Ever wondered why demographics matter so much? It's really easy to get stuck in the rutt thinking: "I have this really cool product and I know people are struggling with it so I just got to create it and I'll be a millionaire".
Unfortunately for us that sell them the case off and of times if we only go on the top of our head thinking wow this is awesome and people need it what typically ends up happening is crickets.
I know because I used to struggle with it I had a drop-shipping store that I built. Beautiful stuff I got a ton of offers for advertising on the site, but unfortunately I hadn't researched my audience right.
So often the stuff that I was selling it would convert a lot less than I thought it would…
I hadn't yet deciphered their language I hadn't yet figured out what made them buy and why. I hadn't exactly taken the time to talk to them in person, so what first I would get almost no conversions at all, which was also the case for the story that I'm telling in the video. So what ended up happening was that I started buying course after course after course to try to figure out why people weren't buying more from my store and it hit me like a ton of bricks, I had been selling them my idea not their needs.
I got so focused on these awesome products and finding the best suppliers that I forgot to ask the simple question what do you need and why do you need it There's a ton of places where you can get a lot of data, like Reddit and you can host in the right subreddit to find out what people need.
What often ends up happening is not only do you get the data that you need, but you also create sort of like a buzz for what it is you do and often that means that you not only front-loaded the work, but you've also gotten people excited meaning you might get sales even before you start running advertisement campaigns.
So with that said I hope you're going to enjoy the video and as always stay awesome, allow yourself to suck and keep rocking it.
