences that

1:19:05

happened to me. So

1:19:08

they center around my sister and

1:19:10

I. So

1:19:12

the first incident happened when

1:19:15

we came home from school one day. We

1:19:18

shared a room and I

1:19:20

decided to take a nap that day. I

1:19:24

wasn't particularly tired. So

1:19:26

I kind of just laid in bed and

1:19:28

really focused my breathing. I

1:19:31

closed my eyes and after

1:19:34

about five minutes of doing this,

1:19:36

I heard a very loud whooshing

1:19:38

sound and it was

1:19:42

really strange. I started to feel

1:19:44

like my soul was

1:19:47

being pulled out of my

1:19:49

body while at the same time

1:19:52

experiencing sleep paralysis. So

1:19:54

there was like this whooshing going on. I

1:19:57

felt my soul going up towards

1:19:59

the ceiling. and I could

1:20:01

not move. I was absolutely terrified

1:20:03

and it lasted

1:20:06

for about a minute and a half but

1:20:08

it felt so much longer. Eventually,

1:20:11

I was able to wiggle my fingers

1:20:13

and kind of like gain

1:20:16

movement of my arms again. But

1:20:19

I think that event kind

1:20:22

of triggered this series

1:20:24

of events. So that

1:20:26

was the first one that kind of left me

1:20:28

a little freaked out. The

1:20:31

second event was I

1:20:34

woke up and my sister was

1:20:36

like, hey, do you remember last night? And

1:20:39

I was like, what? She

1:20:41

told me I had been sleepwalking. So

1:20:44

this happened a few days later after

1:20:46

the first event. So

1:20:50

she said I walked over to her bed

1:20:52

and just kind of stood there

1:20:54

and she was freaked out. She's like, what

1:20:56

is she doing? My

1:20:58

eyes were closed and she asked me what I wanted.

1:21:02

This part is kind of funny but

1:21:04

I asked her, can you make me

1:21:07

pancakes? And she

1:21:09

was like, uh,

1:21:11

no. And she said

1:21:13

I walked out and I

1:21:16

stayed in the living room for about four minutes and I

1:21:18

came back in and just went to bed. So I

1:21:22

had no recollection of this happening. I don't

1:21:25

really have a pattern of

1:21:28

sleepwalking. So it was a

1:21:30

little strange. Yeah.

1:21:35

And the third incident which is the

1:21:38

most sinister incident and I'm still shaking

1:21:41

about it to this day, happened

1:21:44

in the same room. It was

1:21:46

about three days later, maybe a week.

1:21:48

I can't remember. So

1:21:50

before I went to bed, I put

1:21:54

a blanket in front of my door. I'm very

1:21:57

sensitive to light and I don't like it when I'm trying

1:21:59

to sleep. sleep. So this is very

1:22:01

important. I put a blanket in front of

1:22:03

the crack in my door and I

1:22:05

went to sleep and fell

1:22:08

asleep and I was

1:22:11

having normal dreams and in

1:22:14

my dream, I woke up in

1:22:17

my room but this dream in

1:22:19

particular was extremely vivid and

1:22:21

I actually thought I was awake. So

1:22:26

when I woke up in my

1:22:29

dream, I felt like something was sitting

1:22:31

on my chest and kind

1:22:33

of like holding me down like

1:22:35

a pressure. And

1:22:40

in the dream, I kind of freaked

1:22:42

out and wiggled away and like fell

1:22:44

off of the bed onto the floor

1:22:47

and started crawling towards my

1:22:50

sister's bed which was on

1:22:52

the other side of the room. And

1:22:54

in the dream, I felt like something was pulling

1:22:58

at my feet and

1:23:01

dragging me backwards towards my bed.

1:23:03

And in

1:23:08

the dream, my sister wakes up and she looks at

1:23:11

me and she's like, what

1:23:13

are you doing? And I

1:23:15

tried to scream, I tried to

1:23:18

talk to her but no

1:23:20

words could come out. You know, when you're dreaming

1:23:23

and you're screaming and

1:23:25

you can't scream, that

1:23:27

was happening. So my

1:23:30

sister gets up and she walks to the

1:23:32

other side of me and kind of bends

1:23:35

over to like try

1:23:37

to console me and I

1:23:40

look behind her and

1:23:42

where I had put that

1:23:44

blanket, in real life,

1:23:47

the blanket was in the dream, there was

1:23:49

a humanoid figure

1:23:52

just crouched underneath the blanket

1:23:56

and I tried

1:23:59

to alert my sister in the

1:24:01

dream that something was behind her and

1:24:03

she couldn't hear me but

1:24:05

when I looked up and made eye

1:24:07

contact with this this thing,

1:24:10

this humanoid figure, a face

1:24:13

popped out and kind of rushed

1:24:15

towards me. It had

1:24:18

long black hair, it

1:24:20

had jagged teeth and

1:24:23

I can't really remember what it what

1:24:25

its eyes looked like but it

1:24:28

roared at me. Oh my lord. Like

1:24:31

kind of like growled slash roared.

1:24:33

Yeah it was so scary and as

1:24:35

it did that it

1:24:39

was weird the sound in my ears

1:24:41

kind of muffled and all

1:24:43

I could hear was this this roar and

1:24:46

as soon as

1:24:49

that happened I woke myself

1:24:51

up and I was like nope. When

1:24:54

I woke up it looked exactly

1:24:57

how it looked when I woke up in my

1:24:59

dream. It really freaked me out. I jumped out

1:25:01

of bed, I went

1:25:03

over to the the blanket and I

1:25:06

ripped it off the ground and

1:25:09

immediately I just I just started crying

1:25:11

because it was so overwhelming and

1:25:14

my my sister woke up and she was like

1:25:18

why are you awake? It was 4 a.m. she was

1:25:20

kind of upset with me that I

1:25:22

woke her up so early but when I told

1:25:24

her the story she realized or

1:25:26

the dream she realized I

1:25:29

was serious so I was

1:25:31

pretty shaken up for a few weeks

1:25:33

honestly from that incident. No let me

1:25:35

let me ask you this, do you feel that

1:25:37

it was more than a dream? In other words

1:25:39

I mean most of

1:25:41

us have had you know pretty scary dreams

1:25:45

and you know I

1:25:47

guess in Scrooge you could be a bit

1:25:50

of undigested girl in A Christmas Carol. Do

1:25:52

you think it was just like a weird

1:25:54

dream or do you think that there was

1:25:56

something more real to it? and

1:26:00

more sinister to it? I

1:26:03

definitely think there is something more real to it.

1:26:05

I think it was an actual

1:26:07

entity that I encountered because

1:26:10

I had never really had like

1:26:12

such a vivid dream before and

1:26:17

I think that first incident

1:26:20

with the like sleep paralysis

1:26:23

flash I don't know if it was

1:26:25

astral projection like

1:26:28

similar to that Open

1:26:30

that door. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm

1:26:33

Now was that was that

1:26:35

I mean that was terrifying enough Was that the

1:26:37

end of it or were there any more any

1:26:40

more dreams like that? There

1:26:43

were no more dreams like that. Thank

1:26:45

God But

1:26:48

my sister and I did have one

1:26:50

other weird incident a few years later

1:26:53

It's a really short encounter if you

1:26:55

don't mind I could just tell you

1:26:57

sure Yeah, so it

1:26:59

was my 20th birthday and

1:27:02

we went up to Austin to celebrate

1:27:04

and we were coming back Mind

1:27:07

you we were not under the influence of drugs or

1:27:09

alcohol But we

1:27:11

were driving back. It was about 1130

1:27:14

p.m. And we were on some Texas

1:27:16

back roads and We

1:27:19

were just kind of goofing around looking

1:27:22

to go on some of

1:27:24

the like dirt roads and As

1:27:27

we were about to

1:27:29

turn on this dirt road, there was

1:27:31

nobody around no cars nothing and We're

1:27:35

driving and to our

1:27:37

left in the ditch. We

1:27:39

saw a figure of Something

1:27:43

it it looked like

1:27:45

an old woman or something crouched in

1:27:47

the ditch And

1:27:51

I Thought

1:27:53

I was seeing things I asked my sister

1:27:55

do you see that and

1:27:57

she kind of panicked and was like, yeah, I do

1:28:00

And we

1:28:02

just we didn't stick around. I

1:28:05

hit the gas pedal and we got

1:28:08

out of there. But I

1:28:10

don't know what that was. I think it was

1:28:12

we think it was like maybe a skin walker

1:28:14

or something like that. Interesting.

1:28:18

But we've I've

1:28:21

noticed when the two of us get together,

1:28:23

there's always something that happens. I

1:28:25

don't know if it was, you know, because we were younger. Right.

1:28:27

I've heard entities feed off of that

1:28:29

type of stuff. Yeah,

1:28:31

I've heard that too, like in adolescence

1:28:34

or teenage years that that is something

1:28:36

that then particularly when you talk about

1:28:38

things like poltergeist, that is a very

1:28:40

common thought that that kind of psychic

1:28:43

energy, you

1:28:45

know, kind of contributes to those kind of

1:28:48

things. Well, Alana, I want to thank

1:28:50

you so much for being a part of

1:28:52

the campfire today. Thank you again for your

1:28:54

service and thank you for calling all

1:28:56

the way in from Japan. Thank

1:29:00

you, Jim. Stay spooky.

1:29:02

We have a return caller. I always love

1:29:04

to hear from our return callers. Dresden is

1:29:06

on the line and they have a story

1:29:09

about a college experience. Dresden, welcome back

1:29:12

to the show and please tell us

1:29:14

what happened. Hi, Jim.

1:29:16

Thanks for having me. All

1:29:19

right. So this is what happened. It's

1:29:22

early in the morning and it's trash day at my

1:29:24

college and my dorm room is at the end

1:29:26

of the hall. So there's always this

1:29:28

big blue bin right outside of my

1:29:30

dorm room. And so like

1:29:32

I'm approaching, I've got my keys and my hands talking

1:29:35

to my friends and I look up because I'm approaching

1:29:37

my door and I stop

1:29:40

and I just freeze in place because I see this big

1:29:42

black, it looks like a big

1:29:45

black trash bag, like

1:29:47

a really big one like the contractor size

1:29:50

and like it's sticking

1:29:52

out of the garbage bin and that's

1:29:54

not as unusual but like it's

1:29:57

like really black. Like it's

1:29:59

like super. dark black and I feel like

1:30:01

I've made eye contact with it. Like I get

1:30:03

that startled feeling of like, you know, when you

1:30:05

actually make eye contact with somebody. So, in other

1:30:07

words, it wasn't a trash bag. You don't

1:30:09

think it was an entity perhaps? Yeah.

1:30:12

Yeah. Because like, especially

1:30:15

because in that, like, we made

1:30:17

eye contact for like half a second and it

1:30:19

just float like, well, not slowly, quietly, like just

1:30:22

sunk back down into the bin and like

1:30:25

it didn't make any noise. And I turned to my friends and

1:30:28

they were looking at me because I was just talking and I'm

1:30:30

saying bye and I'm like, did any of you see that? And

1:30:32

they're like, no. And so I get

1:30:34

up, like I go, I walk up and I look

1:30:36

in the bin and there's nothing in there except for

1:30:38

one little white grocery bag that's tied

1:30:40

off. There was nothing else in there.

1:30:43

Yeah. So,

1:30:46

it kind of got like, kind of like,

1:30:48

oh heck, kind of vibed from it. Sure.

1:30:51

So, whatever it was, it disappeared. Yeah.

1:30:55

Yeah. Now,

1:30:57

I know

1:30:59

in your email you said you thought there were some

1:31:02

reasons and things. What do you think

1:31:04

was going on? What do you think kind of

1:31:08

what the situation was here? Well,

1:31:11

college was a really rough time for

1:31:13

me, like mentally and emotionally. Like, it

1:31:15

was so different. There was so much

1:31:18

going on and so many new people and

1:31:20

I was not in a good place mentally,

1:31:22

like during those times. And

1:31:24

I kind of wonder if, especially because

1:31:26

my previous stories I've talked about with the

1:31:28

old building that's no longer exists, the Craft

1:31:30

House, that we called it,

1:31:32

then people would do like seances and

1:31:35

like Ouija board stuff there because they knew it was

1:31:37

haunted and I would hang out with those people. And

1:31:39

I kind of wonder if maybe some of it

1:31:42

felt like the negativity, like the bad

1:31:44

feelings in me and it was like

1:31:46

maybe followed me and I

1:31:49

wasn't supposed to see it. But then I did and

1:31:51

I was like, oh heck, and vanished? Yeah.

1:31:54

I don't know, but I kind of wonder if that's why I

1:31:56

saw it, why I was able to see it. No.

1:32:00

Now, this is

1:32:02

maybe an odd question, but what was the

1:32:04

consistency of it? Did it

1:32:06

look like it was gelatinous? I mean... It

1:32:10

legitimately had the shape, like the

1:32:13

kind of crinkle outside shape of

1:32:16

a trash bag. Like it legit

1:32:18

looked like a trash bag, like just

1:32:20

really dark, like somebody had turned the contrast

1:32:22

on it, like to the point where like

1:32:24

you could barely tell. Mm-hmm.

1:32:27

Mm-hmm. Like where it felt like the eyes

1:32:30

were, there wasn't anything there. It's just that's where

1:32:32

the eyes were, just kind of like up

1:32:34

around like the upper

1:32:36

middle portion of it. Huh.

1:32:40

No, that's pretty freaky indeed.

1:32:43

Again, as I've said many times

1:32:45

on this show, I mean, I think everybody

1:32:47

wants to and understandably so they want

1:32:49

to categorize all of this stuff. They

1:32:51

want to say, okay, ghosts are dead

1:32:53

people and this is that. But I

1:32:55

think there's a lot of these what

1:32:58

I call in-between stories. They're not like

1:33:00

a ghost story necessarily, but they're not

1:33:02

a cryptid story. There's like these in-between

1:33:04

head scratcher stories. And I think I

1:33:06

just, I mean, I've heard

1:33:08

of the in-between, anybody that's watched, or I'm

1:33:10

thinking of Stranger Things, the Upside Down,

1:33:12

but the in-between stories, ones that are

1:33:15

not easily categorized. I will put that

1:33:17

in that category. Doesn't mean

1:33:19

that it's any less real because I

1:33:22

think that our existence is far more

1:33:24

complicated than we understand. And some

1:33:26

of the... I totally agree. Some of these

1:33:28

in-between stories, I think they're the most fascinating ones.

1:33:30

Well, I know you've got another story you're going to

1:33:32

come back on and share that with us in

1:33:35

a few weeks. But Dresden, thank you so much for

1:33:38

joining us and telling us about the blob

1:33:40

in the trash bin. Yeah,

1:33:42

thanks for having me, Jen. Stay Sookie. Danny

1:33:45

is on the line from Utah

1:33:47

and man, Danny deserves a big

1:33:49

round of applause. Danny has been

1:33:51

listening since at least, at least

1:33:53

2011. It's

1:33:56

going way back and we're so glad to hear

1:33:58

from him today. He's going to talk to

1:34:01

us about, well,

1:34:03

a haunted hotel that he worked at. Danny,

1:34:06

welcome to the show and tell us what happened.

1:34:08

Hey, thanks Jim. I appreciate you having me on. So

1:34:12

I used to work at the Irma

1:34:14

Motel in Cody, Wyoming, and

1:34:17

it's known to be haunted.

1:34:19

It's been in several haunted

1:34:21

books of different

1:34:23

locations around America. I

1:34:27

didn't really have a ton of experiences there,

1:34:29

just creepy vibes every once

1:34:31

in a while. And even this

1:34:33

story, I can discount everything

1:34:36

that happened, except for

1:34:38

that it all happened sort of

1:34:41

in a sequential order that's just

1:34:44

really creepy. So there's

1:34:48

one room of, or one

1:34:50

hallway that goes to

1:34:52

the entrances of three different rooms. And

1:34:56

there's 33, 35 and 37 at the very end of the

1:34:58

hall. So

1:35:01

you hit 33 on your left, a few feet later, 35

1:35:03

on your right, and then 37's at the very

1:35:06

end. So

1:35:10

I'm going down the hallway

1:35:12

doing my cleanup stuff. I was

1:35:14

a housemaid or whatever. And

1:35:17

I go into 33

1:35:20

and there's, I

1:35:22

noticed when I'm cleaning up the bathroom that

1:35:25

the faucet is leaking, which isn't really normal.

1:35:27

It's a really old hotel. Most

1:35:30

of the old sinks leak. But

1:35:33

the thing is, is that this was one of the ones that

1:35:35

they'd replaced with a new sink. And

1:35:37

I had never seen it leak before. And

1:35:40

it was just, it wasn't just like a drip. It was

1:35:42

like running. And

1:35:45

so I tried to turn it off, made a mental

1:35:47

note, tell my boss where I get done. I

1:35:52

moving on to the next room, 35. I

1:35:54

go in to clean it in as soon as, as soon

1:35:57

as I get in there, it's extremely

1:35:59

cold. which

1:36:01

also not that uncommon. Everyone's

1:36:04

got their own AC unit so there's a

1:36:06

chance that the previous

1:36:08

people that were occupying it just

1:36:11

left the AC full blast. But

1:36:13

the AC wasn't on when I got in there

1:36:16

but they could have just left I don't know for sure

1:36:19

but extremely cold for the

1:36:21

middle of summer. So that's

1:36:25

that room. So then I move on to

1:36:28

the last room, room 35 and or 37 and it's

1:36:30

at the very end of the

1:36:34

hall. Also this hall is like

1:36:37

really dark so it's

1:36:39

creepy anyways but I

1:36:42

get to the end of the hall. I'm

1:36:44

feeling a little bit strange because of these

1:36:46

occurrences but rationalizing them

1:36:50

and I get to that room and the

1:36:52

first thing that you do as a housekeeper is

1:36:54

go pick up all towels, all the youth

1:36:57

like soaps and stuff, get them out of the

1:36:59

room. So

1:37:02

in 37 there's a clawfoot tub

1:37:04

like one of those really cool

1:37:06

old clawfoot tub and the

1:37:09

way that those the shower curtains on

1:37:11

those work is that

1:37:14

part of it is part of the

1:37:16

rod that goes all the way around

1:37:18

the tub is connected to the shower

1:37:20

head that comes up from the tub

1:37:23

and the other part on the opposite

1:37:25

side of the tub is connected to the ceiling. So

1:37:29

the shower curtain is fully open and

1:37:32

there's a soap in the middle of the tub and

1:37:35

I bend down to pick it up and as soon

1:37:37

as I touch the soap the

1:37:39

shower curtain, the rod comes

1:37:41

loose from the ceiling and

1:37:44

swings down with what feels like kind of a

1:37:46

lot of force onto me

1:37:48

and knocks me into the tub. So

1:37:54

in my mind still I'm like

1:37:56

this could be maybe

1:37:58

the previous people. Like

1:38:00

this watched it and just

1:38:02

did a really bad job of putting it back in

1:38:07

but with everything else that's gone on so

1:38:09

far and It

1:38:13

felt aggressive the timing

1:38:15

I didn't touch the curtain And

1:38:19

so I Like just got

1:38:21

out of the room. I went to

1:38:23

another room in another part of the hotel to call

1:38:25

my boss Who

1:38:27

is like cleaning? all

1:38:30

the linens and stuff in the basement and

1:38:33

I tell her what happened and She's

1:38:37

like, okay, we'll just send One

1:38:40

of the other maids will straight out rooms and

1:38:43

you can do the rest of her room she'll

1:38:45

do the rest of yours and That

1:38:49

alone is kind of strange

1:38:52

because the

1:38:54

head made at this place was

1:38:57

a a like

1:39:00

crotchety older woman who

1:39:03

was very very very staunch

1:39:05

and strict like she would go into rooms

1:39:08

after you and Check

1:39:10

the see if there's any dust

1:39:13

like drag your fingers along everything And she

1:39:16

was she was on court So

1:39:18

the fact that she was just instantly like

1:39:20

okay just switch out for today like I

1:39:22

don't know if it was the clear

1:39:27

like tremor my voice or what but

1:39:32

She clearly had an idea that something was up

1:39:34

and didn't want me to have to deal with

1:39:36

it. So Yeah,

1:39:41

it's one of those things I mean I

1:39:43

would think that hotels are really

1:39:45

some of the ones Places

1:39:47

that would be most likely to be haunted because

1:39:49

you think about first of all just the mere

1:39:51

amount of people that go through right and We've

1:39:54

got people who are dealing with

1:39:57

every human emotion some people

1:39:59

might be staying staying at that hotel because there's going

1:40:01

to be a blessed event. There's going to be a

1:40:03

wedding. Some people might

1:40:05

be staying there because they're going

1:40:07

to a funeral. There

1:40:10

might be a couple staying there who's on a

1:40:12

honeymoon. Or sometimes

1:40:14

people might be in there to have

1:40:17

an indiscretion that

1:40:19

goes against their vows. I

1:40:21

mean, it's like the whole

1:40:24

range of human emotion. So

1:40:26

whether it's dead people or it's just kind

1:40:28

of like some kind of residual energy,

1:40:32

I would think hotels would be like

1:40:34

high on that list of potential places

1:40:36

to be haunted. Yeah,

1:40:39

for sure. And then this

1:40:41

hotel is really

1:40:44

old. It was actually

1:40:46

opened by Buffalo Bill Cody,

1:40:49

which the town Cody, Wyoming is named after

1:40:52

him. And

1:40:54

Ermo was his daughter. So that's why it's called the

1:40:56

Ermo. Wow. Wow. Go

1:40:59

ahead. Go ahead. So

1:41:01

I was going to say that also, I don't

1:41:03

know how much truth there is in this, but there's

1:41:06

a bar right underneath. These rooms are

1:41:08

on the second level of the hotel. And

1:41:11

allegedly, 37 is

1:41:13

known to be one of the more active

1:41:16

rooms, I guess. And

1:41:20

some people say, I don't know

1:41:22

how much truth there is to this, but some people say

1:41:24

that there's underneath that room is

1:41:27

where the hotel bar is. And

1:41:32

it's said that there was a fight

1:41:35

that broke out way back

1:41:37

in the day and someone to

1:41:40

be a tough guy, like shot their gun up

1:41:43

into the air in the

1:41:45

bar and it went up

1:41:47

through the floor and killed the person in 37.

1:41:52

And that's like the story behind why it's

1:41:54

so active. Wow. Wow.

1:41:58

Well, I... I gotta

1:42:00

tell you, these places, they're

1:42:04

haunted. I stayed at it, and I can

1:42:06

even share it with you offline. I won't

1:42:08

mention the hotel, but I stayed in a

1:42:10

hotel once out west. And

1:42:12

I'm like, this place looks

1:42:14

like it's not a central casting. It has to

1:42:16

be haunted because it was very, very

1:42:19

historic. And I asked

1:42:21

somebody, and they essentially said, oh, we don't

1:42:23

talk about that. And then

1:42:25

I looked it up. And it turned out that

1:42:27

it was supposedly haunted. And it's like if you

1:42:29

walked in the place, it was like, it was

1:42:32

a beautiful hotel. I loved it.

1:42:34

And it would stay there again in a minute. But

1:42:37

you walked in, and it was like, oh,

1:42:39

this is like a central casting man. I

1:42:41

mean, everything is very historic, and they have

1:42:44

historic artifacts from the hotel's

1:42:47

history. So it's like, man, this place

1:42:49

is going to be haunted. Danny, thank

1:42:51

you so much for sharing this story,

1:42:53

and also for your long-time listenership to

1:42:55

the campfire. Yeah,

1:42:57

you bet. Thanks so much. Thank

1:42:59

you so much for tuning into the

1:43:02

campfire. I appreciate it very much. And

1:43:04

just a little bit of news

1:43:07

in addition to our 15th anniversary,

1:43:09

Campfire 6, the book, is now

1:43:11

complete. And we

1:43:13

are planning on releasing that on May 7th. Coming

1:43:17

up, it is a compilation of 65 spooky

1:43:20

stories from this very podcast, some of

1:43:22

our favorite stories. And I've got to

1:43:25

say, we really took our

1:43:27

time with this book eight years. But

1:43:30

I mean, we really went over it and

1:43:32

tried to make it as good as it could

1:43:34

possibly be. I think it's the strongest book we've

1:43:36

done yet in the series. There will be six

1:43:38

books when this one comes out. You can read

1:43:40

them in any order, but I think it makes

1:43:42

sense maybe to start with this new one that's

1:43:44

coming out May 7th. And the

1:43:46

plan is for it to be available at

1:43:48

Amazon. And basically, any book retailer,

1:43:50

that will be something new for this book.

1:43:53

We're going wide and we're going to sell it

1:43:55

on all the retailers, not just Amazon, although we

1:43:57

know they account for a huge percentage.

1:44:00
