Hello again and welcome back to Kids
0:04
Bible Stories. Today's story
0:06
is called, What if David
0:09
had a bad attitude? This
0:13
comes from 1 Samuel chapter 17, verses 17-24 and 40-48. Today's
0:20
episode is made possible thanks to the very
0:22
kind generosity from Catherine, Elijah,
0:25
Selah, Rebecca, and Jack. They've listened
0:27
to every single episode. And
0:30
thank you to Nancy, Josiah,
0:32
Betsy, and Judah, who
0:34
have been listening for years and years.
0:37
I am so grateful. Thank you, you guys. And
0:41
we have a quick note from today's sponsors.

1:37
Parents, Hya vitamins has been such
1:40
a win for my family that I wanted to share with
1:42
yours. Typical kids vitamins
1:44
are filled with five grams of sugar and other gummy
1:46
junk. Seriously, look at
1:48
your ingredients list. It's habit for me to do this
1:51
and you'll see what's really in your products versus
1:53
what the marketing label on the front says.
1:56
Hya was created differently. It
1:59
has zero sugar. and zero gummy junk.
2:01
Formulated with the help of nutritional experts, Hya
2:04
is pressed with a blend of 12 organic fruits
2:06
and veggies, then supercharged with 15
2:09
essential vitamins and minerals, including
2:11
vitamin D, B12, C,
2:13
zinc, folate, and many others. It's
2:15
non-GMO, vegan, dairy-free,
2:18
allergy-free, gelatin-free, and nut-free.
2:21
I was happy to see
2:21
even my pickiest eater liked the taste,
2:24
which matters because what's the use of having
2:26
a good quality product if your kids won't
2:28
use it?
2:29
We've worked out a special deal with Hya
2:32
for their best-selling children's vitamin. You
2:34
receive 50% off your first order.
2:37
To get this deal, though, you must go to hyahealth.com
2:40
slash kbs. The deal is not
2:42
available on their regular website. Go
2:45
to h-i-y-a
2:46

2:49
dot com slash kbs and
2:51
get your kids the full body nourishment they need
2:54
to grow into healthy adults. The link will
2:56
also be in today's show notes. Okay,
2:59
now we begin today's story. David
3:07
was just a normal boy,
3:09
but had been anointed
3:11
to become the next
3:13
king. Yes,
3:18
that's right, a king.
3:21
But for now, he was still
3:24
helping his father watch after the sheep in the fields.
3:27
David protected
3:28
the sheep from the bears and the
3:30
lions that roamed the woods. He
3:35
made sure each white fluffy sheep
3:38
was safe from these beasts. One
3:42
day, his father
3:44
asked him, Oh, hey
3:46
David, uh, yeah, I want you to go
3:48
down to your brothers who were on
3:50
the battle lines and maybe bring them
3:53
some of this delicious loaf of breads and
3:55
some butter. And, uh, and here, bring
3:57
them bring them these crackers too.
4:01
You see, there was a group
4:03
of people called the Stilestines who
4:05
wanted to fight David's people
4:07
who were called the Israelites.
4:10
So David obeyed his father. Even
4:14
though he was to be a king, he
4:17
did a very ordinary thing, like
4:20
bringing his brother's food. He
4:24
packed up the food into his little backpack,
4:27
and off he went to find his brothers. When
4:33
he arrived, he could hear the giant
4:36
named Goliath,
4:37
teasing his brothers and
4:39
the other soldiers. Na
4:42
na na na boo boo,
4:44
you can't beat
4:47
me.
4:53
He laughed his monstrous laugh. Everyone
4:57
was scared of Goliath, even
5:00
David's brothers. But
5:03
when David heard what was happening, oh,
5:06
he was hot.
5:08
No
5:10
one was going to talk about his God that way.
5:14
David had faith God would
5:16
help him win this battle and beat
5:19
Goliath. So
5:21
David took his own staff in his hand,
5:26
went and chose five smooth
5:28
stones from the clear blue stream, put
5:33
them in the pouch of the shepherd's bag, and
5:36
with the sling in his hand, he began
5:38
to walk towards Goliath. There
5:45
he stood. David
5:48
raised his hand into the air,
5:51
whipped the slingshot around and
5:53
around, and
5:55
launching the stone, he took
5:58
down Goliath.
6:00
David was
6:01
victorious. Now,
6:09
we know how this story ends,
6:12
but David didn't know this would happen.
6:15
When he rolled out of his bed that morning, he
6:18
had no clue this was going to
6:20
be such a big day. It
6:23
was such an ordinary day.
6:26
Sit up, have breakfast,
6:31
feed the sheep,
6:33
obey what his dad said to do. But
6:38
let's play a game of what
6:41
if.
6:43
We're going to rewind back to that everyday
6:46
moment when David's dad asked
6:49
him to go bring food to his
6:51
brothers. What
6:53
if David missed the big
6:55
day because he had
6:57
a bad attitude? Let's
7:01
see what might have happened.
7:09
One day his father asked him,
7:12
Oh, hey David. Yeah, I want
7:14
you to go down to the battle
7:17
lines there and bring your brothers one
7:19
of these delicious loaves of breads. And
7:21
here bring him some butter too and
7:23
yeah, bring him these crackers.
7:26
What if
7:27
David said, Oh,
7:29
I guess.
7:31
Don't you know I'm going to be king
7:34
one day. He rolls
7:36
his eyes as he gathers the food
7:38
for his brothers.
7:40
He feels so annoyed by
7:42
what his dad asked him to do that
7:44
he slams the door shut rattling
7:47
the dishes in the cupboard.
7:48
He stopped
7:50
mumbling to himself. I'm
8:02
not thankful for any
8:04
of this stuff.
8:08
David finally arrives and delivers
8:11
the food to his brothers. With
8:13
a scowl on his face, David
8:15
plops the food at their
8:16
feet
8:18
and is in such a bad
8:20
mood
8:21
that he doesn't even hear Goliath taunting
8:24
his people. Just
8:27
only about how he feels, David
8:31
doesn't have time to look up and see
8:33
Goliath.
8:35
Instead,
8:36
he turns around, huffs
8:39
and puffs, and walks back
8:41
home to lay on his bed and watch
8:45
TV. Well,
8:52
that is it for our story today, but
8:55
before we go, let's think
8:57
about what we just
8:58
heard.
9:00
Now, we know in real life, David
9:02
did obey with a happy
9:04
heart.
9:05
He provided his brothers with the food and
9:08
saw the giant. What's
9:10
the giant's name again?
9:14
Goliath.
9:16
And did David beat Goliath?
9:20
Yes. That's right.
9:25
In the second part of our made up
9:27
story, we played What
9:29
If. In this story,
9:32
did David have a bad attitude? Yes.
9:37
Have you ever had a bad attitude when
9:39
your parents or teachers ask
9:41
you to do something that seems
9:42
so normal, like
9:44
chores or school work? Sometimes.
9:50
I think we all do at times. Tell
9:54
me out loud right now a chore that
9:56
you have.
10:01
I have to dust the windows
10:04
and the tables.
10:06
Thanks for sharing. Well,
10:09
in our what-if story, you
10:11
can see the difference David's bad
10:13
attitude makes. A
10:16
lot of times, our attitude
10:18
can be changed if we look for
10:21
things to be thankful for. If
10:24
David really had acted ungrateful,
10:27
he could have missed beating Goliath,
10:30
saving his people, and glorifying
10:33
God. If
10:37
all David could think about was himself
10:39
and didn't see the things he could be thankful for
10:42
right now, he'd
10:44
miss out. We
10:46
know that David did the everyday,
10:49
ordinary things with a cheerful
10:51
heart, working for God, and
10:54
to his surprise, his day
10:56
ended up being more important than
10:58
he could have ever imagined. So
11:03
today,
11:04
when you are at school or home,
11:07
remember that you can be like
11:09
David.
11:11
You can choose a thankful
11:13
attitude while you do everyday
11:16
chores. When
11:18
you do the dishes,
11:20
you can thank. God thanks for the
11:22
food I have that makes the dishes
11:24
dirty. As you clean your home,
11:26
think.
11:27
Thank you, God, that my
11:29
parents bought me these things.
11:31
Do your everyday work
11:34
with thanks because you
11:37
know God sees
11:38
it, and all of these
11:40
good things have come
11:42
from him. Well,
11:47
that's it for our story today. For
