Me: "I'm going to go get groceries for dinner tonight." Mom: "Make sure you eat a hot dog." Me: "I'm making my pasta salad, I'm not doing hot dogs." Mom: "You have to, to say you did it the American way." Me: "Mom, I'm making a dish with the word 'salad' in it, but it contains no vegetables and tons of cheese. Doesn't that sound pretty American to you?"
