Coming to you live from the Morningstar

0:03

Mission Sponsor Studios. This

0:05

is Carl and Crew mornings on

0:07

90.1 FM Moody Radio.

0:10

Okay, got a quick heads up for you. Boom crew.

0:13

Pardon the pun. Yeah.

0:19

Got this from Amazon this morning. At

0:22

1 a.m.. What are they? Sending emails

0:25

at 1 a.m. I don't know. Dear Amazon

0:27

Customer, we write to notify you of a potential

0:29

safety concern with the product that you purchased

0:32

on Amazon.com. I'm like retro.

0:35

I read on down. The product listed above

0:38

was not included in the American

0:40

Astronomical Society's list of

0:42

safe suppliers of solar eclipse

0:44

viewers and filters, and therefore

0:47

may not be safe for viewing

0:49

a solar eclipse.

0:51

Yeah, see.

0:52

If you still have this product. Out of an

0:54

abundance of caution, we recommend

0:56

you not use it for the upcoming

0:58

eclipse on April 8th. Well,

1:01

what can you use it for? They don't look that cool.

1:07

They're pretty basic. They're like paper

1:09

with like, now I find out it's brown

1:11

cellophane.

1:13

That's it.

1:14

Yeah. I mean, come on, let's just face

1:16

it. China doesn't really care about our eyeballs.

1:21

So they just president

1:23

G just got some clear cellophane and

1:25

they sprayed it brown and shipped it out.

1:28

Wow.

1:29

Please be careful. Good that they're giving.

1:31

People a heads up. And it's definitely a

1:33

word of caution to make sure that you're getting

1:36

quality, a quality product if

1:38

you are going to try to take a look.

1:40

That's why we're mentioning this. This is no joke

1:42

in Boom Crew.

1:42

Not at all.

1:43

I mean, I heard a story about

1:45

people that try to glimpse at eclipses.

1:48

Not good for your eyes. So

1:51

make sure you're getting something that's certified,

1:53

just that. You know what it is you're looking for.

1:56

You're looking for. Oh,

2:00

this. Be careful.

2:02

Because this one that we bought. Is

2:06

Benicki solar Eclipse Glasses

2:08

AAS approved 2024.

2:11

But they aren't.

2:12

Oh boy.

2:13

They say they lied.

2:15

So they lied. And

2:18

it said it was CE and ISO certified

2:20

safe shades for direct sun viewing.

2:23

No.

2:24

So they they're not good. Oh,

2:26

boy. That's even worse, isn't it? So

2:28

they didn't just sell them a solar eclipse glasses.

2:31

They actually said that they were certified and

2:33

approved. So.

2:40

I almost want to ask the boom crew, where do you get the real

2:42

things around here? Boom crew.

2:44

Where do you get the real things around here? I mean,

2:46

that's a fair question. Yeah. My

2:48

bride ordered these because they looked approved,

2:50

right? They said they were approved.

2:52

And it looks like it's a little bit harder to

2:54

to actually determine. Trying to

2:56

do a little research here. NASA has

2:58

an article out on it.

3:01

Ha!

3:02

Oh be careful, be careful.

3:03

Yeah. I mean, there's a I spread the word

3:06

to. If you've got friends that have bought

3:08

these glasses, make sure that because

3:10

you don't want. Look, be looking up at this

3:12

thing. Oh, if I hadn't gotten this notification,

3:14

I had those things. I'd be staring at the sun.

3:18

Little did I know, I got basically sunglasses

3:20

on if that. So

3:23

check it out, okay. Check

3:26

it out. And, uh, somebody said

3:28

Menard's save

3:30

big money and your eyes at menards.

3:32

Wow.

3:36

I'm everything you menards.

3:40

I think you.

3:40

Know they.

3:41

Have a breakfast buffet yet, but.

3:43

You know, they have a little hot dog stand. Do

3:45

they really? They asked us.

3:47

Well, every one of those joints do, don't they?

3:49

You go to Home Depot. Home Depot's

3:51

got those. I tell you what. How about once

3:53

a year? That sucker screams my name, says,

3:55

Carl, come

3:57

over here and get a Chicago dog.

3:59

And it just calls me. It's weird. It's like through

4:02

an audio system, I hear my voice.

4:04

I never knew that that was available. I

4:06

don't go to Home Depot often, but there's a menards

4:08

pretty close to my house. And so. So you're.

4:10

Saving big.

4:10

Money? I find myself there a

4:13

fair amount of time for a little, you know, a

4:15

front door mat or just a

4:17

salt for the sidewalk. Like just

4:19

random stuff. Let me go run over

4:21

to Ali.

4:21

And I.

4:23

Know I do look a little out of place

4:25

at menards, but, you.

4:26

Know, I love it. He's saving it big

4:28

money.

4:29

Saving money is, you know what? My favorite purchase

4:31

at menards.

4:32

Oh, boy.

4:33

Hold on. Can I guess.

4:34

You'll never guess.

4:36

I never will. You will.

4:37

Never guess. The best thing. The thing that I

4:39

brag about that I got at menards

4:41

because I got such a deal on it. You want

4:43

to try to guess?

4:45

Well, you see, I never will.

4:47

Give me your three, three guesses.

4:49

I'm gonna go totally non Ali

4:51

here. So I'm going to go two by four. Like

4:53

no dimension lumber gloves.

4:56

No uh,

4:58

a window.

4:59

No. Okay. So the best thing that

5:01

I've ever got at menards, they

5:03

sell these hats. These

5:05

winter hats.

5:06

Oh.

5:07

For, for, like workers,

5:10

for people who work outside for

5:12

$0.99. And

5:14

so I was like, wow. And they

5:16

had some, some looked very, you know, like your bright

5:18

construction kind of orange. Right.

5:20

But then they had like a really cool looking olive

5:22

green. It was very on trend

5:25

and then a Burgundy one. I

5:27

was so pumped. I got two hats for less than

5:29

$2.

5:30

Does it have their logo on it?

5:31

No, no.

5:32

It's just a cool winter hat,

5:34

a beanie. Do you have a light? Nope.

5:36

No light. $0.99

5:38

sent beanie from monopoly.

5:40

They come with head lice. How are

5:42

they so cheap?

5:43

I don't know.

5:44

So what? I'm wondering if they're.

5:45

Recycled because.

5:46

My dad makes fun of me. Because I was wearing it

5:48

all last winter and I was like, dad, you know where

5:50

I got this hat? He's like, is that your menards

5:52

hat again? That's right.

5:54

That's right.

5:55

99.

5:56

He had bought.

5:56

This. He had bought one. Also

5:59

takes one to know one. Dad, we're both thrifty.

6:03

I love it.

6:04

Okay, this is hilarious, man.

6:07

Uh, we

6:09

got go to a welding store and buy

6:11

a welding glasses. This

6:13

is like, aren't these, like, 80, 90

6:16

bucks for welding glasses?

6:18

And are those those work?

6:20

And we've got multiple people saying, look

6:22

through a welding helmet. Oh, there you go.

6:24

By the way. That's a good look for Halloween.

6:27

So you can double down just walk around with a

6:29

welding helmet on. You

6:31

flip the little door up so you can walk around and

6:33

see.

6:35

Kind of cute.

6:35

Best hot dogs ever at Home Depot.

6:38

Now they really aren't. But you know what's going

6:40

on? You're working hard out in the soil of

6:42

the land. You're out there in the terra firma. You come

6:44

in to get yourself another couple potted

6:46

plants. You've been sweating and

6:48

you're like, yeah, that's

6:51

why they taste so good. All

6:54

right. We're going to keep rolling here. Ali's

6:56

trying to get us derailed with all this nonsense.

6:59

$0.99.

7:00

He's. I mean.

7:02

Hey, I don't say I didn't give

7:04

you the inside scoop on a deal.

7:07

My welding helmet was 450

7:10

bucks. Yeah, I don't think. I

7:12

don't think I'm gonna beat this.

7:14

There it.

7:14

Is. I shouldn't even said that. I might find

7:16

in our little inbox. From Amazon

7:19

to welding helmet to my wife's kid again.

7:23

We'll be. We'll be standing out in the front yard.

7:25

Neighbors will be calling the police,

7:28

saying, we got a couple characters out

7:30

here with welding helmets on, looking.

7:32

Up at the sun.

7:34

It's a sight to behold. Pun

7:36

intended.

7:37

Oh, well. Yeah. Oh,

7:39

yeah.

7:41

Dad jokes just keep coming.

7:42

I do.

7:43

Okay. Coming up. Minute and a half. We got something

7:45

really cool. Really cool

7:47

thing here. His name's Justin. Boy, is he

7:49

a leader. Where did he come from?

7:52

Can I just give the punchline?

7:54

Go ahead.

7:55

Moody, he's a moody grad. You're gonna hear

7:57

a pretty cool story about a moody grad doing phenomenal

8:00

things.

8:01

Gotta go into work. Don't worry.

8:03

Check out the Carl and Crew show cast

8:06

wherever you like to stream. You're

8:08

listening to Carl and Crew morning's.

8:11

Well Boom crew. One of the things we love to feature

8:13

is the fact that God has got moody

8:15

grads all around the globe, and boy, have

8:17

we got a treat today.

8:19

Yeah. Justin Burkholder is the new

8:21

international director of team.

8:23

Team was founded in 1890. Rich history

8:26

of gospel witness and service on five

8:28

continents. Justin, you've been

8:30

serving for the last decade or so

8:32

in Guatemala. Tell us a little bit about that.

8:34

Yeah, family and I moved down here in 2013.

8:37

I grew up as a missionary kid in Mexico City,

8:39

and we've been serving in church planning, leadership

8:41

development here for the last ten years.

8:43

And the Lord's allowed us to do a variety of things globally

8:45

as well.

8:46

What's happened in missions that

8:48

I mean, with technology

8:51

I internet exposure,

8:53

everybody has a cell phone globally

8:56

or many people do. How's

8:58

missions changed? And as taking

9:00

over leadership of team, you got

9:02

to be running point a tip of the spear

9:04

here on what's changing in the world of missions

9:06

right, Justin?

9:07

Well, I hope so. You know, the world's

9:09

gotten a lot smaller, and I think the most significant

9:12

shift over the last century has been the growth of the

9:14

church, particularly in the global South. And so when

9:16

we look at, you know, the early 1900s,

9:18

the majority of Christians were in Europe, in the United

9:20

States, you know, beginning in 2000,

9:22

the majority of Christians in the global South. But as you

9:24

talk about the global sending process,

9:26

still the majority of missionaries that are sent

9:28

are sent from the United States and Europe. And so

9:31

there is huge potential in the church

9:33

in global South that we want to continue to

9:35

see resourced and strengthened

9:38

for them to participate in God's in God's mission

9:40

as well.

9:40

A quick question along those lines. How long

9:42

before it starts reversing the flow?

9:45

Almost like we change the Chicago River

9:47

flow missions. Flow starts

9:49

coming south to north.

9:51

I think there's already a fair amount of that happening,

9:53

probably a little less visible to some of us in

9:55

our circles and in the churches we might run in. We're

9:57

already seeing it in a variety of different ways, and particularly

9:59

through refugee groups and different migrant

10:01

populations. We've seen a lot of that take place.

10:04

Give us a little bit of the history, just a

10:06

broad picture to help us understand what

10:08

team is.

10:09

Team was founded by Frederick Fransen, who

10:11

was a good friend of D.L. Moody's, actually.

10:13

And, uh, he was, uh, he was

10:15

compelled by Hudson Taylor's

10:18

vision to send a thousand missionaries to

10:20

China. And so basically, he raised his hand

10:22

and said, I'll help out with a hundred. And so

10:24

he had friends in in Norway,

10:27

Finland, Germany. And he began to gather

10:29

a group of internationally diverse people

10:32

and began sending workers to,

10:34

uh, to China in particular, and shortly thereafter

10:36

began sending to other places like South

10:39

Africa, formerly Swaziland. And,

10:42

um, God just kind of blessed team.

10:44

And, uh, over the past 130 years,

10:46

by God's grace, we have not drifted

10:48

from that mission. There's still 3 billion people

10:50

who haven't heard about Jesus. And we want to be

10:52

able to engage with God's people around

10:54

the world to help facilitate the sending

10:57

of disciples into these places

10:59

where the gospel is less access

11:01

to be able to see disciples made and

11:03

missional churches established for God's glory.

11:05

Awesome. Justin Burkholder, a guest right

11:07

now graduate of Moody Bible

11:09

Institute in 2008, mind you, boom

11:11

crew. So hang on, we're going to put a banner ad

11:13

up in a moment. But I am always

11:15

curious to this. Where is the

11:17

gospel on fire right now

11:19

through your missionary exposure with team?

11:21

Where is it cooking?

11:23

You know, I mean, Latin America obviously is a place

11:25

where we're seeing significant growth and,

11:27

um, you know, God's at work blessing in

11:29

very, very rich ways. You know, I think we can certainly

11:31

talk about certain places in Asia

11:33

as well, places where there's significant

11:35

restriction to the gospel, Central Asia

11:37

and East Asia. There's a lot of restrictions

11:40

to the gospel. And yet, despite that restriction,

11:42

as we've seen over the course of Christian history,

11:44

people believe the message of Jesus. And

11:46

there's freedom and there's good news and the fact

11:48

that Jesus is king and people are multiplying

11:51

and disciples are being made. And so we're. Seeing

11:53

a lot of strength in the church in places

11:56

like Africa and Latin America in particular, is their

11:58

engagement than in now sending cross-cultural

12:00

disciples. And so as those churches have matured,

12:03

they're wanting to be a part of what God is doing

12:05

globally as he has been ever since

12:07

the beginning. Right? I mean, ever since acts one, we know that

12:09

this has been a global, a global deal.

12:11

Justin Burkholder, our guest, he becomes the new

12:13

international director of team, effective

12:15

July 1st this year. If you want more information

12:18

on this ministry team.org

12:20

team. Org. Justin, we got

12:22

to ask you a little bit about your experience at

12:25

Moody. What kind of training

12:27

ground has this been both for you

12:29

and for you said the moody impact is

12:31

felt across team. Yeah.

12:33

You know I mean Moody I think has a really strong history

12:35

of of not just training academically

12:38

but really people being compelled by

12:40

gospel need. You know, and I think we see that from

12:42

the very beginning. And Dr. Moody's passion

12:44

for seeing people actually believe the gospel. And for

12:46

me, Moody gave me the tools

12:48

not just to be able to study

12:50

the scriptures well, but being able to study

12:52

in a city like Chicago and be engaged

12:55

in the things that are happening around that city,

12:57

and the nuances and the cultural dynamics

12:59

and the cultural diversity really prepared

13:02

me as we're thinking about deep

13:04

theological concepts in that type

13:06

of a cultural hotbed. It was a beautiful

13:08

experience in shaping me, and I know

13:10

that there are so many people, every country that I visit and

13:12

visit team missionaries, visit team workers.

13:14

There's a couple of people that are that are there that are

13:16

moody grads or have some type of affiliations,

13:18

Moody, and not just Americans.

13:21

You know, I'm I'm visiting all sorts of people

13:23

who in their past, you know, there's

13:26

believers from other nations that have

13:28

been impacted by moody family

13:30

members that have gone there. And so there's there's a

13:32

pretty big footprint that it would be awesome to be able

13:34

to trace more systematically.

13:36

Justin, I'm fired up for you, I really

13:38

am. I hear the timber of your voice

13:40

and the tenor of your spirit and bro,

13:43

I got to believe that God really

13:45

did providentially promote

13:48

you into this position and Godspeed. July

13:50

1st of this year. Man, I'm really

13:52

proud of you. Justin never met you before, but

13:54

I'm really proud of you. Way to go. I really.

13:56

Appreciate that. Really appreciate that, brother. Thank you.

13:58

That website again team.org

14:01

team org. As we

14:03

mentioned, Justin is a

14:05

moody grad which gives us an opportunity

14:07

to point you to something really special happening

14:09

that we've worked with the admissions department to

14:12

offer. A really cool perk.

14:14

For those of you who may be considering

14:17

an education here at Moody Bible Institute,

14:19

you hear an experience like Justin Burkholder. He

14:21

got the kind of training that he needed to go

14:23

into ministry that's

14:25

impacting the world. And we've heard this

14:27

from many, many moody grads. So if you want to

14:29

consider education here at Moody Bible

14:32

Institute, we've got a promo code that's going to waive

14:34

the application fee. And then if you go

14:36

through that process are admitted and actually

14:38

enroll, they're going to drop $500

14:41

in your account when you enroll in

14:43

the fall. Carl just walked

14:45

back in from a coffee break.

14:47

And he's so quiet yelling

14:49

in the background.

14:49

Yeah, it's Freedom Friday. I just want to make sure I stepped

14:52

in here to affirm you. Ali. Whatever is Ali selling?

14:54

It's good. Wow. Whatever she's

14:56

selling, I'd get some, too, if.

14:58

I were you.

14:58

That entrance.

15:00

What are you selling, Ali?

15:01

That selling Moody Bible Institute.

15:04

There's a promo code. There's a $500

15:06

bonus when you are admitted and

15:08

actually enroll. So go ahead and text the

15:10

word moody. We'll send you all the details. Text Moody

15:12

to (312) 274-9624.

15:16

Moody to (312) 274-9624.

15:20

How encouraging is it? On a serious

15:22

note, I could walking in here totally disrupting

15:24

Ali. Sorry about that, kiddo. She's

15:27

such a, you know, you.

15:29

You and my bride. Not as many as my

15:31

bride. But you will get some extra rewards

15:33

for having to put up with me here on Earth.

15:35

Gotta believe it. Oh, my wife

15:37

says there's going to be rooms and rooms and stuff

15:40

for her.

15:40

That yes, they're willing.

15:42

Hey, easy now.

15:44

I'm just just messing with you.

15:45

Oh my goodness. But in all

15:47

seriousness, how cool is it

15:49

that we have so many people responding

15:52

to this offer that we have for the boom crew?

15:54

I think it's it's such a great thing

15:56

to hear about what Moody

15:59

alumni are doing and this, this story.

16:01

And we're going to be featuring more of these, because

16:04

the impact of the vision

16:06

that D.L. Moody had, the place that he established

16:09

that God has been so faithful to sustain

16:11

for more than 100 years. And

16:13

you hear these stories and go, man, I,

16:15

I could be a part of that. Yes, I

16:17

could be a part of that.

16:18

That's exactly you nailed it. I

16:21

can be a part of this movement.

16:23

Right.

16:23

And it's ordinary people who have a love

16:25

for God and a passion to live out

16:27

their calling, whatever that is,

16:29

and to be really trained to do

16:32

so with excellence. That's what's happening

16:34

here at Moody Bible Institute. So we're just casting

16:36

the net and inviting you to jump

16:39

in.

16:39

You know, I'm going to be bold. I feel compelled

16:41

by this mainly because of the interview with Justin,

16:44

but. If

16:46

you're a leader. Oftentimes

16:49

leaders have missed.

16:51

They've missed this.

16:54

The amount of leaders that we need

16:57

in the movement for

16:59

movement of the gospel, whether it's with team

17:01

or church leadership

17:03

or you name it. I mean, one of the coolest

17:05

things that I've ever seen are people that

17:08

come out of the marketplace, get trained,

17:10

get a degree in Bible, and then go

17:12

back and reuse that gifting

17:14

that God's given them in a different

17:17

way. Now, I'm not saying marketplace is a bad

17:19

place to be with your leadership gifting him be salt

17:21

and light, but there's a certain number

17:23

of you that maybe, as I'm sharing, that

17:25

are going, yeah, shoot,

17:28

I need to think about that text. Moody

17:31

to (312) 274-9624.

17:35

Moody to (312) 274-9624.

17:39

We'll get that off to you. Really cool.

17:42

Okay. Coming up here in a minute and a half. We'll tell

17:44

you where we're going here today. I did

17:46

just talk to my bride. That's always late. Ducking back

17:48

in here she said, you know, but I, I

17:50

had heard that these eclipse

17:53

glasses, some of them were bogus. So I

17:55

specifically found the ones that

17:57

were supposedly rated.

17:59

And then those.

17:59

Are.

18:00

And those are the ones that we get word back on

18:02

that are no good. So be

18:04

careful out there, folks. More

18:06

details coming up on that.

18:07

Also coming up, a little Young

18:09

Thunder update for you.

18:12

We'll tell you where you can see

18:15

a little picture of his little bundle

18:17

of joy. And we're going to tell you her name.

18:19

Yeah I call her Teeny Thunder.

18:22

Teeny. It's not baby thunder. She is tiny.

18:25

Teeny tiny. Cute. Cuter in a

18:27

bug's ear. Details. Coming up.

18:30

Your shot of hope to make it through

18:32

the day. It's Carl and crew.

18:34

Morning.

18:35

Oh, boy. Have we got a big announcement for you?

18:37

Boom crew.

18:39

Oh, man. You've been asking.

18:41

Some of you have been asking for some baby

18:44

news. If you have not heard young

18:46

Thunder and his bride became new

18:48

mom and dad a little over a week

18:50

ago, they welcomed sweet

18:53

Elliana Joy. Her name

18:55

is Eliana Joy. We put a couple

18:57

pictures up of the proud

18:59

parents and the sweet little one

19:01

up on Facebook and Instagram. Just search

19:03

Carl and crew and they shared

19:05

a little note that they have for

19:08

their daughter that they wanted to share with you as well.

19:10

So if you want to see little Eliana, Joy and

19:12

Young Thunder and his bride, check out

19:14

Facebook, Instagram, Carl and crew mornings.

19:17

Pretty cool.

19:18

Parents and baby are doing well.

19:22

Really cool stuff. Nothing

19:25

like having a baby pick.

19:27

Well, I will say this. This will.

19:29

This has already become our

19:31

most popular post.

19:34

It will be quite some time

19:36

this week.

19:37

It will be. And it.

19:38

Should be. Oh, boy.

19:39

This is an innocent, precious little baby.

19:42

I get pumped to see new parents.

19:45

Yeah. New parents.

19:46

The excitement, the joy. I'm really

19:48

happy for young Thunder and his bride, Shannon.

19:51

Pretty cool. Okay, um,

19:54

check it out. Carl and crew. Check

19:56

it out right there. We've

20:00

been tackling all week for appearances that Jesus

20:02

wants to make in your life. The only challenges

20:05

is what if you're honest with

20:08

yourself and it's like Jesus has never

20:10

shown up in your space like that.

20:13

It could be for a very

20:15

practical good reason.

20:17

And we're going to give that to you coming up here

20:19

in just a little bit. Good morning Boone crew. It's

20:21

freedom Friday. Boy,

20:24

we got a lot going on here.

20:25

We do. It's a.

20:25

Good day.

20:27

Boom crew, celebrate what God

20:29

is doing in you. This is Carl

20:31

and crew.

20:32

Mornings for appearances

20:34

Jesus wants to make in your life, in your tears,

20:36

in your fears, in your doubts, in

20:38

your needs. And this is

20:41

awesome. Unless

20:43

it's unacceptable. Matter

20:46

of fact, I'm not.

20:46

Going to delay.

20:47

I'm going to get right into this. These

20:51

four appearances are told

20:53

by John in the Gospel of John.

20:55

And the question is why? Because God wants to show

20:57

up in your life. But why

21:00

did he pick these four? Well, they're relevant,

21:02

aren't they? In your tears, man.

21:05

We're going to cry in your fears.

21:08

Anyone live in Chicagoland? In

21:11

your doubts. And

21:13

in your needs. All four of those are so

21:15

relevant to all of us. No one escapes

21:17

those kind of things in our life. No one

21:19

does. But

21:22

the question is. How

21:24

were they accessed? In John

21:27

answers it right here in John 2030 and

21:29

31. Now, Jesus did

21:31

many other signs in the presence of

21:33

the disciples which are not written in this

21:35

book. But these are written

21:37

so that you may believe that

21:40

Jesus is the Christ,

21:42

the Son of God. And

21:44

that by believing you may have life in

21:46

his name. Now

21:49

this word belief is

21:52

the Greek word pestis. And

21:55

I'm kind of changing the pronunciation because

21:57

if you pronounce it exactly right. So

22:01

like one of those words, you don't want to yell out a lot,

22:03

but it's a it's a word

22:06

that means more

22:08

than just intellectually

22:10

understanding that Jesus came

22:12

to earth. It's

22:15

a surrender of our

22:17

totality into the very arms

22:20

of that God. It's an active

22:22

belief. It's a surrendered

22:24

belief. And

22:27

I just want to tell you this morning

22:29

the potential for you to not be born

22:31

again, but believe

22:33

in Jesus is real. Now

22:37

I'm gonna say that again. The potential

22:39

for you to not be born again.

22:43

But to believe in Jesus is real.

22:45

How do we know that? James,

22:48

that brother of Jesus said, the demons

22:50

believe. They

22:52

believe in God. Do

22:54

you know that the the demons believe in

22:57

God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy

22:59

Spirit as entities, right?

23:02

But have they surrendered their lives

23:04

in their totality of their beings to them?

23:06

No, no, not at

23:08

all. Now.

23:11

Jesus did many other signs in the presence

23:13

of the disciples which are not written

23:15

in this book, but these are written so

23:18

that you may believe that Jesus

23:20

is the Christ, the Son of God. And by

23:22

believing you may have zo a

23:24

Greek word there life in

23:26

his name. And here's

23:28

the kicker, guys. If

23:31

you want Jesus to show up in your tears,

23:33

in your fears, in your doubts, in your needs,

23:36

that is a relational.

23:40

Dynamic with the

23:42

creator of all things that you

23:44

don't get by mentally

23:47

believing. It's the surrender

23:49

of all that you are. And

23:51

I'm just going to keep it right here, right now. And I

23:53

just want you to ask yourself a question.

23:56

Have I ever been visited

23:59

by Jesus? In

24:01

my tears, in my fears, in my

24:03

doubts, in my needs? Or is

24:05

Jesus this concept, a belief

24:07

system that's kind of out here? I've got my arm extended.

24:09

He's kind of out here. And

24:12

you have a belief in him

24:14

as an entity, but he's never

24:16

personally invaded

24:18

your space. And

24:23

John is just appealing here. Ali, he's

24:25

saying, I want you. These

24:27

are written, I wrote these down so that you

24:30

would believe and

24:32

in this is an active, engaged

24:34

belief that says, God,

24:37

I believe that

24:39

you are the Son of God, and

24:42

that belief moves you

24:44

into this life that can only be

24:46

gathered up as you come to the end

24:48

of yourself and say. I

24:50

believe so much. That

24:54

I'm done being the Lord of my life.

24:58

I surrender my mind, my

25:01

actions, my thinking,

25:03

I surrender. I think this is a good word

25:05

for this morning. I surrender my space

25:08

to God and I invite him into my space.

25:10

See if you don't surrender your space

25:12

to God, how is he going to visit you and your tears

25:15

if you don't surrender your space to God?

25:17

How is he going to meet you in your fears? How

25:19

it ain't going to happen, or your doubts

25:22

or your needs? And

25:26

we say it here often, but the illusion

25:29

of salvation is so profound

25:32

and they can look so similar.

25:35

Let me remind you of a story that the that

25:37

Jesus told. The

25:39

disciples came to him and said, hey, you want us to get

25:41

the weeds out of here? And

25:44

Jesus said, no, don't tear up the

25:46

weeds because

25:48

you might get the wheat as well. There

25:50

was this thing called tares

25:53

that simulated wheat.

25:55

It kind of look like it, right? And

25:58

they would grow up together. But Jesus

26:00

said, at the end of all time,

26:03

what I will do is I will sort it out

26:05

then because you as disciples, you as

26:07

human beings, you're you might

26:09

grab up wheat and think

26:11

that you're you're tearing up weeds.

26:13

And conversely, the other

26:15

thing might happen, but here's

26:18

here's the bottom line. You

26:20

stand before God this morning.

26:24

And the Holy Spirit will reveal to

26:26

you if you're a weed or a wheat.

26:29

Right now, I'm just breaking

26:31

it down for you as clearly as I can right

26:34

now. But

26:36

if God's doing work in your life,

26:38

the Holy Spirit might be telling you. And

26:42

you might hear something like this. You've never been born

26:44

again. You've never

26:46

had Zoe life. You've

26:49

never believed beyond an

26:51

intellectual understanding that Jesus

26:54

is real, you've never brought

26:56

Jesus. I want to start using this more and more

26:58

into your space. You've never

27:00

let Jesus into your space.

27:03

He's been out there. Today's

27:06

your day of salvation. That's why we call it Freedom

27:08

Friday. And

27:11

I know this is a big kind

27:13

of moment for you. That's

27:16

awesome. I'm so

27:18

glad that we can provide that for

27:20

you in some small way. You're right. Ali.

27:22

Yeah, because you got to get there.

27:23

You have to.

27:26

And do you know how many people have

27:29

been under this false illusion

27:32

that they have salvation? Can

27:34

I tell you, friend? I was that kid

27:36

for 23 years. Ali

27:39

was that kid. She doesn't even know exactly how

27:41

long it was. But you were that kid, right?

27:43

Sure. Super

27:45

die raised Greek Orthodox. Yeah,

27:47

but you were that kid. You would have said

27:50

at some level you knew God.

27:52

I would assume right.

27:53

Exactly.

27:53

Because you were Greek Orthodox man.

27:56

Sure. No,

27:59

you must be born again, Jesus told Nicodemus

28:01

in the middle of the night. You

28:04

know what? We're in the middle of the morning here, and I got to tell you, you

28:06

must be born again. And

28:09

if you've never surrendered your life to Jesus

28:11

today, today is the day. And I want you to pray

28:13

with me right now and just tell him, Jesus, I

28:15

have believed you from afar, but I've never

28:18

invited you in to take over my space.

28:21

Today. The depth of my belief

28:23

is saving belief for the first time

28:26

in my life, and I'm humbling myself.

28:28

And I can't even believe that this is happening.

28:31

But I give my life to you.

28:34

Tell them that. I

28:37

believe you died for

28:39

my sins. And it's

28:41

not academic. It's

28:43

real. And I'm saying

28:46

save me. I

28:51

believe you rose again,

28:53

and you're alive today. And I'm

28:55

saying come into my space. I

29:01

want to be visited by you. I

29:05

want to know the power of salvation. I

29:10

turned around today. Tell

29:12

him this. This is the acid test. Count the cost,

29:14

my friend. I turn

29:16

away from walking my own way on

29:18

a broad path. Today,

29:21

I turned to follow Jesus Christ for the first

29:23

time in my life ever today.

29:28

And if that's you, that's the cry of your heart

29:30

right now. And you've

29:32

never before. Never

29:35

before believed unto

29:38

salvation. Believed unto Zoe. Life

29:40

believed in to letting Jesus into your space,

29:42

into your tears, your fears, your doubts and

29:44

your needs. And you're ready to be alive in Christ

29:46

Jesus. Today we want to help

29:49

you. And we've got something so practical.

29:51

And I'm asking you to. Before Ali gives

29:53

you this, get your phone out.

29:55

Get to the side of the road. Because this

29:58

is a new marker. This is like,

30:00

this is the line in the dirt. You just crossed

30:02

the threshold and you're not going back

30:05

because God has got a brand new plan

30:07

for you.

30:07

Just text the word. Welcome to (312) 274-9624.

30:12

Text the word new text new

30:15

NSW to (312) 274-9624.

30:19

New to (312) 274-9624.

30:24

All right I'm going to keep it right here in

30:26

this little link that we're sending you. There's

30:28

some really important stuff.

30:31

And in that link are embedded three other

30:33

links. And they're

30:36

going to help you find a church. They're going to

30:38

help you take your first steps. We've got some

30:40

quick start things we're going to send your way. We've

30:42

got a we've got a little

30:44

thing that gives you, we get

30:46

your physical address and we're going to send

30:48

you a hard copy of a tool that's going

30:51

to help you walk in God's power, no

30:53

longer in your strength. All this

30:55

stuff is right embedded in that

30:57

thing. Just text the word new right

30:59

now, wherever you are. This is a brand new

31:01

day. It's a brand new day for you.

31:04

And if there's about one person

31:07

that surrenders to Jesus today, God

31:09

had this message for you. Text

31:12

the word new. To (312) 274-9624.

31:19

Just the word new to (312) 274-9624.

31:27

Giving hope directly from the

31:29

source where Carl and crew mornings.

31:31

We're going to shout out to numbers here. Ali,

31:33

take it away.

31:34

Yeah, we want to.

31:35

Say welcome to the family. 96684639716892024126

31:43

31:45

digits of your phone number 9282

31:48

31:51

31:54

2 or 2 006.

31:57

And I don't know if you got these 46397168.

32:00

Maybe it did. But welcome to the family guys.

32:03

Awesome. And there's

32:05

so many of you that have been

32:07

coming to Christ lately that it's the first time

32:09

you've ever texted us. And we just.

32:12

That's maybe one of the greatest evidences

32:14

that God is doing something radical

32:16

in your life. And, um, we're

32:18

just grateful, aren't we?

32:20

Yeah. Really grateful for what.

32:21

God's doing in you. It's tremendous.

32:23

Two four, two zero just came

32:25

in. Okay, coming up in a couple

32:28

of minutes, we're going to break down where we're going here

32:30

today. We got a lot going on. Did

32:33

you know did you know

32:35

that we have a cool event that's coming

32:37

up. Because

32:39

leveraging resources toward Kingdom

32:41

Gold. Oh my goodness. It's an

32:44

awesome thing to do. And some of you are

32:46

positioned at a point right now where you're asking

32:48

those kind of questions. We'll give you details.

32:51

Helping you take the next step in your

32:53

walk with Jesus. This is Carol

32:56

and crew mornings. I want to give.

32:57

You a heads up. I found out about a week and a half

32:59

ago I'm going to be at an event on

33:02

the 23rd of April, and some of you

33:04

do preplanning, especially if you're

33:06

probably in this stage of life and this is going

33:08

to be relevant to you. So I didn't

33:10

want to let you know a week before. We

33:12

want to let you know a couple of weeks before, but on

33:14

April 23rd in

33:17

Oakbrook, actually Christ Bible

33:19

Church in Oakbrook, we're going to have this

33:21

really cool thing. And I've been at one

33:23

of these. They're tremendous. The

33:26

NBA is doing an estate

33:29

planning seminar, and unapologetically,

33:32

we're giving a pitch to people that

33:34

are planning their estate,

33:36

both living and when they pass on unapologetically

33:48

is a golden opportunity and the kind of people

33:51

that were at this first one I was at Ali. They

33:53

are just salt of the earth folks and

33:55

they come in by the droves. They want to be faithful

33:57

stewards.

33:57

Yeah, through and through.

33:59

hands and say hi to everyone right at the jump,

34:15

love. I don't know that I can stay for the whole

34:17

thing, because guess what? Carl has to go to bed

34:19

every now and then, but

34:22

I'll be there for a while for sure. But I'd love

34:32

giving you a heads up, get it on the calendar.

34:34

Legacy. I'd love to see you there. And there's

34:36

there's no arm twisting. You're going to have

34:38

major experts. I mean, tax law

34:40

lawyers type folks here that are going to

34:42

be at this thing with a biblical worldview,

34:45

get questions answered out the wazoo.
