Once upon a time, people learned trades or skills from a skilled employer until they mastered the work for themselves. The practice was called an apprenticeship. And it especially common in skilled trades. Fast forward to today and there remains a market for apprenticeships of sorts, through they may look different. Not all learners will seek to go to college after high school; yet, it's important that they have a work plan that can lead to a career. Peerro is a technology platform that was started as a way to encourage young people to build the skills needed to be successful in their careers. It has grown to become the connection point for schools, vocational programs, employers, and the young individuals they work with. Founder Rachel Angel, who worked her way through high school and college, saw a need for such a pathway. She talks with CincyTech CEO Mike Venerable about the growth of Peerro, and how today's education system can improve the way it prepare students for the future of work.
