Nicole Ward has been a Special education teacher for 17 years with special interest in neurodivergent students. SpEd consultant for families trying to navigate the IEP game for their children for 12 years through Moore Autism Center. She is a Domestic abuse survivor and sexual assault survivor. She was assaulted in the military by a commanding officer, in which the military covered up and paid for her discharge in a lifetime of disability, instead of holding the abuser accountable . Her psychological, emotional, verbal, financial, and legal abuse started after filing for divorce at 7 months pregnant lasted 12 years. Both of her abusers are still walking free to this day . Her story is heartbreaking devastating , but also a story of strength, empowerment and overcoming determination and the will to never give up and that you are your child's biggest, biggest advocate. In this episode we will be Upacking & exposing the family court system and what is hindering survivors in protecting their children, such as judges that are paid and endorsed by a system, with immunity to ignore Victims and enable users. Nicole and maralen realized through their friendship that they shared a commonality of enduring the same systemic abuse with a same court official. Our hope, in sharing our stories is bringing awareness to corruption within the system, and exposing court officials who should also be held responsible for not protecting victims of domestic violence and their children. This will be a two-part episode and trust me you don't wanna miss any of it !
