This episode is for you if you suffer from SD or someday syndrome.  We all have dreams that we want to accomplish but so often we do not take action on them and let them sit up on a shelf.  We think wouldn’t it be nice if we could make it happen.  We look at others who have “all the luck” and don’t see how we can make this happen for ourselves.

The are beliefs that we hold that keep us stuck in someday syndrome. Anna shares with us how she leaves her full time job with nothing else lines up. For so many of us – this may not feel possible. What she shares is maybe it isn’t for some people who have mortgages, cars, significant others, children, etc.

But if we are in a position where we have obligations, we need to look at our numbers and see what can we do to make this possible. To really look at what can I do to make this possible. A lot of this are mental beliefs, assumptions, and fear of making the wrong choice and looking foolish.

[15:30] Different Categories of Those Who Leave their 9-5

There are people who go for it right away with nothing lined up, there are other people who do freelancing until their business is able to support them full time. Other people have an idea and go for it right away.

There is no right way to go into it. But if you have your 9-5 you are patient and know it is slower but you are safer & have more money or you go all in on your business and know it will go faster.

If you’re still not sure what your dream is, you can take some time away to get out of your usual comfort zone to give yourself space & try some new things to get some perspective on what you really want to do. Then you begin to think if I were to do something different, what might that be.

[24:15] Why We Need to Take Our Dreams Off the Shelf to Cure Someday Syndrome

Anna talks about how so many of us have theoretical dreams & we just keep it up on a shelf and look at it and think about how lovely it is. Instead – we need to take it off of the shelf and make a messy real version of it that is actually real for us.

We get so stuck staring at our crystal ball on the shelf and do not do anything with it. But we really need to take our one day to day one to get rid of someday syndrome.
