Mayo Clinic School of Medicine (MCSOM) is working on a national level to recast medical education curricula and delivery to prepare future physicians for the needs of their patients and tomorrow’s health care challenges. MSCOM has just opened a brand new campus in Scottsdale, Arizona to help the next generation of doctors meet these challenges. The new Arizona site along with Rochester, MN and Jacksonville, FL create a premiere medical school with a unique national footprint featuring three distinct campuses. The traditional medical education hasn’t changed in more than 100 years. Two years of basic science and two years of clinical training is no longer enough to prepare the next generation of physicians to meet the challenges of patient care in the future. Quite simply, medical education needs to change.
