The vast majority of these derring-do characters dwell within two distinct universes, the action-packed realms of DC and Marvel. While almost all began their careers as drawings on the pages of dime store comics, more and more of them have moved from 2D to 3D, now living large in blockbuster movies, Hollywood's superhero superstars.
