With an ever-changing work landscape, who knows what the future holds for job security. Losing your job is a possible reality for many people, but why? …

In this episode I had the honor of being joined by Maruan El Mahgiub today, Maruan is an award-winning strategic communications professional, IE Alumni and Director of Business Strategy and guest speaker at Tedx Madrid where he spoke about digitization of the future workplace.

3 key areas discussed in this episode.

Section 1: Digitization of future workforce

There is a growing concern around automation displacing jobs over the next 10 to 15 years, how will automation will affect jobs?

How will this effect wages?

Which domains in the workplace will still require the human intellect and cannot be easily replaced through digitization?

Section 2: Growth in entrepreneurship

Globally, countries at the entrepreneurial forefront are Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark, Australia, UK a few others and of course the US. In the US alone the number of university entrepreneurship programs have increased from 180 to over 2000 between 1990 and 2014 (https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/288286). Which comes as no surprised due to the US attractive ecosystem, infrastructure and resources in its low barrier to entry marketplace.

But why is it is becoming more and more common to see this shift in younger generations to want to steer away from traditional work?

Section 3: Is the education system properly preparing us for the future?

A generations ability to thrive in an ever-changing world comes down to education, does our current education system is adequately preparing us for the future?

In the Tedx talk, it was discussed that our need for curiosity and our need to continue to develop it, but the education system seems to sap that out of us at a young age. Is it intentional or just a byproduct of the system?

The benefits of facilitating the growth of people’s curiosity.

What needs to change in our current system to allow our natural curiousness to grow and to be brought forth?

I hope you enjoyed this episode!
