This is slightly besides the point but somehow I think blackmail is less prevalent when applied to the guilty than it is to the innocent. When Steve and Maria were blackmailed by their guilt complexes into assuming they had serious cases of mental illness, they had taken on identities that they couldn’t call totally their own.
