RATING
You ever wish you were one of the people who could get their life together and rewatch the MCU in chronological order? Yeah, me too. Fortunately you don't have to when Malcolm and Justin are there to do the good work for you. As a casual MCU fan who sees and enjoys the movies in theaters but never really goes back to visit my non-favorites, this is the perfect show. Malcolm and Justin are fair to the movies that the fandom can be unduly harsh on, and even point out merits of the much-maligned like Iron Man 2. They also freely discuss the characterizations that don't add up in the long run and other (probably unavoidable) flaws of a long-running universe. Definitely one to listen to no matter what degree of MCU fan you are.
An interesting in-depth discussion about the Marvel movies from two lovers of cinema.
Given the popularity of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, there's a lot of podcasts that you could listen to to hear discussions of these films. However, this one distinguishes itself by its tight structure; it keeps the discussions very focused and non-rambly, while the hosts' chemistry keeps that structure from feeling overly rigid or forced. If you've ever caught an episode of their previous show, Apoc Radio, you'll know what a fantastic rapport Justin Vignola and Malcolm Nygard have. If not, and you enjoy these films, you're in for a treat. There's two pretty common mistakes people make with comic book movies; either they dismiss them entirely (often in a pretty sneering and snobby way), or they think they are the be-all-and-end-all of cinema, which they clearly aren't. Justin & Malcolm clearly love the series as a whole but are a million miles from being uncritical fanboys. They offer some very incisive analysis of the films' storytelling, character depiction, and world-building. If they think something is poorly done, they'll say so, but they also avoid getting into petty 'that would never happen' griping that doesn't take genre conventions into account. You definitely don't have to be a Marvel movie super-fan to enjoy this podcast; I've probably seen just over half of them (they can make them faster than I can watch them, apparently), and this is still a show where I eagerly anticipate the release of the next episode.
