Welcome to Mindful Hypnosis.

1:28

I am Cheryl, your host. Children are very curious and they are pretty mindful without us having to do much to teach them.

1:39

If anything, the children can teach us how to be more mindful, but I still want to give you a few things and ways to help you to bring mindfulness into your child's life.

1:52

The most important thing that you can do when it comes to mindfulness in your children is to not untie them to be mindful.

2:01

Children laugh at nothing. They're curious with everything and they love to explore, and when they become unmindful is when they start to become afraid, when they question things that they shouldn't have to question and when they start to take on their parents' issues.

2:19

You're overthinking, you're worrying, becomes they're overthinking and they're worrying.

2:25

So be aware of that. Allow them to be as present and as joyful and as inquisitive for as long as they possibly can, while keeping them safe, of course, but you don't want to squish or squash the desire to play and explore.

2:44

You don't want to squish or squash their laughter or their little tiny bit of gratitude, because they're so appreciative of things you know and this is part of mindfulness when you teach them to appreciate the small things and to just explore and play.

3:04

I saw and I forgot what it was, but it was this person carrying something heavy, a statue, and there was a little picture of a girl trying to hold it up, the statue up, to help this person who was carrying it, and it just teaches you know of their desire to to help and to be good and wholesome, and they do this naturally.

3:33

So there are not a lot of things that you have to do in order to help your children to become mindful, but if you want some actual tips, teach them physical sensations feeling their fingers and toes wiggle, how it feels to stretch and to jump and to move, and bringing the elements feeling the sun on their face or the wind in their hair or the coldness of a snowball, and maybe how soft a flower petal feels.

4:06

And it's all about just noticing and diving deep into the sensory component and just allowing them to immerse themselves and you all see their face will light up.

4:18

I mean, if we could only be so joyful as to feel a flower petal as a four year old does, I mean seriously Right, life would be so good.

4:30

But keep everything you're teaching with them very short, because their attention span is short, and teach them how to take a deep breath and then how to let it go and how to shake things off, and literally they'll shake their whole body.

4:45

It's a wonderful thing to see, I shake my whole body now because I've learned that feels really good and it also reminds me when you're going down the street and you go by a car dealership and you have that flying thing that's bodies moving all over the place and its arms are whacking itself in the head.

5:02

Okay, well, that's me when I do my my shaking it off.

5:06

You can also teach them how to notice and feel a hug, the fur of a cat or the lick of a dog, even doggy breath, you know, which won't likely they'll hold their nose.

5:20

But another way, and the last way that you can teach your children to be mindful is when you become mindful.

5:30

They are going to mirror you and we also have mirror neurons in our body than these mirror neurons help us connect to people and they're going to connect to the softness around you, to the kindness and the spaciousness that you have, and they're going to want to become more like you and they're going to become mindful automatically, without you having to do anything.

5:55

So you're going to learn the exchange of.

5:58

You're going to become more mindful when you're with them, because now you get to watch them and notice them being mindful and notice them being inquisitive and playful and having so much appreciation for the little things that it is also going to make you feel the same, and then they're going to notice how you were mindful as an adult and they're going to want to be the same.

6:22

It all trickles down.

6:25

It's all a combination.

6:27

It all spirals from one to the other.

6:31

So have fun. Let me know how these tips and ways help and I will see you on the next episode.

6:39

Take a deep breath in and exhale.
