Written and directed by women AND starring women?! HELL YES! 🔥😈✨✨
Screenwriter, Diablo Cody and Director, Karyn Kusama's "Jennifer's Body" was marketed to the wrong audience upon its release, targeting young, hormonal boys instead of the film's intended audience: girls and women, which this film should have empowered 🚺💪🏽👯♀️
Fast forward to 2021 and Jen's Bod has reached its intended audience and more, becoming a "cult classic" with horror fans everywhere. Its not-so-subtle feminist message of female empowerment, by defeating the male gaze and owning our sexuality, has become more relevant than ever in the post-#MeToo years 🚺
Yeah, I guess Jennifer is technically a literal maneater and "evil" but isn't every bad b*tch evil... even just a little bit? 🤷🏻♀️💋💄👹
Listen to find out what Cody, Kusama, and other film scholars have said about this unique entry in the horror-comedy genre 🎥🎧💀
