Not everyone was meant to be a leader. Some need training for it, and some are born with the skill set to do it. In today’s episode, Timika Thrasher shares her story of those who saw more in her and encouraged her to rise up to her true potential. She explains how this path is what led her to become the C.E.O of the Boys and Girls Club of Frederick County.

Timika has worked hard to help the children in her community and has some major plans for future projects and community support. She’s working to provide the tools and support to parents, as well as bring community members together. This includes but isn’t limited to clubs, public outreach programs, partnering with counselors, partnering with police, working with schools and other organizations.

About Timika Thrasher:

Timika is the C.E.O. of the Boys and Girls Club of Frederick County. She is full of energy and passion for making a difference in our community. She also owns a commercial cleaning business with her husband. Starting that business allowed her the flexibility to decide where she wanted to be helpful, and what organizations she wanted to volunteer for. Though she was unfamiliar with the Boys and Girls Club in Frederick County at the time, she was asked if she wanted to be a sponsor for an event. This all led her into becoming a board member on the board party, which ultimately led her to becoming the C.E.O.

“We say it starts with the kids and it really does, because we have to teach them young. But again, if we're not supporting the parents, what good is that doing? Because, then they get home and they're not doing the same things that we're doing in school or the same things that we're doing at the clubhouse. And so you can't expect so much. When you're not really supporting the families or, or giving them the tools for them to be successful, to be able to help their children.”
