Yes, we said it was episode 105, no there isn’t a missing episode 104.  Whoops.

Anyway!  In Adventures in Knitting, Karen and Maggie both went to the Kitchener-Waterloo Knitters’ Fair!  We met awesome listeners!  We bought yarn and fleece!  Our credit cards took a great deal of damage!  So, you know, as usual. image  Meanwhile, Maggie has acquired a loom, though she still needs a couple bits and pieces and to learn how to actually use it before she weaves anything.  Of course that gives her more time to work on mostly super secret stuff for the swap, though she did also finish her mother’s shawl on time!  Karen’s working her brains out on her Rhinebeck sweater (message from the future: this status has not changed) as well as designing and working on her swap project and on the Myrtle scarf for her mother from some yarn from last year’s Rhinebeck.

In Geek Squee, Karen and Maggie also went to FanExpo!  There was some cosplay and the MingNa Wen panel and the Hayley Atwell panel (#peggysarmy!) and some super awesome people and lots of awesome stuff, if also some super long, hot days and SO MANY PEOPLE OMG.  Also, Karen’s having a meltdown over the promos for the new season of Agents of SHIELD (message from the future: that also hasn’t changed).  We also discuss the case of the teen from Texas who was arrested for building a clock and the awesomeness that ensued, as well as the cool discovery of a new entry in human evolution by an all-female team of scientists (and caving badasses because holy crap claustrophobia).

In Cravings, Covets and Crushes, one of the booths we saw at the Knitter’s Fair and that Karen had to restrain herself from spending all the money at is Georgian Bay Fibre Co., who has AMAZING STUFF, and Karen’s found a sweater pattern for the music nerd in your life, and which offers opportunity for super nerdy modifications.

WE’RE GOING TO RHINEBECK!  We’ll be at the Ravelry meetups at “the hill” at noon on Saturday and Sunday as well as the podcasters meetup at 1pm on Saturday in the same place, and we’ll be walking around the fair wearing our Knit 1 Geek 2 or Agents of SHEEP t-shirts (Karen will also have her Peggy Carter hat!) so if you see us, say hello!  And if you’re taking the Empire Service train south to Rhinecliff early on the Friday, look for us on the train!  We love meeting listeners and there could be recording on the train/at the fair, so….

Also, we’re on Periscope!  Follow us (@knit1geek2) so you’ll see when we’re doing a live broadcast or catch the broadcast in replay in the next 24 hours afterward.  There will likely be Periscoping from the house in Rhinebeck. :D:D:D

Want to share your thoughts on the movies/tv/science geekery we’ve discussed, or found something geeky to share? Comment here at the blog, email us at [email protected] or participate in the thread on our Ravelry group!  Want to know when new episodes go live or see the occasional bit of news?  Check out our Twitter feed (@knit1geek2)!  And as always, we have merch in our Zazzle.com and Zazzle.ca stores. image
