This is the second time I’ve had Piers Thompson on the show and I wanted to see how far Portobello Radio had become since the previous I Love The Grove episode?

As Piers himself puts it “Going great guns!”, The radio show celebrate the rich cultural and ethnic diversity of Portobello Road.

Portobello Radio, a station (online) run by Ladbroke Grove residents Piers Thompson, Chris Sullivan and Greg Weir being listened to all over the world via the KPH; and on Saturdays from the Westbank on opposite Ladbroke Grove tube station.

It has everything from local issues, local DJs and funk music. Piers and the Portobello Radio team have created an initiative called ‘Rising Stars’ with the purpose of unearthing and promoting local talent.

Mixed with local news and gossip from in and around Portobello, they play funk, classic rhythm and blues, dub, salsa, disco and soul.

Piers has lived his entire life in this area and music is everywhere. He loves the huge diversity of people playing and making music in Ladbroke Grove whether well known or undiscovered.

Every Friday from 1pm-3pm The Portobello Radio Show broadcasts news, music and a slice of Portobello history from the KPH and Saturdays from Westbank
