Sunday mornings are reserved for church, but Saturday morning? That's an all together different kind of ritual. It's probably different for each one of us, and it's certainly less enjoyable for some than others, but one thing we can agree on is the satisfaction we get from looking at the perfectly trimmed grass that frames our humble residence. While some call it a chore and others call it a labor of love, we dutifully make pass after pass getting the lines just right before moving to the next part. We all have our different ways of bringing our yard to the pinnacle of perfection, and we pass that knowledge down from generation to generation, each person improving on the last, at least in their own eyes. But why? Why do we take the time to mow our grass and why do we take such pride in the job and treat it with such pomp? Is it for ourselves? Our neighbors? The HOA?
