Alison Désir is a host, athlete, activist, therapist, author, and mom. She hosts the Seattle public television program, “Out & Back with Alison Mariella Désir” and co-founded Harlem Run, a collective of runners in New York City. Alison is also the author of the new book “Running While Black: Finding Freedom in a Sport That Wasn't Built for Us”.
In this conversation Alison goes into detail about her difficult pregnancy and how our culture doesn't prepare women for the realities of giving birth. She also discusses the problems facing athletes of color.
