1:56

at five specific wide

1:59

receivers. which is probably not going

2:01

to be on the board for the bill. But

2:04

two specific college football

2:06

programs that have

2:09

top of the draft wide receiver

2:11

talent that is available. Yesterday on the show,

2:13

we looked at what positions I would generally

2:15

perceive to be not options for Miami early

2:17

in the draft. And if you start a

2:20

quarterback and work your way down the list, the

2:22

first position that was there, that

2:24

made the cut was

2:26

wide receiver. So I've been

2:28

starting my heavy scouting process, putting together

2:31

my draft board for the Dolphins. And

2:33

these two college football programs were the first

2:36

place that I started because

2:38

of the amount of volume of wide

2:40

receivers that they had. And that's University

2:42

of Washington and University of Texas. When you

2:44

include tight ends, each one of these programs

2:46

has three pass catchers that could feasibly be

2:48

top 100 picks in

2:51

the 2020 400 felt draft. So really

2:53

impressive volume for both of

2:55

those programs. Of course, they played each other

2:57

in the college football playoff semi-final this year,

3:00

played a really entertaining game that went down

3:02

the last play of the game. So

3:05

lots of opportunities to get cross-pollination with these players

3:07

against each other as well. Last

3:10

season, when we went hot and heavy on draft,

3:12

I did a bunch of player

3:14

specific dives. I'm gonna try my

3:16

best to bunch players

3:18

together into shows with

3:21

similar buckets and similar themes like this, with

3:23

the hoping that we can cover more ground. So

3:27

we're starting with wide receivers today. And

3:30

the University of Washington, the

3:32

first thing you have to do is you have to establish the talent

3:35

and where these players are projected to go

3:38

in the NFL draft. Roma Dunze

3:41

from Washington is the best player of

3:44

any of the talents available at wide

3:46

receiver from either the University of Washington

3:49

or the University of Texas. He is generally

3:51

perceived to be a top 10 pick. And

3:54

I would not be surprised. He's got a really

3:56

nice blend of just about everything. We'll

3:58

talk about him briefly. segment two not

4:00

too much time because that's a player where

4:03

you'd have to have something catastrophic with

4:05

his draft stock between now and The

4:07

end of April for him to be an option

4:09

for the Dolphins and I don't think trade-up is really

4:11

a feasible Pathway

4:16

From Miami to acquire specifically a wide receiver with

4:18

the other means that this team has and the

4:20

limited resources They already have it from a draft

4:22

capital standpoint the next

4:24

predictive wide receiver to be drafted

4:27

I Say the next best

4:29

player to be a day one option is Texas's

4:32

AD Mitchell a

4:34

donut I Mitchell originally went to University

4:36

of Georgia transferred to Texas

4:39

had a monster season this year and

4:41

then came out and had a monster

4:43

NFL combine where he ran a 434

4:47

And he's probably somebody when you look

4:49

at how the draft shakes out this

4:51

year You'll

4:54

have the three wide receivers that go early in

4:59

Adunze Malik neighbors

5:01

from LSU and Marvin Harrison jr.

5:03

From Ohio State Then

5:06

you have Brian Thomas who's not a part of

5:08

this conversation will include him in another conversation that

5:11

we'll get to a little later in the pre

5:13

draft process, but Thomas

5:16

is kind of the bridge between tier one and

5:19

tier two you could see him falling closer

5:21

to tier one predictably in the teens or

5:24

you could see him falling into Potentially

5:26

the 20s and being a part of the grouping

5:28

of players that Miami would be in consideration. I

5:31

would say after Thomas

5:33

who's kind of the consensus wide receiver for

5:35

Mitchell has an argument to be wide receiver

5:37

five and there's a ton of teams

5:39

whether it's Detroit or Buffalo or

5:41

Miami or Kansas City

5:45

Potentially Baltimore I'm

5:48

sure I'm forgetting at least Arizona if they pass on

5:50

wide receiver early if they trade out and then draft

5:52

something else They have they

5:55

have Cleveland's pick or Houston's pick They

5:57

have a pick in the 20s already

6:02

and a potential trade out candidate for a team like

6:04

Minnesota to come up and get a quarterback at four.

6:07

So there's a slew

6:09

of teams that need wide receivers and I expect

6:11

a secondary run on the position to go in

6:13

the twenties. It's a question of whether or

6:15

not Miami is going to be a part of that. A.D.

6:18

Mitchell expected to be a

6:20

part of that conversation. I

6:22

think the only other pass catcher that

6:24

has a chance to be a first round

6:27

player and it's because of a record setting

6:29

performance at the NFL Combine

6:31

is Xavier Ward, worthy, the

6:34

number two, if you will, at

6:36

the University of Texas. Very

6:39

different player than Mitchell from a build

6:41

perspective. I think his strengths are very

6:43

different than A.D. Mitchell's. There's a fascinating

6:45

contrast in how those two skillsets played

6:47

off each other at Texas within that

6:49

offense. Um, but

6:53

more of a diminutive player, 511, 165. Sounds

6:57

ran a four to one just

7:00

crazy fast, 40 yard

7:02

dash and the explosiveness. It's,

7:04

it's, it's so evident when you watch

7:06

him on film, we'll talk about him

7:08

a little bit as well, I will probably

7:11

bunch him into the round one options because

7:13

I certainly don't think he'd be there at 55 for Miami. Uh,

7:17

after that you have two

7:19

more Washington wide receivers, Jalen

7:22

McMillan and then Jalen

7:24

Polk, uh, that Washington offense

7:27

had athleticism out the

7:29

wazoo in the scale group this year. They

7:31

had a tight end number 37 who popped

7:33

to me as well. And then they had

7:35

a Michigan state transfer, uh, who's not

7:38

in this year's draft class number four, who

7:40

they used quite a bit. Uh, so, so that

7:42

Washington offense is going to have some, some players

7:44

and follow-up years for draft classes as well that

7:46

are giving names to know. Jalen

7:49

McMillan and Jalen Polk are, are

7:51

definitive day two options, uh,

7:53

out of that Washington offense as well. And

7:55

then, uh, kind of a hybrid. We've, we've

7:57

mentioned this name already, uh, this week on

7:59

the. program, Chatevian Sanders, a tight end

8:01

from Texas, detached

8:04

from the set often, not

8:06

a lot of success as an inline player, a

8:09

lot of correlation with how Miami has used

8:11

tight ends, although I do think it's a

8:13

redundant player relative to John Smith and

8:15

his addition to the depth chart with how Miami

8:17

has valued tight end thus far in

8:20

the Mike McDaniel regime. So

8:22

you technically have three pass catchers from

8:24

both Washington and Texas, which gives us

8:27

plenty of ground to cover or

8:29

start with that first

8:32

tier, briefly touch on a dune's

8:34

day, just to do our due diligence. And then

8:36

we'll get into A.B. Mitchell and Xavier Worthy next

8:38

year on this episode of Lock on Dolphins. So

9:50

Washington didn't cut down any

9:52

proverbial nets, but they Got close.

9:54

They Played in the national championship game against

9:56

Michigan and Michigan's another team that has multiple

9:58

pass catchers to know. And

10:00

between Cornelius Johnson and Roman Wilson

10:03

so of. Law. Suit lots of

10:05

names to be familiar with, that's what this

10:07

time of year the next month you're on.

10:09

This programs can be all about and are

10:11

like a pagan slot right? Because I got

10:13

my son my career in football started as

10:15

a draft Nick. And then kind

10:17

of skew team specific after I started

10:20

draft specific. But the dolphins were the

10:22

thing that push me into being a

10:24

draft nick because of the law that

10:26

dreaded. Fifteen. Year stretch

10:28

from about. O

10:31

Two to sixteen. As

10:34

a lot a miserable seasons

10:36

starting in about. Late.

10:38

October, early November when you start watching college

10:40

football games. Looking for that named it's Gonna

10:42

Pop is illegal. that's god's can say, the

10:44

Dolphins and it's never really happened. Ah

10:47

ah, I owe a lot of

10:49

my draft passion to the dolphins.

10:51

So so, we've come full circle

10:53

here, so let let's touch briefly.

10:56

On. Aroma Dunes a offered universe. You

10:58

Washington who is six with three two

11:00

hundred twelve pounds ran a four, four,

11:02

five forty yard- Very explosive

11:04

player in all facets. Thirty nine inch

11:06

vertical jump. Ah rin. Well with the

11:08

shuttles. Not a lot of wide receivers

11:10

run the shovels. At the Nfl Combine

11:12

he ran a six, eight, eight sub

11:15

seven seconds. recon. Drill says seven seconds.

11:17

Count that magic number for wide receivers.

11:19

If you're going to run it, you

11:21

better run sub seven seconds. And

11:24

then a four point o three second

11:26

short shuttle which is starting in the

11:28

midline. Five. Yards to one

11:30

direction. Back. Across the midline

11:32

hundred a degree pivot. Ah,

11:36

Across the midline, another five yards

11:38

The always you start. Zero. Five.

11:41

Ten. Back the other way is

11:43

fifteen. Five. Back to the

11:45

midline for twenty yard sure Shuttle a

11:47

four point o three second which is

11:49

ninety first percentile. Said. Of all

11:51

wide receiver comes within a four combine. Since

11:53

the year. Two. Thousand and One

11:56

and he spent a lot of time.

11:58

I. Believe I remember. Do they. Stayed

12:02

on the field at the Combine. Running

12:05

the shore shuttle repeatedly trying to

12:07

break four seconds, And

12:09

he had like already had like the best time. But.

12:11

He wanted to run. So four seconds. So.

12:14

Really need like. Competitiveness.

12:17

For him with himself. At.

12:19

The com I. Probably

12:22

going to be a top ten selection. There's.

12:24

Teams whether it's Tennessee even

12:27

though they they spent on.

12:30

Calvin Ridley. Ah, Chicago

12:33

potentially at nine as the third

12:35

wide receiver to go with Keenan

12:37

Allen who they just drafted or

12:39

the general expectation is a doomsday

12:41

is going to go. With.

12:44

It at least fry the first twelve picks.

12:47

If. He gets past that point. It would be

12:49

something of a surprise because he's a very complete.

12:52

Athletic. Profile. And.

12:54

That Washington or sense. It's.

12:57

Kind of a nice teaser for who we

12:59

get. The deal of a million in Jalan

13:01

Polk is the complimentary players within the passing

13:03

often. Lot of verticals, lot of for verts,

13:05

lot a deep crossers, lot of the posts.

13:07

I love to attack the deeper portions of

13:09

the field. And. Panics. The one

13:12

area where Panics is was on point all

13:14

season long was throwing dying down the field.

13:16

And. A dunes is got really

13:19

good ball tracking skills, but they also had

13:21

some scheme throws where they would scheme perimeter

13:23

throws to a doomsday and let him get

13:25

the the ball. His hands quickly and he

13:28

had some size and some fluidity to it's

13:30

the blend of everything that makes him a

13:32

complete player. Which. Will offer something

13:34

for just about every offensive scheme. The Leak:

13:37

Regardless, Of whether or not you're

13:39

going to run on and erhard

13:41

perkins vertical passing attack. Ah,

13:43

Where where you're looking to really shoot the ball down

13:45

the field or for you to run a timing based

13:47

office. He's. Got the size to play

13:50

through. Press it though. At the line of scrimmage.

13:52

he's got the fluidity and the body control to

13:54

reduce his surface. Oh, he's not giving a big

13:56

chunks of himself. read of really Gym at the

13:58

line of scrimmage. You to break

14:00

off his routes very well. he's not very

14:03

good ball skills Wrong hands, very complete blank.

14:05

Naka. The blaze, the dolphins ring. Completely honest.

14:08

So now that we. Check. That

14:10

box and move on I thought

14:12

Texas and eighty. Mitchell. I

14:14

think the thing that that. Stood. Out seen

14:17

a most about Steve Sarkisian softens. Was.

14:19

A lot of parallels we we've mentioned it

14:21

would you taming Sanders but. In. General.

14:24

I thought there was a lot of parallels. To.

14:27

Help Texas ran authors to certain

14:29

elements of How Miami play office

14:32

to make sense that might Mcdaniels

14:34

there and Chris Greer is was

14:36

Chris Grew their Frank Smith was

14:39

there. Ah, I'm. Did.

14:41

They had a whole slew at the taxes they

14:44

they had. The full conglomerate was there at the

14:46

Texas Protein. Which. Makes all the sense of

14:48

the world because you get to speak. I likely be worthy. He.

14:51

Got a D Mitchell who's a little bit of a

14:53

different body type the once you have. An.

14:55

Entertaining Sanders and there's this overlap with

14:57

a lot of the ideological things that

15:00

Miami likes to do. Makes.

15:02

A lot of sense. Eighty

15:05

Mitchell's six foot two and a quarter. Two

15:08

hundred five pounds. Ran

15:11

a four three, four forty yard-which

15:13

is flying. Had thirty

15:15

nine and a half inch vertical which

15:17

is eighty ninth percentile for wide receiver.

15:20

since two thousand and one the Nfl

15:22

Combine an aig. Oh lordy him. Do

15:24

math. Eleven foot four inch standing, brought

15:27

up one hundred thirty six inches. That's

15:31

ninety eighth percentile for wife's you were

15:33

said to. Doesn't want the a little

15:35

caught by so explosiveness. Linear

15:37

explosiveness through the nine that six

15:40

foot, two, two hundred five pounds.

15:43

Or there's some players courtesy of mock draft.

15:45

Of all that stand out as far as

15:47

athletic comparables that I figure good names to

15:50

know I think the most successful players Dj

15:52

Char. And. Dj charge at

15:54

his peak. I. Was a

15:56

player who won. Vertically. Down

15:58

the field in the Nfl. And. I

16:01

think that's where odd. Mitchell's

16:03

bread and Butter will be.

16:05

I do think there are

16:07

flashes. Of. Really dynamic

16:09

change of direction skills. One of

16:12

the questions for Mitchell is the

16:14

consistency of performance. Ah, The

16:16

motor felt like it rain a little hot and

16:18

cold or there were moments where the switch was

16:20

flipped it and if he early the burrow russian

16:22

you could see the intensity the Ralph's. Was.

16:25

A lot more notable, a lot

16:28

more significant. Is. That the

16:30

kind of player that you wanna. Invest.

16:33

The Top twenty five draft selection and if

16:35

you the dolphins I have the answer. I.

16:37

Know he can track the ball well down

16:40

the field. He was not particularly consistent in

16:42

contest the cat situations dealt. With

16:44

the interesting thing about him. I.

16:47

Know some people want to compare him as

16:49

a more specific, better route running version of

16:51

George Pickens when it up going the thorough.

16:54

Pickens's had some big time flashes really splashed at

16:56

the end of the your last year for Pittsburgh

16:58

wants me to Love came in and they just

17:00

said love weren't three the ball downfield. Go with.

17:03

Higgins. Is a much better contested ball player

17:05

than eighty. Mitchell is. No And. Mitchell

17:07

I think can be a better route runner these

17:09

more fluid. And. I think he's got.

17:13

The. He certainly has better speed and and

17:15

linear explosiveness. So. You're

17:17

at this kind of weird intersection where

17:19

you see the flashes with Mitchell. They

17:21

didn't really use him a lot over

17:24

the middle. It. Was a lot of

17:26

vertical stuff down the field. Ah, There

17:28

were some some return Ralph there was

17:30

hooks stuff on the perimeter outside the

17:32

numbers. he don't really move around the

17:34

the same degree. The zebra worthy. Suffer.

17:38

Mitchell's perspective. Ah the I think

17:41

this is a player that frees

17:43

you up. To. Utilize

17:45

either jail a model or

17:48

Tyree kill more freely with

17:50

more consistency while maintaining a

17:52

vertical elements. But

17:54

maybe doesn't bring the same

17:57

versatility. Ah, And

17:59

the intensity. There's a Blocker was initially where

18:01

you hoped it would be for a big

18:03

body player with consistency. The. Other thing

18:05

that stood out about eighty Mitchell died

18:07

I think made him a questionable fit

18:10

for Miami was the run after cats

18:12

element of his game was not particularly

18:14

impressive. I. Thought there were too

18:16

many instances where he would catch the ball.

18:18

he will get his eyes of field. He

18:20

would take what was immediately available and selectively

18:22

like avoid contact or go down or get

18:24

out about. And. This

18:27

is when you're getting out worked for

18:29

yards after the catch by Exhibit Worthy.

18:32

Who. Weighs Fifty pound. The forty pounds less than

18:34

you. That's. Hard to ignore on it. And.

18:38

As such, as a metal can't be a

18:40

good player. I just think his pathway to

18:42

success. As. An Nfl player. There's.

18:44

A specific role for how that's

18:47

going to come. And. The question

18:49

is do I think that's a significant

18:51

overlap? With. The Miami Dolphins and how

18:53

they want to play all sense. He

18:56

is not something that I think as an open

18:58

and shut case. Will.

21:15

21:23

mirrored elements. To.

21:25

How my Me Daniel as usual. a while.

21:28

And. Tyree Kill. And. That's where.

21:31

Is the dolphins priority and progress to add

21:33

something different to the wide receiver room? A.

21:35

View can make the argument that eighty

21:37

Mitchell would be a better selection or

21:39

Brian Thomas from Alice you board and

21:41

we're not talking about in the seat

21:43

type will be an option that is

21:46

attractive to them, but if they're looking

21:48

to have more layers. Of. What

21:50

they've been. Worthy.

21:53

I think is A.that that. Sorry.

21:56

Of is. Worthy. action

21:58

with the that often Is

22:01

he a worthy option in 21? I

22:03

don't think so. I think the scenarios in

22:05

which you would be acquiring Xavier Worthy would

22:08

probably be predicated on having an abundance of

22:10

options at 21, trading down

22:12

out of that pick if you had the opportunity to

22:15

do so, letting the board

22:17

come to you as you move down and then

22:19

potentially him being the best player available if you

22:21

move into the late first round or if you

22:23

move into the early second round altogether to really

22:25

stop stuck up on top 100 picks. If

22:28

that's the pathway, that's where I see

22:31

Worthy being a good value selection for

22:33

the dolphins. You can make the

22:35

argument, well if he's your guy, just take him to 21. I get

22:38

that. That's a really slippery slope. I'd love to

22:40

maximize the value of every single selection, especially when

22:42

you have limited assets this year. They

22:45

put him in the backfield. They put him in motion.

22:48

They run perimeter screens with him. They

22:51

put him in the backfield and he runs flats.

22:53

Remember that touchdown, the Tyree Kill caught against

22:55

the Jets, the first touchdown. He

23:00

got matched up on a linebacker or safety and it

23:02

was just way too easy. They ran some kind of

23:04

rub on the perimeter and this player

23:07

from depth in the low red zone has to

23:09

run with Tyree Kill. The Texas

23:12

Longhorns did that with Xavier Worthy on a third and

23:14

sixth. Worthy caught the ball out of

23:16

the backfield. There was a rub. Guy had to come

23:19

from depth, play over top, attempted to tackle him at

23:21

the sticks, two yards short of the

23:23

line to gain. Worthy lowers his shoulder

23:25

so against Alabama, takes the

23:28

hit on, spins back inbounds, goes up,

23:30

gets the first down. At 165 pounds.

23:33

Wraps like that are hard to miss. They're

23:36

fun. They take him

23:38

outside. They motion him in. They'll

23:40

hit him with a perimeter screen. They'll get

23:42

offensive linemen that release out in front of

23:44

them. Jatavian Sanders is usually involved in a

23:46

lot of those as well. They've run jet

23:48

motion with him, end the rounds with him

23:50

like they do with Jalen Waddle. They did

23:53

it with Jalen Waddle probably five times last

23:55

year. Never really popped a big one. Texas

23:57

was really close to popping a big one. It

23:59

was... Sanders

24:01

was out in front versus a corner and

24:04

worthy was on the end around and he could go

24:06

inside or outside and he put his foot in the

24:08

ground to go inside. But Sanders hadn't attached it on

24:10

the corner yet, so the corner makes the tackle for

24:12

like a six-yard gain, could have been like a six-yard

24:14

touchdown. There's like a lot of overlap. And

24:18

that's where I consider how

24:20

Miami has approached this offseason thus

24:22

far when they seem

24:24

to want to continue to invest in

24:26

what they've been invested in and get better at it and

24:28

have more options with it and have more depth with it.

24:31

And that

24:34

feels like Xavier Worthy. I

24:37

think of all the players that we're going to talk about

24:39

here, Xavier Worthy is the best fit

24:42

with what the Dolphins' offense is. I

24:45

just don't think it's an appropriate value at 21. And

24:47

the reason why, I think size and stature

24:49

is a notable concern. I

24:51

also don't think Xavier Worthy is as fluid

24:55

as either – or is as fluid

24:57

as Jalen Waddle. I don't

24:59

think he's short area as sudden

25:02

as Tyreek Hill. I think he's a

25:04

little bit more of a strider. You know, he's over 5'11 and

25:06

165 pounds. So

25:10

this is not like 5'9", 165 where you're like condensed.

25:14

He's a little bit longer. And

25:16

as a result of being a little bit more of

25:19

a strider, I don't think he

25:21

has the same short area shake. I think he's a

25:23

little bit more of a linear,

25:25

plain player. I don't think it's a

25:27

coincidence that he didn't do his

25:29

shuttles because I don't think his shuttles would have

25:31

been where his speed testing was

25:33

or his explosiveness testing for his jumps. He

25:36

was 99th percentile in 40 yard dash.

25:38

He was 93rd percentile in 10 yard

25:40

split. He was 95th percentile in vertical

25:42

jump, 41 inches. He was 92nd percentile

25:44

in broad jump, which was 10'11". So

25:48

like really, really good numbers. But

25:50

he was 9th percentile in hand size. His hand size

25:52

is 8 3 quarters inches. His

25:55

first percentile in weight for wide receivers, 165

25:57

pounds. Here's

25:59

why. Wingspan was 74 and a

26:01

quarter inches. That's 26% off our all-water

26:03

receiver since 2001 and that shows up

26:05

when there's throws away from his frame

26:09

He doesn't have a great catch radius and he

26:11

doesn't have a great level of consistency catching the

26:13

ball away from his frame and You

26:16

know there were some instances where he's

26:18

running slants and Quinn or Evers is

26:20

throwing hospital Yolo balls High

26:23

three yards high above his head and he's got to

26:25

go up and catch it But he knows somebody's gonna

26:27

sit there and stick in his ribs when he comes

26:29

back down with the ball and he doesn't finish those

26:31

Plays he's got to go down low to dig out

26:33

throws when Ubers is trying to throw on the move

26:35

They can't quite complete those opportunities as well so

26:38

I I know some of

26:40

the criticisms for Jayla waddle is Some

26:42

of the drops and he's trying to catch the ball against

26:45

his chest or Tyree kill These high

26:47

degree of difficulty away from frame at full speed

26:49

catches that you're trying to make as a 30

26:51

million dollar per year Wide receiver and I hear

26:53

those and if you got problems with him with

26:55

Jayla waddle and Tyree kill I promise you you're

26:57

gonna have the same issues with the first round

27:00

picking Xavier Worthy because they're gonna show up on

27:02

the film So

27:04

that's some of the concern with Xavier

27:06

Worthy But I

27:08

I also think the

27:10

Robbie chosen Theory

27:14

is probably more successful with

27:16

a player like Xavier Worthy I

27:19

think Xavier Worthy is really good in the vertical

27:21

plane. I do think he can move around I

27:23

do think you can scheme some touches for him

27:25

He's gonna break angles like nobody's business be a

27:27

big-time run after catch guy if you get him

27:29

in space With the other speed options

27:31

that Miami has that should not be difficult to find

27:33

opportunities to get him in space but

27:37

the theory of him being an outside player in the

27:39

same way that ad Mitchell is and Having

27:42

vertical lift and freeing up Tyree kill in jail and

27:44

waddle But also

27:46

having some more versatility than I think ad Mitchell

27:48

brings you is

27:51

notable And

27:53

when you want to go 11 personnel the question is it

27:56

often want to be more valuable when they go with 12

27:58

personnel with two tight ends They're

28:00

gonna complement Johnny Smith whether it's Durham Smith or

28:02

not other passing situation somebody else or do you

28:04

want to be more successful in your 11

28:07

personnel and what's the recipe look like to get you there?

28:12

Jalen McMillan and Jollin Paul Jalen

28:15

McMillan six foot one two hundred pounds ran

28:18

a four four seven Really

28:20

good broad jump good

28:23

tester across the board big hands Wins

28:26

down the field. I think the

28:28

number one athletic comparable for him is a really

28:30

good description for who this player is That's Jalen

28:32

Tolbert who was drafted by the Cowboys in 2022

28:35

Romeo dubs or Dobbs, you know how it's

28:38

been pronounced has changed three times. So apologies

28:40

if it's not Dobbs I think it's pronounced

28:42

Dobbs now With agreement Bay

28:44

Packers is another name from that 2022 draft class.

28:46

Those are two very high level

28:48

athletic profile comparisons For

28:51

Jalen McMillan and they were

28:53

both, you know mid-round draft picks I think

28:55

that's appropriate for McMillan would not be surprised

28:57

if he goes in round three Because

29:01

he can run well, you know, I ran a

29:03

sub four five forty-yard dash and

29:06

he's really smooth That's the thing about him

29:08

is he's silky smooth. He's not overly Imposing

29:11

as a player. He's not particularly

29:13

hot tall. He's not particularly heavy.

29:15

He's not particularly long. He's

29:18

not particularly fast But

29:20

I don't think it's coincidence that his best

29:22

testing You know sub seven second three cone

29:24

drill and a really good short shuttle as

29:27

well So the smoothness for

29:29

him from Washington stands out and he's

29:31

got probably just as good of hands

29:33

as Roma dunes a does That

29:36

was the thing that stood out to me with him Whereas

29:39

Jalen Polk the other

29:41

wide receiver six foot 200 pounds

29:43

45 to a

29:47

little bit more of a Dynamic

29:50

route runner than millen McMillan is

29:54

But I think has some more questions was

29:56

especially disappointing to find out that he was

29:58

six one and a half Pounds.

30:01

And had some of the blocking read that he did.

30:03

I think Macmillan the little bit more a dirty work

30:05

type player vs. pokes a little bit more of a

30:07

just a pass catcher. Ah, So

30:09

if you're looking for a divide between

30:11

those two Washington players, I would like

30:13

Macmillan more than poked his because I,

30:15

I think. If. Miami's looking

30:18

for. I wouldn't

30:20

say River Craig Crafter Braxton Bears because

30:22

the body types are very different. But.

30:25

If you're looking for a

30:27

trench your field with more

30:29

upside type player I guess.

30:32

A. Big Million would probably be the name

30:34

that I would lean into because he

30:36

does a lot of that. Blocking.

30:40

He does a lot more

30:42

of movements. Within. The office

30:45

would washington would go to move players

30:47

around use a little bit more involved

30:49

in that aspect of it than Polk

30:51

was. Were. Polk they did, you know,

30:53

try to get a spot where there was a

30:55

condensed split when they would go condense formations or

30:57

whether it's out on the perimeter and that they'd

30:59

run a lot of schemes rose to the printers.

31:01

Are with a date, Go Vertical shuts down the

31:03

field and then if they had free access, the

31:06

go outside release of an out route or they

31:08

do a bubble. War. With two

31:10

guys are stop walking on the perimeter

31:12

and parking. On almost all those instances

31:14

when he wasn't getting the ball and

31:16

I thought he ran really dynamic routes

31:18

down the field. Or. He

31:20

wasn't getting the ball. I. Thought he

31:22

struggled to to be an asset within the

31:24

office. Where I think being Millan. I.

31:27

Was the other way around? I

31:29

think maybe he didn't have as

31:31

much created separation. But. I

31:33

thought he was somebody who was a more

31:35

reliable all around player. So.

31:38

If I had to rank them in order

31:41

for Miami. I. Would

31:43

rank them. Roma.

31:45

Dunes A. Rank. The

31:47

the Stratosphere that will be in conversation from Miami.

31:50

I. Would put zebra where the is the next best

31:52

option for Miami. And then I

31:54

would have a D. Mitchell. i

31:56

would have then jail and macmillan and and jalan

31:58

polk would be how I would order those players

32:00

as far as expectations for

32:02

where you would draft that player

32:05

for Miami I would say Adunze

32:08

would be a trade-up scenario not really in play for

32:10

the Dolphins But it's worth acknowledging him for as good

32:12

as he is and since we're talking about his program

32:14

here today on the show Xavier

32:17

worthy is probably a trade-down option

32:19

ideally Same

32:21

would have to go for ad Mitchell. I don't think anyone

32:23

of those players I

32:26

think Mitchell predictively Goes

32:29

in the first round Whereas

32:31

worthies, I think probably more of a top

32:33

40 type player The

32:35

challenge is gonna be you know Realistically anticipating the

32:37

board and how it's gonna break and is that

32:39

the direction that you really want to go Because

32:44

there's probably gonna be other players at other spots

32:46

that are gonna be better players

32:49

and more impactful opportunity players for

32:51

Miami then what Xavier worthy would

32:53

bring so For

32:56

me both of those Texas

32:58

wide receivers would be trade-down candidates

33:00

ideally and Then

33:02

Jalen McMillan I would probably target on on day

33:05

two but not at 55 That

33:07

would have to be kind of manufacturing a

33:09

later pick somehow along the way and

33:12

then Jallin Polk for me would probably be a day

33:14

three option That's

33:17

gonna do it for us here on this episode of walk
