0:55
I'm Eric Sue and I'm Neil Patel, and
0:57
today we are going to talk about what Google
0:59
my Business is exactly. So
1:02
basically, Google my Business allows you to
1:04
get your free business listing on Google.
1:06
So think about you know this is going
1:08
to help you organize kind of your local listings. If
1:10
you have different brick and mortar locations
1:13
you can claim in business. You can verify it, but
1:15
it's basically the start of getting you know, things
1:18
going for visibility and Google Maps and Google
1:20
Search basically local. Right, So you
1:23
know, Neil, have you done anything around Google
1:26
my Business? I have. So
1:28
if you live in Seattle and you type in like,
1:31
I'm kind of a big deal in Neil Hotel. I've
1:33
even claimed building already. I even
1:35
changed my hours to be open twenty
1:37
four hours a day, no holidays.
1:40
You know has my phone number and everything like that.
1:42
But it's kind of interesting because I claimed,
1:45
you know, I also live in a hotel there, so I claim
1:48
my condo unit. And the funny part about
1:50
that is when people search for the hotel in Seattle,
1:53
it also shows my information. But
1:56
yeah, it works quite well. The
1:58
thing with Google Locals or Google My Business,
2:00
whatever you want to up calling it
2:03
is you can have multiple spots.
2:05
If you have multiple locations,
2:08
A lot of people forget that, Oh I can only
2:10
have one spot. No that's not the case. If you have ten
2:12
different locations, you can have an
2:14
address for ten different locations,
2:16
and by doing this you'll continually
2:19
generate more and more business
2:21
from it. But just claiming your listing isn't
2:24
enough. You need to get the reviews going.
2:26
So the more reviews you get, if you have
2:28
five stars, you're going to do way better than if
2:30
you had no reviews or if you had
2:33
three stars. That is a huge important
2:35
point that most people forget. It's
2:37
not just about claiming or listening. You
2:39
need to be descriptive, explain what you do,
2:42
and have a ton of positive reviews.
2:44
Yeah, and there's a ton of tools out there. You know. It's
2:47
about the reviews. You know, you can call them citations.
2:50
It's about having the right you have to have
2:52
consistency in terms of your your kind of
2:54
you know, name, address, and phone number as well.
2:57
There's a whole host of factors that we can go on about,
2:59
but these podcast are short, So I do recommend
3:01
checking out local search ranking
3:03
factors, and there's a lot of you know, annual
3:06
guides talking about Okay, these are the most
3:08
most important factors. But guess
3:10
what, you know, reviews play into it. We're
3:12
still talking SEO here, right. Links still matter
3:15
in this case too, and you
3:17
know that's how you're gonna push yourself up. What I can
3:19
say is I can share a story. There's a New
3:21
York Times piece that I recommend Google link this as
3:23
well about locksmiths, right,
3:26
so I think this is an Israeli based company
3:28
and they just claimed a bunch of listings in the United
3:30
States. They're not really based here, but
3:32
you know, they just have a bunch of listings for locksmiths and they
3:34
just kind of owned the whole thing. I from what
3:36
I heard. You know, their revenues went from you
3:39
know, a couple of million and all the way up to eighty
3:41
one million or something like that, you
3:43
know, utilizing Google my business. So
3:46
just FYI, you know you don't want to abuse it like
3:48
this, but just saying, you know, the possibilities
3:50
are are good, so you should
3:52
be looking at it if you do have you know, I
3:55
mean, look at what Neil's doing, right, I mean he's he's
3:57
putting his presence everywhere, right, and we're we're
3:59
actually doing the same thing. You know. We
4:01
we might claim like multiple you know, you
4:03
know, we might be in different rework locations, right
4:05
and we actually do work there sometimes, so we'll claim
4:08
those locations too. So
4:10
just you know, keep that in mind and you
4:12
know, test it out for yourself. Yeah, have fun
4:14
with local listings again, don't abuse it.
4:16
And that company who went from whatever
4:19
a few million to eighty million or what other numbers.
4:22
I bet you a lot of the listings will
4:24
get removed now because they went to public with
4:26
it, or if someone went public with it. Yeah
4:28
true, So yeah, don't abuse
4:30
it. Just you know, do it where it's it
4:32
actually makes sense and you should
4:35
be okay, and hopefully you The good thing
4:37
about Google my business too, is that you can go in and check your
4:39
analytics to see, you know, if your
4:41
search impressions are going up and people are clicking on
4:43
your listing or not. So it's just, you know,
4:46
Google's getting a little better at carrying
4:48
more about local businesses and that's that's good for
4:50
everyone here. So that's it for today
4:53
