- Season 2, Episode 15 -

🗣In this episode, Alfatih Hamad will talk to us about the way he and his family have fully integrated Islam in their busy lives. Alfatih is a Sudanese Citizen 🇸🇩born and raised in Sudan.

🎓After graduating from college in Darfour and Bordeaux, France, Alfatih moved to Paris, where he integrated UNESCO Headquarters, and then relocated to New York City to become a Deputy Director in the UNESCO Liaison Office in the City that never sleeps. All along, he continued to profess his love for Allah with his wife and their beautiful children, and also never seized to honor diversity and cultural differences.

👨🏽‍💼I met Alfatih in 2001 when I first entered UNESCO as a junior staff. He was my boss, back then and taught me so much about the UN System, but above all, Alfatih and I quickly became friends and learned from each other, while speaking French in the heart of Manhattan and laughing about our daily lives.

🙎🏾‍♀️👨🏽‍💼👨🏽‍💼👨🏽‍💼👨🏽‍💼Alfatih has raised his children as good young US Muslim men and women. In this episode, he  describes the world “Islam” for us all, he explains the meaning and the use of the Quran, he shares why it is important to visit the Mecca at least once in a lifetime, and he describes how one can remain a good Muslim throughout their lives.

🛐As it is true that religions can sometimes feel empowering as they provide peace and comfort to people, they can also create anxiety and lead to judgements among believers. When asked how he deals with the potential struggle, Alfatih replies that religions are there to teach love and respect for others, but they can unfortunately be misused by driven spirits who tend to use religions for their own agenda.

🥰Thank you so much, Alfatih! I really appreciate your willingness to share your thoughts with us all, today. I wish you and your family all the happiness for the future!
