It was an unearthly hour
I dreamt, I was running around in circles
till my legs wobbled and head felt dizzy
I heaved myself off the bed
My clothes stuck to my body like my second skin
It was freezing cold
Dawn, still a long way off.
My voice, trembling, wafted over to you, in the kitchen
where you were making frothy strong coffee
and some potato crisps
taking your own sweet time.
You dropped the threads
swooped me in your arms
playing with my unkempt locks
sat me down and kissed my head.
Fears vanished
we sauntered on to the terrace with mugs of fuming coffee
stood lost, in each other's eyes
catapulting into adolescence.
There dawned a sunny day
out of the sea
picking up the signs of life
trees breezed by
birdies joined in the festivities of love.
