There are several possible takes on the Forrest Fenn story; this is one of them, exploring it through the lens of one man's search for the treasure. Fair warning - this isn't The Definitive Podcast About the Forrest Fenn Treasure, and it will probably take some years before that can be made. Rather, it's a sensitive meditation on the nature of treasure hunting, why someone would do it, why someone would hide treasure, and one family's complex story. Recommended.

I enjoyed this one. Peter Frick-Wright did an excellent job of pulling a personal story out of this wild adventure, and I loved the parallels he found between finding a public treasure versus uncovering your personal story, and even between one dedicated treasure hunter hoping to get lucky and the experience of spending months reporting a story that probably won't work out but may make you very famous.I especially appreciated the time he spent examining the ethics and even the legal implications of placing a hoard of gold on public land, the impulses this plays to in certain people, and the motives that might be behind creating this whole very questionable headache. In the end, I cared more about the people in the story than I did about the treasure. Loved it!
