Now unless this is your first time tuning

in to Monsters Among Us, you've

0:08

probably already heard about microdosing

0:13

myself included, are microdosing for

but Microdose Gummies are different. They

0:53

and terpenes in perfect

MONSTERSAMONGUS. Good

2:33

evening and welcome. The monsters among

2:35

us. I am your guide. Turkeys.

2:41

Is it dark enough out there for you? I

2:44

swear it's dark at 4.30 here these days. And

2:49

of course I love the dark as much as the next

2:51

weirdo. But even I

2:53

have my limits. Thankfully

2:56

the winter solstice is right around the corner. So

3:01

relief is in sight. But

3:05

you know if there's anything prolonged darkness is good

3:07

for? It's

3:09

sharing stories. Scary

3:12

stories. And

3:14

if that's what you're after, you came to the right

3:16

place. This is

3:18

Monsters Among Us Podcast. A call in shell

3:21

covering a bevy of strange and

3:23

unusual subjects. The

3:25

paranormal. The supernatural. The

3:28

unusual. And the unexplained. And

3:32

quite the collection I have for you this evening. Tales

3:35

of haunted houses. Glowing

3:37

anomalies. And

3:39

humanoid abominations. Like

3:42

something straight out of a Harry Potter

3:44

installment. But we

3:46

begin this evening with the Native American

3:48

legend that is said to

3:50

be so dangerous that

3:52

many do not even utter the name. To

3:57

kick us off this evening we venture to the state that

3:59

was its... of once labeled Indian

4:01

Territory and was the

4:03

eventual landing place for many forcibly

4:06

displaced tribes. The

4:09

states of Oklahoma where

4:12

one of its residents saw something they

4:14

probably shouldn't have. Tom,

4:18

welcome to the program. Hi,

4:24

this is Tom. I live in the

4:26

northeast corner of Oklahoma and

4:28

I'm calling in to reference

4:30

to season 15 episode 6.

4:33

A man from Alabama and his daughter had called

4:37

in and they thought they heard

4:39

a skin walker and there

4:41

was some conversation about skin walkers

4:44

only being tied to the four

4:46

corners of Arizona which

4:48

I'm very familiar with and

4:50

I for a long time believed that

4:52

too. I'm part Native American and

4:55

the story I'm calling in about is

4:57

with my friend. He's also Native American

5:00

and he runs a sweat lodge

5:02

near Pawhuska, Oklahoma and

5:04

I was a big part of that. I'm the fireman

5:07

and this is pre-covid so about

5:10

2019 and I

5:12

was going to his house

5:14

and doing sweats with him and it was all

5:16

very good, very peaceful, lots of

5:18

healing going on and

5:21

one day we met at the Mexican restaurant in

5:23

Pawhuska and he told me the story. There's a

5:25

big group of us there that

5:28

the night before or the two

5:30

nights before actually he has about

5:32

40 acres behind his house and he went and killed

5:35

the deer and it was

5:37

kind of a celebration and him and his co-worker

5:39

were there and they were cutting it up and

5:41

eating it and it was real a good thing.

5:43

He has a big family, five kids and it

5:47

was a big deal and they were outside that

5:49

night after they were done with the deer a

5:51

little bit and smoking a cigarette outside it was

5:54

cold. It was going into the

5:56

winter months and he has

5:58

acorn trees throughout his house. friend said

6:01

an acorn hit him in his wallet which means

6:03

his pocket his pants pocket and

6:06

then like oh that's weird you know and

6:09

he just he mentioned it and it was kind of the thing

6:11

and and then all of a sudden

6:13

a few minutes later they're outside smoking a cigarette his

6:16

dog around the side of the

6:18

garage they're outside of the front door and the

6:20

garage is around the side his

6:22

dog starts growling around

6:26

the side of the garage and

6:29

you know his dog just you know it's a dog

6:31

so it could do that but it was just kind

6:33

of weird that it did that and so

6:35

they kind of got spooked and

6:37

they went back inside and well later on

6:40

in the night they came back

6:42

out you know kind of forgot about that and

6:45

we're smoking a cigarette again out in the by

6:47

the front door and again an acorn

6:50

flew and hit his co-worker

6:53

I think this time it

6:55

was in his his shirt grounded waist

6:57

reason anyways you know

7:00

after that it was more than a coincidence you

7:02

know it wasn't really a windy night or anything

7:04

but an acorn flew and hit him and

7:07

so the dog was out there again and

7:10

and it was just so freaky

7:12

the dog started growling again and

7:16

they were just like what is going on

7:18

and then all of a sudden they heard this like

7:20

gurgling sound like I don't really

7:22

want to recreate it but it

7:24

was just this gurgling kind of not a roar

7:26

not a not really a growl

7:28

anything it was just this gurgling sound

7:30

and they ran back inside and

7:33

they were just really freaked out and

7:36

that was the end of that night so the

7:39

next day my friend goes

7:41

to work that was on a weekend like say

7:43

my friend goes to work and he's coming back

7:45

home and right

7:47

on the side of his front porch there

7:50

is his dog pad he

7:52

has several dogs right before

7:54

he went into his front door he went down to pet

7:56

his dog and she was

7:58

looking up past him him and

8:01

he noticed that. So

8:03

he looked around his shoulder and

8:06

when he did there was an

8:08

entity what he

8:10

very descriptively told to me

8:13

was half man, the lower part of

8:16

his body was half man and

8:18

the upper part of his body was

8:20

half deer. The head was

8:22

deer and it had antlers and

8:25

it was running across his yard. When

8:28

he looked it was running across his yard

8:31

and it just completely freaked him

8:33

out. He ran inside

8:35

and you know the

8:38

details are that half

8:40

man, lower half and

8:42

the upper half, half deer. And

8:45

a lot of the time skin walkers are

8:48

reported as that. Half

8:51

human, half animal and

8:54

you know the big part of

8:56

the story is that skin

8:58

walkers are part of

9:01

the southwest but they can happen anywhere

9:03

and we're Native American and my

9:05

friend is running a sweat lodge and

9:09

when you're doing really good things a lot

9:11

of times evil or bad things

9:13

or bad people or you

9:15

know skin walkers try

9:18

to come and occupy that space

9:20

or try to take that over

9:23

for whatever reasons. So

9:26

he had that happen to him and this is

9:28

in northeast Oklahoma and I never

9:30

ever would have thought he would have come to

9:32

me with this story and it was kind of

9:34

out of the blue and it really shocked me

9:36

and I haven't been back to his house since.

9:40

This is a skin walker story from the

9:42

northeast corner of Oklahoma. I just

9:44

thought I'd tell you guys that they're not just in

9:46

the southwest. That's the only

9:48

thing I can make this out to be. Maybe

9:50

it's not but I'm just

9:52

sharing my story. So thank you

9:54

very much. Love your show Derek. Bye.

9:59

Thank you. And yes, Tom, it's

10:02

generally been my train of thought here

10:05

that we really shouldn't just call anything that

10:07

resembles the legend of the Skinwalker, an

10:10

actual Skinwalker, especially

10:12

if it didn't occur in the region where the Skinwalker

10:15

legend originated, with

10:18

the Navajo Nation, from what

10:20

I understand, from the Four

10:23

Corners area, as Tom had

10:25

mentioned. But

10:28

I will say, there are many of you out there

10:30

that disagree with me here. One

10:32

fellow even suggested that the Skinwalker could have

10:35

simply taken a bus, which is

10:37

not so in his human form, which

10:39

I suppose makes as much sense as anything. So

10:44

I guess I'm admitting that my

10:46

opinion on the matter is drifting, but

10:49

we're actually in luck here this evening. No

10:53

more guessing, necessary. As

10:56

a while back, possibly on that same episode Tom

10:58

was referring to, I asked that

11:00

members of the Navajo Nation reach out

11:02

and tell us what they could about

11:04

these Skinwalker legends. And

11:07

even though the topic is taboo on

11:09

the reservation, that didn't

11:11

stop Sunny from calling in and

11:14

spilling the beans on

11:16

this terrifyingly intriguing entity.

11:20

Hi, my name is Sunny. I really

11:22

enjoy your podcast and I have started from

11:24

the beginning. And right now

11:26

I'm on season four, episode 15. And

11:29

in this episode, a gentleman talks about

11:31

being on an Apache reservation, driving

11:34

and seeing somebody

11:36

pacing him at 45 miles per hour,

11:39

notice a person with red and white

11:41

paint on their face. I don't

11:43

know if anybody has responded to this or gone back to

11:45

it because again, now I'm just like an

11:47

episode past it. But

11:49

that's a Skinwalker. I'm from the

11:51

Navajo reservation and that is

11:54

how we see them. They're not

11:56

always in shapeshift mode. They

11:58

have unnatural. abilities to

12:01

do certain things and one of those is

12:03

to run incredibly fast and a lot of

12:05

these witches will go ahead

12:07

and paint themselves up and sometimes it's

12:10

like how that man had

12:12

seen that that thing. Other

12:14

times it's full-face black

12:18

but my experiences and my

12:20

creepy stories not necessarily something I've

12:22

experienced myself but my my cousin

12:24

she is a trauma nurse on

12:26

the reservation and she

12:29

has had experiences with somebody

12:31

coming in having been hurt and

12:33

the medical staff were told not to

12:36

go into that room so

12:38

it was only two non-natives who went

12:40

into that room to go ahead and

12:42

help that person who had been brought

12:44

in and they

12:46

said that he was not

12:48

normal when he came in like there's things

12:51

are definitely off about him but none of

12:53

the Navajos or other natives from different types

12:55

would go in to go ahead and help

12:57

and later on is reported that those two

13:00

people that helped him later on died one

13:02

of them I believe was from cancer and the other

13:04

one was from a heart attack and

13:07

in our culture there are things

13:09

that happen when you mess around

13:11

with witches or that's what they are

13:13

to us is just witches but there are things that

13:15

can happen to you when you come around

13:17

them there are things that they do to

13:19

other people and it's just sometimes just a

13:21

menacing vibe but sometimes it's

13:24

just because they do really bad

13:26

things and it just emanates from

13:28

them but that's it

13:30

I just want to go ahead and let you

13:32

know has somebody from that actual tribe that

13:35

yes we do have varying

13:37

ideas and knowledge of what skin markers are

13:39

and what they can do I really

13:42

do enjoy your show and I do wish

13:44

that there was a little bit more of that cultural understanding

13:47

that it's not linear

13:49

you know what is considered

13:51

a dog

13:53

man in someplace might be a skin walker

13:55

someplace else and what is typically

13:57

skin walker activity like in the skin

14:00

Walker Ranch, things they're talking about in there,

14:02

is not something that we would see on

14:04

our side of things. You know,

14:06

it varies from place to place, just

14:08

like how different sightings of, I don't

14:10

know, Bigfoot for example, vary from place

14:12

to place. But I just wanted to go ahead and

14:14

get that out there and that little bit of clarification.

14:17

Anyways, enjoy the show and I hope you have a

14:19

great evening. Bye. Well,

14:22

we're trying to clear it all up, Sunny. So

14:25

thank you for that additional info. Now

14:29

terrifying, that strange hospital visit.

14:33

It kind of reminds me of the 1994 death

14:36

of Gloria Ramirez, a

14:39

Riverside, California woman who was admitted

14:41

to the hospital suffering complications from

14:43

late stage cancer. While

14:46

treating Ramirez, several hospital

14:48

workers feeted and others experienced symptoms

14:50

such as shortness of breath and

14:52

muscle spasms. Five

14:54

workers in total required hospitalization.

14:58

The phone remained in intensive care

15:01

for over two weeks. Now

15:04

Ramirez herself died from the complications related

15:06

to her cancer, shortly after

15:09

arriving at the hospital.

15:13

And they never did find a satisfying

15:15

explanation for the strange sickness. That's

15:19

one of the many reasons why

15:22

I do my best to avoid hospitals. So

15:27

then, like I'll be wondering, is

15:29

this a skinwalker encounter as well? One

15:49

hundred percent anonymous here. I'm not going to

15:52

leave my name. I

15:54

have my location in South Carolina. I'll

15:57

tell you that. I've

15:59

never spoken to you. of this to anyone, ever.

16:02

I get chills even thinking of it now, afraid that

16:05

it may come back. About

16:08

three years ago, I was leaving my

16:10

girlfriend's house pretty late at night. I

16:13

was running late to meet some friends

16:15

to do other things that evening. Instead

16:17

of taking the normal highway, I took a

16:19

dirt road that cuts through one

16:21

road to the other in my town of

16:24

Camden, South Carolina. It's

16:26

a place that kids go to hang out and

16:28

drink and fight and do all those kind

16:30

of things. But this was

16:33

just getting dark. So like

16:36

at the point where you have to cut your headlights on, I

16:39

knew there'd be nobody out there so I could kind of

16:41

haul, but through there would be able

16:43

to make my meeting with my friends on time. As

16:47

I'm driving through, saw

16:49

something out of the corner of my eye, thought maybe

16:51

I was tired, wasn't sure what it was, maybe

16:54

a fallen tree or what have you, and

16:58

just kept driving. Then

17:00

I saw it again and I slowed

17:03

down a little and started paying more attention to what

17:05

was on the driver's side of my truck. I

17:08

seen a face, a pale face, that

17:12

was way taller than my truck. I,

17:15

elbow height was the top of my truck and this was

17:17

a 94 Ford Ranger. I

17:20

kept driving once I seen that and I told

17:23

myself I'm seeing things that this can't be real.

17:27

Sped up a little, looked

17:29

over and through the woods dodging trees it

17:31

was keeping pace with me. Okay,

17:35

something's wrong. Your mind's playing tricks on you.

17:37

This can't be real. You're tired. All

17:40

of those things come into play trying

17:42

to explain this. Sped

17:45

up a little more. 60 miles an

17:48

hour. I look over as clear as I

17:50

can see I'm being looked back in my

17:52

face by I don't

17:54

know what else to say but a big foot, keeping

17:58

pace with my truck. Then

18:01

it disappeared. That

18:06

was me trying to convince myself, okay, you were seeing

18:08

things, you were crazy. Kept

18:10

driving, slowed back down to 45 or 50

18:13

because that little truck would get loose on

18:15

dirt. Maybe

18:17

100 yards down the road. Standing

18:21

in front of my truck was the biggest thing I've

18:23

ever seen in my entire life. It

18:26

had to be 8, 8.5 foot tall, 350, 400 pounds. Clear

18:34

as day of Bigfoot. I

18:36

don't tell people this because I feel crazy, but clear

18:39

as day of Bigfoot. I slammed on

18:41

brakes. By the time my truck slid to where

18:43

he was standing, he was

18:45

gone. My

18:48

heart was pounding on my throat. I grabbed my gun

18:50

out of the glove box. Didn't

18:53

know what to do. Made me a moment to collect

18:55

myself, put my truck back in gear and

18:58

drove off like I was

19:00

in a NASCAR race just trying to get away.

19:04

I've been holding that story for years. I

19:07

have never told anyone because

19:11

they would think I'm crazy or I was

19:13

on drugs or something. I'm

19:15

not. I've never even smoked

19:17

marijuana. But I told

19:19

you because I found your podcast today on accident.

19:23

And I thought at least someone would listen. I've

19:27

never driven down that road since and

19:29

I never will. Thank

19:32

you, Collar. Now it

19:34

seems our Collar feels this somehow relates

19:36

to the Sasquatch Bigfoot phenomena. But

19:40

I can't help but wonder if this

19:42

tale could be another of these skinwalker

19:44

encounters. The

19:46

bail or perhaps painted face and

19:49

the entity also ran alongside the

19:51

Collar's vehicle. That's

19:53

classic skinwalker behavior if we've learned

19:55

anything. And

19:58

I have at least a half a dozen other calls. that

20:00

also detail strange human-like figures

20:03

racing alongside speeding vehicles. And

20:06

believe it or not, not all of

20:08

them come from the Four Corners area. So

20:15

I guess that's all I have on this subject for now.

20:18

But I have no doubt that we're going to hear

20:20

more on an upcoming episode. But

20:24

while I can't say for certain where the Skinwalker may

20:26

officially roam, I can

20:28

say it's now reaching far-off

20:31

places via our

20:33

own zeitgeist. Thank

20:38

you again everyone for calling in.

20:49

season, what does it look like to

20:51

you? Is it opening

20:53

physical presents, donating, or spending

20:55

quality time? Whichever the

20:57

case, in the hustle and bustle of

20:59

it all, don't forget to give yourself

21:01

some love this holiday season. That

21:04

could mean taking time off for a therapy

21:06

session, giving yourself a rest day, or

21:08

going easy on yourself during the tough or

21:10

stressful moments of the season. If

21:13

therapy is one of the things on your personal

21:15

holiday wish list, give BetterHelp a

21:17

try. It's entirely online,

21:19

which makes it convenient,

21:21

flexible, and affordable. And

21:24

if for some reason you aren't vibing with the therapist

21:26

you're matched with, you can switch therapists

21:28

at any time for no additional charge.

21:55

can that voice come out of your sink drain?

22:02

Now this time of year many people

22:04

travel to far off destinations to celebrate

22:06

the holidays. Hawaii

22:09

often tops that list. But

22:11

just because a place is paradise doesn't

22:15

mean it can't be haunted. Anya

22:18

from Georgia, please

22:20

elaborate. Hi Derek, my

22:22

name is Anya and I have enjoyed listening to

22:24

your podcast for a little over a year now

22:26

but this is my first time calling in. I

22:30

grew up and was raised in Pearl

22:32

City, Oahu and when

22:34

I was going to high school

22:36

my parents purchased a fixer upper

22:38

sometime around 2002 that they eventually

22:40

remodeled into a completely unrecognizable home

22:42

from when we first moved in.

22:45

I don't know the exact details but the house was built

22:47

sometime in the 50s or 60s and still had

22:50

carpeting and appliances that at the very latest

22:52

were from the 70s so it was a

22:55

super outdated house. Their

22:57

plan was to completely gut the house

22:59

and add some additional square footage. When

23:02

we moved in there was one very large

23:04

window in the living room that overlooked the

23:06

front yard, the driveway and the street. The

23:09

way that their living room was set up, their

23:12

couch sat right below the center of this large

23:14

window so if you were in the living room

23:16

sitting up on the couch one

23:18

could see your head and possibly even your

23:20

shoulders depending on how tall you were from

23:22

outside through the window but if you were

23:24

laying down on the couch you would not

23:26

be seen at all. I

23:29

really wish that I could recall exactly what day

23:31

or even month or year

23:33

it was that this story took place but unfortunately

23:35

I just know that it occurred somewhere around 2003

23:37

and I was about 15 years old. My

23:41

mom and I used to enjoy taking walks

23:44

together around our neighborhood and just catching up

23:46

and talking, we're very close. Then

23:48

one afternoon we left for a walk with my

23:50

dad asleep on the couch. We

23:52

would always joke about how loud my

23:55

dad snores. Sorry dad. So

23:57

much so that you could hear him from outside. were

24:00

returning from our walk, just stepping onto the

24:02

grass of our yard, we could

24:04

faintly hear my dad's gnawing. And I

24:06

looked up and it just happened that

24:09

when I looked up, I noticed a

24:11

figure walking from the right side

24:13

of that large living room window to the

24:15

left side until it passed out of view.

24:18

There was no definition of the figure.

24:20

It just like a shadow of a

24:22

person, but it was unmistakably eerie. I

24:25

immediately snapped my head towards my mom

24:27

and she just looked at me knowingly

24:29

and acknowledged that she saw it, but

24:31

nothing more was said. When

24:33

we entered the house just a couple moments later, my

24:35

dad was still asleep on the couch. I

24:38

have no siblings and my father has

24:40

no history of sleepwalking. So to this

24:42

day, my mom still will

24:45

not discuss it and I have no

24:47

idea what it was. I

24:49

have not encountered anything similar

24:52

or even otherwise unusual

24:54

sense. But I just

24:56

really wanted to take a moment and share how

24:58

much I appreciate your show. I

25:00

think it's really unfortunate how taboo it

25:02

is for us as people to talk

25:05

about experiences like the ones that you

25:07

feature on your show, because

25:09

I think so many more people than

25:11

we realize have experiences of their own.

25:13

They just don't feel comfortable opening up

25:15

and sharing about it out of fear.

25:18

I know in my own family, obviously

25:20

about the experience that my mom and

25:22

I shared, but also my father had

25:24

an encounter with a spirit of

25:26

some sort on a freeway in

25:28

California and my husband experienced an

25:30

unexplainable light phenomenon in rural Kentucky.

25:33

But none of them really

25:35

feel comfortable about talking about their

25:37

experience the way that I eagerly

25:40

want to and I want to hear other people's

25:42

stories. I wish more people felt

25:44

open to discussion. I

25:46

also wanted to share that while my

25:48

parents are both very religious and won't

25:50

really discuss or most times even acknowledge

25:53

their own encounters or the possible

25:55

existence of things that they can't explain, they've

25:57

always allowed me the freedom to explore from

25:59

a very different very young age, my interest

26:01

in the paranormal. Growing up, I

26:03

watched films like the Mothman Prophecies and

26:05

Signs more times than I can count

26:07

and would rent books by the stack

26:09

load from the local library on Stonehenge,

26:11

Nessie, and anything else that could not

26:13

be explained without any judgment

26:15

or restriction from my parents, and I wish

26:18

that more parents could be like that. I

26:21

currently live in Georgia and have been meaning

26:23

to visit the Georgia Guidestones since we first

26:25

moved here three years ago, but unfortunately they

26:27

are now destroyed, which has taught me the

26:29

valuable lesson that when you want to do

26:31

something in life, make the time for it

26:33

not excuses because that opportunity might not always

26:36

be there. Thanks so much.

26:38

Bye. Thank

26:41

you, Anya. Now

26:44

it's never fun to see a person where you don't expect

26:46

to see one, especially

26:49

in your living room. And

26:53

trust me, Anya, no one

26:55

knows the importance of trust when it

26:57

comes to sharing these first-person experiences more

26:59

than I do. Even

27:01

when I disagree, I do

27:04

my best to stay respectful. And

27:07

some folks are perfectly fine sharing

27:09

their experiences. It doesn't bother

27:11

them in the slightest. But

27:14

others, and typically they have

27:16

good stories, need to

27:18

be coaxed a bit. They need

27:20

to be rest assured that they won't be made

27:22

out as a fine

27:26

line to tell. But I

27:29

think we manage. Now

27:31

regardless, we really appreciate everyone that does take

27:33

the time to share their calls. Obviously

27:38

without you, there would be

27:40

no program. Oh,

27:43

and lastly, Anya, I'd

27:45

like your advice. Act

27:47

while you can, not when you think

27:49

you're a person. Because chances

27:52

are you'll never be ready. And

27:54

that's a paraphrase, of course. Thank

27:57

you again, Anya, for the reminder. And

28:01

for the entry. Now

28:05

folks, this is the time when we normally remind

28:07

you that we sell merchandise via our website.

28:11

When we're actually closed for the holidays, the

28:13

shop will reopen on the 27th of December. Just

28:17

in case Santa didn't bring you, which you actually

28:19

wanted. And

28:21

a huge thanks to everyone that supported the show

28:23

this year by purchasing items from our shop.

28:27

Not only does it help us pay the

28:29

bills, but that sort of grassroots exposure can

28:32

be beat. Also

28:34

remember, if I catch you wearing some

28:36

of our merch in the wild, I

28:39

will 100% make it weird for the both of us.

28:44

And speaking of weird and support, we've

28:46

received a lot of feedback lately about our

28:48

ads. Specifically that we have

28:50

them in the first place and that we have too many.

28:54

Well folks, we don't have to like

28:56

it, but advertisements are a fact of life. Like

28:59

most podcasts, we need ads to survive. Three

29:02

different human beings make their living working in this

29:04

program. And that many

29:06

has to come from somewhere. And

29:09

I sure don't have it. So, cut

29:11

us some slack. Most free

29:13

content is supported by selling ad space, and

29:15

this program is no better. That

29:18

said, a huge thanks to everyone that listens to

29:20

those ads. And an even bigger thank

29:22

you to all those that support our

29:24

sponsors. We

29:27

really appreciate you guys. Now

29:30

then, enough of all that house cleaning stuff. Let's

29:33

get back to the tales. And

29:37

if this next entry occurred during the holiday season, I'd

29:41

have suspected a certain North Pole dwelling elf to

29:43

be responsible. But

29:46

in the middle of the summer, what

29:48

could it be? Steven,

29:51

welcome to tonight's program. Hey

29:54

Derek, this is Steven from Arizona again.

29:58

I'm not really sure what's going on here. first

30:00

thing that comes to mind was skinwalker, but

30:02

I really don't know. I was leaving

30:05

work. I work at a golf course in

30:07

Northern Arizona up here and this took place

30:10

in June so it was pretty late. It

30:12

was about nine o'clock or so, but there's

30:15

lots of woods around us, but I

30:17

just finished up, you know, locking up all the

30:19

doors and did all those fun closing tasks and

30:22

I stepped outside. I heard a

30:24

whistle coming from the woods. It

30:27

was just kind of a three-tone, just sort of like a... and

30:32

I thought, well that is weird and I thought

30:34

maybe it's a bird, but there

30:36

isn't really a bird that sounds like that up here.

30:39

Plus, it was almost nine o'clock

30:41

at the time and it was pretty much, you

30:43

know, pitch black outside. So I

30:45

just didn't think anything of it and I got in my

30:47

truck and when I turned the lights on, I noticed there

30:49

was another vehicle on the other side of the parking lot.

30:52

So I was just kind of thinking, oh there's,

30:54

you know, somebody else here at the course. They

30:56

might be up at the practice area, putting or

30:58

whatever. So I drove over there

31:00

and I got out, kind of looked around and then

31:02

I hear the whistling again. It was

31:07

louder this time. It was much, much

31:09

louder. There was nobody on the putting green. There

31:11

was nobody on the driving range. There was just, there

31:13

was no one there. I looked

31:15

at the car, looked in the car. I didn't

31:17

see anybody in the vehicle, so I figured I'm

31:19

just gonna call my boss about it and see

31:21

if he knows anything about this car and

31:24

he told me that it was someone who had

31:26

too much to drink at our bar the day

31:28

before and they had left their car here and

31:30

they had gotten a ride home. So

31:33

now I'm like, okay, I'm definitely by

31:35

myself. There's nobody else here and

31:38

there's something out there, you

31:40

know, whistling in the trees. So

31:43

I was like, I don't really feel safe here or comfortable

31:45

here, so I hop on my truck and take off and

31:48

I'm thinking, you know, that was weird. I'm just not gonna, you

31:50

know, think about it. I'm not gonna, not gonna

31:52

worry about it, but then later that

31:54

night I was asleep on the

31:56

couch downstairs. It was

31:58

unseasonably warm that night. as I remember,

32:01

and it was just it was too warm in

32:03

my bedroom. So I slept downstairs next to the air

32:05

conditioner and I was woken

32:07

up by something sounded like it was running. It

32:10

sounded like a deer just kind of running Which

32:12

happens from time to time? Being

32:15

in the woods. I know they come through our

32:17

yard all the time So I

32:19

didn't think anything of it, but it got weird when I

32:21

heard the sound of hooves on

32:24

the roof of the house It

32:26

wasn't my uncle or anybody upstairs. It was this

32:28

was outside it was

32:31

on the roof and it was like a like a

32:33

really steady like and

32:37

It went from one end of the house to the

32:39

other almost like it was pacing but kind of moving

32:42

very quickly So that kind

32:44

of freaked me out, but I don't know a whole lot

32:46

about what that could have been I mean my

32:48

first thought like I said was skinwalker But

32:50

I certainly could be wrong that not really,

32:53

you know knowledgeable on what they are exactly

32:55

and what they do But

32:57

you know, I just thought I would call you and

32:59

and maybe see if you had any answers, you

33:02

know Thanks again. I really enjoyed the show and I

33:04

look forward to hearing from you There's

33:06

that skinwalker again But

33:09

it seems too easy This

33:11

more reminds me of the Elsa long

33:13

legend or in English

33:19

Standing at nearly 10 feet tall This

33:22

bony emaciated Is

33:25

set to roam the countryside of America Now

33:36

it's said that the louder the whistle is There's

33:48

no mention of Although

33:53

there were plenty of examples of the

33:55

infamous Jersey Devil from New Jersey in

34:01

1909. Even was said to

34:03

have left a set of hoof tracks on

34:05

someone's rooftop. Now

34:08

I've linked to more information on each legend over

34:10

in the show notes. And

34:13

perhaps we'll do a deep dive on both

34:15

on a future episode. But

34:18

until then, big thanks,

34:20

Steven, for sharing the call. Well,

34:27

we've already discussed a possible skinwalker,

34:30

or maybe even Sasquatch in South Carolina.

34:34

So let's circle back this time

34:36

for an aerial anomaly in

34:38

the Palmetto State. Please

34:41

welcome John to the show. Hey,

34:45

Derek. This is John. I'm

34:48

from South Carolina, Rock Hill, the

34:50

bit of that. And

34:52

my story is, it

34:55

was probably about a

34:57

year or so ago. I live out

34:59

in the country. My dad gave me some land,

35:01

so we built a house out there. And we

35:04

kind of built the house beside a power

35:06

line that runs through a big field. It

35:09

was a clear night, full moon, very

35:11

bright. Like it was super bright outside,

35:14

you know, you could see everything. And

35:16

I don't have a huge, my front yard

35:19

kind of slopes down, going towards

35:21

the power line kind of. And there's

35:23

trees all around, there's trees all around

35:25

us. So I get up

35:27

to use the bathroom and I see like greenish

35:31

light flickering from behind my curtains when

35:33

I'm coming back from the bathroom. So

35:35

I'm like, okay, let me check this

35:37

out. So I opened up my curtains

35:40

and there's green lights. I

35:43

can't recall how many they were. I want to say

35:45

like three or four. They were green

35:48

light orbs. I

35:50

mean, these things had to be 20 feet because they were at

35:52

the top of our tree lines and they

35:54

were just zooming around, like

35:56

dancing around, going in

35:58

between the trees. you know

36:01

coming down towards the ground going back up

36:04

to me it looked like the size of a golf ball

36:06

and it wasn't as bright

36:08

as like an LED but they were bright I

36:10

mean they were I could still see like the

36:12

green cue coming off of them

36:15

like on the tree and on the ground

36:17

and of course I stand on my curtains that's what got

36:20

my attention in the first place so I'm

36:22

sitting there looking at it and I try

36:24

to wake my wife up at the time and

36:26

she does not get up like she would not

36:29

get up I don't know what it was and

36:31

so I'm just sitting there so I

36:33

stopped trying to wake her up and I'm just sitting

36:35

there looking these lights and I'm just like in disbelief

36:39

they're going up and down in and out flying

36:41

around each other like this

36:44

sporadic movement but they're green

36:47

so eventually I kind of just get like I

36:50

guess I just get you know

36:52

tired of looking at them so I go back to sleep I've

36:55

never seen anything like that I lived down in

36:57

this area where we built our houses behind my

36:59

dad's house where I lived down there my whole

37:01

life I've never seen anything like

37:03

that before or since down there

37:06

but I'm also a cotaba Indian and

37:09

my grandpa was the chief at one time

37:11

for the cotaba Indian nation and I

37:13

have so many stories that you

37:16

know about little people lights down

37:18

on the reservation that my grandpa was told

37:20

that other people was told so I can

37:22

call back and tell you some of those

37:24

but uh yeah that's my story

37:26

and uh it was unreal I

37:28

can't believe I you know I just went back

37:30

to sleep but I listen to another podcast called

37:32

uh strange familiar and I know

37:35

they talk about when people have like sightings

37:37

or whatever they just like they just go

37:39

back to sleep or you know they can't

37:41

really comprehend it but uh love the show

37:43

keep it up thanks oh

37:47

I agree John strange

37:49

familiars is a great program and Timothy

37:52

is a friend so I'll

37:55

give him in the gang Of

38:00

course. And

38:03

you know we hear it a lot here too John. People

38:07

simply falling back to sleep after experiencing

38:09

something strange. And

38:11

truth be told it's happened to me. Several

38:13

times. Not in

38:15

a paranormal sense. But if I

38:18

hear an animal screeching outside my window or

38:20

something crashing around downstairs. I

38:23

often shoot straight up. And

38:26

intently for a moment or two. Then

38:28

just simply go back to sleep. I

38:31

guess subconsciously I assessed the situation and

38:33

felt secure enough to doze off again.

38:37

And maybe that's just how humans are wired.

38:40

Maybe that's why that happens. They

38:43

say that we need sleep. Apparently.

38:48

And of course it's always possible that entities

38:50

from another planet, time or dimension

38:52

are responsible here. And

38:54

falling back to sleep is simply some sort of

38:57

screened memory that they've put in place. I

39:01

also suppose it could be a little of one

39:03

and a little of the other. But

39:06

instead of all that let's focus on what John actually

39:09

saw that moonlit evening. The

39:13

first thing to note is that the encounter took

39:15

place near high voltage power lines. Was

39:18

there something to that? Was

39:20

it simply a coincidence? Something

39:23

I'm going to have to look into in the future. Also

39:28

the color of the craft. Bright

39:31

green. Now it's

39:33

not unheard of to have that color reported during

39:35

a UFO sighting. But it's

39:37

not all that common either. I

39:40

attempted to find a breakdown of UFOs

39:42

by color. But it doesn't

39:44

seem like that exists anywhere. And

39:47

I thought it would be interesting if I found something

39:49

saying X percentage of UFOs are silver,

39:52

X percent are red, and

39:54

so on. Because I

39:56

naturally wonder where green would fall into

39:58

that breakdown. But

40:02

you know there also may be a clue in

40:05

that vibrant color. I

40:08

was trying to think of known objects that would shoot

40:10

green light through the sky, and

40:13

lasers instantly came to mind. And

40:17

you know it wasn't that hard to connect the dots

40:19

to the following via the Weather

40:22

Channel. A telescope

40:24

located on top of a dormant Hawaiian

40:27

volcano spotted these strange laser lines in

40:29

the night sky. Now, before you get

40:31

too excited, let me tell you this

40:33

is not an alien invasion, and you

40:35

didn't just enter the matrix. While

40:37

this scene only lasted for a second

40:40

or less, it was certainly enough to

40:42

pique the curiosity of scientists at the

40:44

observatory. At first, they said it was

40:46

a NASA satellite that uses lasers to measure

40:48

elevation on Earth. But later on,

40:51

they issued a correction, saying that

40:53

NASA scientists said it wasn't their

40:55

satellite. NASA says that based on

40:57

the timing, a Chinese satellite overhead

40:59

was most likely the source of

41:01

the lasers. The satellite has a

41:03

LIDAR instrument on board that likely

41:05

caused the strange effect in the

41:07

sky. According to the

41:09

World Meteorological Organization, the satellite's

41:12

downward-pointing lasers track aerosols and

41:14

carbon dioxide emissions related to

41:16

climate change. Now,

41:20

it's important to note that the images shown

41:22

in this clip are of a bright green

41:24

laser beam shooting vertically down to Earth. I

41:28

say that because they don't actually mention that it's green

41:30

in the clip, but you can

41:32

clearly see it there on the screen. Go

41:36

to the shout-outs and take a look. The

41:39

point being, if this was a

41:41

satellite, you have to assume that it also

41:44

had the ability to pass over Rock Hill,

41:46

South Carolina, and possibly

41:48

even John's place, beaming

41:50

down that bright green glow. But

41:55

I'll be the first to admit that it doesn't really match

41:57

up. The beams were only captured for

41:59

a split set. And they

42:01

were ten beams of light, not

42:04

dancing orbs as John detailed.

42:08

So be sure to take this explanation with a

42:10

grain of salt. Hell,

42:12

take all my explanations with a grain of salt.

42:15

I wasn't there, and I don't know. These

42:19

are just suggestions. But

42:23

if not satellites, what could they

42:25

be? And

42:27

lit up kites, drones, some

42:29

newfangled searchlight, or

42:32

perhaps an art installment. I

42:34

did find one that shot green lasers into the

42:36

sky, but it was in

42:38

Europe. And

42:40

I even found footage of a green meteor. Links

42:44

to both of those, of

42:46

course in the show notes. But

42:49

if not all that, could it be an

42:51

honest-to-goodness alien craft? You

42:53

know, if it were, it wouldn't be the first

42:55

witnessed in Rockhill. I

42:58

managed to find a pair of videos that were

43:00

shot in the Rockhill, South Carolina area, that

43:03

allegedly show genuine UFOs.

43:06

The first is a shaky video of a silver

43:08

ball. Though when you pause it,

43:11

the hue is often a greenish tone. The

43:14

other is one of the most wild UFO

43:16

videos I have seen to date. And

43:19

frankly, I'm surprised. Isn't that

43:21

more coverage? It

43:23

was released a month ago, and begins

43:26

by the videographer zooming into the clouds,

43:28

where we can see a flea-ter swarm

43:30

of round white objects at

43:32

very high altitude. Then,

43:35

halfway through the video, what appears to

43:37

be a military death of some sort

43:39

comes ripping through the cluster of a

43:41

dozen or so pale white orbs. It's

43:46

pretty wild. And of

43:48

course, I left a link in

43:50

the show notes. This

43:53

has been a very show notes-heavy package. I

43:56

apologize. If

43:58

only I had a television show. Anyway,

44:01

go check out all that additional information

44:04

and see for yourself. There's

44:06

no telling what Jon saw, and

44:08

the possibilities are literally endless.

44:12

But if it were something from out of this world,

44:15

we now know that he might not be alone.

44:18

Thank you again, Jon, for

44:21

sharing the entry. The

44:25

holidays start here at Kroger with a

44:27

variety of options to celebrate traditions old

44:29

and new. You could do a classic

44:31

herb-roasted turkey or spice it up and

44:33

make turkey tacos. Serve up

44:35

a go-to shrimp cocktail or use

44:37

simple-truth wild-caught shrimp for your first

44:40

Cajun risotto. Make creamy mac and

44:42

cheese or a spinach artichoke fondue

44:44

from our selection of Murray's cheese.

44:46

No matter how you shop, Kroger

44:48

has all the freshest ingredients to

44:50

embrace all your holiday traditions. Kroger,

44:52

fresh for everyone. Now

44:58

then, on to our last few

45:00

calls of the evening. And

45:03

this next one is one I've been sitting on

45:05

for quite a while. Not

45:07

because I didn't want to share it, to

45:09

the contrary actually, but

45:11

because I was looking for additional information that

45:13

could help explain this case. And

45:16

finally, with help from my assistant Delaney and

45:19

another caller, I think

45:21

it's finally time that we share. So,

45:24

from the state of Kansas, please

45:27

welcome Elizabeth. Hello,

45:33

my name is Elizabeth. I

45:37

am from Kansas. I

45:39

grew up in Hope, Kansas,

45:42

on a dairy farm out in the middle

45:44

of nowhere, just open

45:47

fields. And my

45:49

friend is an avid listener of

45:51

you guys, and I have

45:53

no social media at all. And

45:55

he has encouraged me to share

45:57

this story with you guys. So

46:00

here I am. I was about

46:02

seven years old when this happened. And

46:05

I was out

46:07

on a summer's day on

46:09

the dairy farm in Hope, Kansas. And

46:13

we had a flagstone

46:15

walkway in between our

46:17

milk barn and

46:20

our granary. And I

46:22

would get chips of flagstone. And I'd

46:24

go and draw hopscotch or pictures. And

46:26

I'd use it as sidewalk chalk. And

46:30

I was heading out to this little

46:32

walkway. My dad was

46:34

talking to our neighbor on the other side of the

46:36

granary. And I went to

46:39

this little walkway between the milk barn

46:41

and the granary. And I

46:44

saw this creature. And

46:48

I was paralyzed. I could not move.

46:51

I held my breath. I couldn't

46:53

breathe. I was just in shock.

46:57

I guess maybe fear had taken over my

46:59

body. I don't know. I just

47:01

stood there and stared at this creature. And

47:04

the creature stared back at me. And we

47:06

just stared at each other. Neither of us

47:08

moved. The creature looked as surprised to see

47:10

me as I looked as surprised to see

47:13

this creature. It

47:15

was very short, maybe

47:18

three feet tall. It

47:20

was all pink. You

47:22

could see all of its veins,

47:24

like purple, blueish-green veins all over

47:27

its little body. I

47:29

had no hair or fur or anything. It was

47:31

just pink. I

47:34

don't know. Like a skinned gremlin, maybe,

47:36

or something. I don't know. It had

47:38

very round, bug eyes. They

47:40

were eyeballs. They were just kind of bugged out, like

47:42

a pug's eyes or something. And it

47:44

kind of had pointy-ish bear-type

47:47

ears. And it was

47:50

shocked to see me. It was kind of shocked to see it. I

47:52

couldn't move or breathe. I was just stared

47:54

at it and it stared at me. Finally,

47:57

I got the courage to. just

48:00

turn and run on bolts of the house, just

48:02

screaming and crying tears. And

48:04

I get inside the house and that whole

48:07

time my dad was on the other side of the

48:09

granary and he did not hear

48:11

me screaming or running or anything. I

48:13

get into the house, I go

48:15

and tell my mom, and she's

48:17

like, Oh, it's just a figment of your

48:20

imagination. Oh, it's nothing. I tell my grandma,

48:22

Oh, it's just a figment of your imagination.

48:24

It's nothing. My dad, like, I

48:26

didn't hear you scream or run or

48:28

anything. And

48:30

I am not one to like

48:33

tell tales like this truly happened

48:35

to me. And

48:37

then years and years later, I was about 18

48:40

years old and I was back home with

48:42

my parents and the power went

48:44

out and we're all sitting

48:47

around telling stories in the dark. And

48:49

I tell the same stories and

48:52

my dad finally comes

48:55

to truth because I guess I'm old enough and he tells

48:57

me, he goes, you know,

49:00

our farmhand at that exact same time,

49:02

who was 23 and I was

49:05

seven, he said

49:07

our farmhand at that exact same time

49:09

would describe the exact

49:11

same creature to him and said

49:13

that our farmhand would see the

49:15

same creature when they were out

49:17

feeding bucket caps and stuff. And

49:20

then there would be like hanging out in the trees and around the

49:22

barns. So a 23 year

49:24

old at the exact same time was seeing the exact

49:26

same creature that a seven year old was seeing. And

49:29

that verified to me that it was

49:32

as real as could be. So

49:34

this really happened. I don't know what it was.

49:37

Nobody knows what it was. And

49:40

then years later, lightning struck the

49:42

granary caught on fire and the milk barn

49:44

and the granary both burned down. So

49:49

maybe it was like a different dimension I stepped

49:51

into. Maybe it was an alien. We

49:54

have absolutely no idea. Maybe it was a

49:56

demon. Who knows? We don't know, but

49:58

it really happened. Ooh,

50:02

thank you Elizabeth. Well

50:05

that's not something you see every day. A

50:09

monstrous, tiny, pink creature,

50:12

ambling across the yard. Now

50:16

I do wish there was more of a description on this one.

50:20

As unique as that portrayal sounds, it

50:23

wasn't easy finding info on

50:25

a creature of that description. But

50:28

we did find something. It's

50:31

another first-hand encounter detailing a

50:34

very similar experience. This

50:36

time in my neck of the woods, just

50:39

up the road from us here in Southern California.

50:43

Caesar, please share your

50:45

tale. Hey

50:47

Derek, my name is Caesar. I'm calling you from the

50:49

Inland Empire. I wanted to let

50:51

you know about a story that happened

50:54

about six, seven months ago on my

50:56

way to China Lake in

50:58

Ridgecrest, California. So I

51:01

was traveling around the 395, just

51:03

past Kramer Junction,

51:05

about 40 miles

51:08

into it. When I

51:11

noticed a small, maybe

51:13

two and a half, three

51:15

feet tall, naked

51:18

mole rat looking type of animal, maybe

51:20

an animal, I don't know what it

51:22

was. Then ran from

51:25

my left to the right of the car.

51:28

And when I noticed it, halfway

51:31

through, this thing was walking two

51:33

feet. I

51:35

keep thinking about it. I don't know.

51:37

I Googled, see what it was. The

51:40

closest thing I could think of is like a naked mole

51:42

rat. But this thing was,

51:44

you know, pretty big and

51:47

running on two feet. Now

51:49

I know the government has secrets up there, but

51:53

yeah, I mean, been thinking about it ever

51:55

since I've seen it. Can't stop thinking about

51:57

it. Love you. Show

51:59

man. Thanks, Paul. Thank

52:03

you, Caesar. I told you

52:05

the two were similar. Eerily.

52:08

Similar, in fact. Both

52:10

describe the creature as pinkish and hairless. Both

52:14

describe it as three feet tall. Although

52:17

Elizabeth doesn't say it outright. I

52:19

get the impression that both were my beetle

52:22

as well. So

52:25

it sounds like an elf or an alien. Maybe

52:28

one of these little folk that people report

52:30

from time to time. But

52:33

let's not get ahead of ourselves. After

52:36

all, Occam's Razor does suggest that this is

52:38

likely some known animal with a skin condition

52:41

that caused it to appear

52:43

hairless and pink. A

52:47

raccoon or a young bear come to mind. Both

52:50

animals can walk upright and they can

52:52

both be found in either Kansas or

52:54

California. And Elizabeth

52:56

even alluded to her creature having bear-like

52:59

ears. And as

53:01

we've explored in past episodes, there

53:03

are skin disorders, such as

53:05

mange, that could cause an animal

53:08

to lose its entire coat. Now

53:11

I'd link to the story of Eve, a

53:13

California black bear that was found with mange

53:15

that caused her to go completely bald. There's

53:18

plenty of imagery there to contrast and

53:20

compare. And I

53:23

threw a hairless raccoon image. Two

53:25

in there as well, for good measure. Proof

53:28

that animals in that condition do exist. And

53:31

kind of giving you a glimpse of what they might look like.

53:37

But as much as some may want this to be

53:39

the truth, it doesn't sound

53:41

like it is. Both descriptions

53:43

say that this creature is more human-like

53:46

than any bear or raccoon. I

53:49

feel like either would have described it as an

53:51

animal without hair. Rather than

53:53

some strange unknown creature. So

53:58

we searched up and down for some sort of... to

54:00

these two calls, and

54:02

I'll send it to the appearance of the strange

54:04

being. There didn't seem

54:06

to be any. Except

54:09

for this one small detail. Both

54:12

sightings took place less than 75

54:14

miles from an active military base.

54:17

In Elizabeth's case, Hope, Kansas

54:19

is just over an hour's drive from McConnell

54:22

Air Force Base, in

54:24

the area between Ridgecrest and China Lake

54:26

in Caesar's story. A

54:28

section of road I know all too well. Well,

54:31

that stretch is very close to both Edwards

54:33

Air Force Base and the

54:35

Naval Air Weapons Station over

54:37

in China Lake. And

54:40

it's also worth mentioning that there have

54:42

long been rumors of Sasquatch-like creatures infiltrating

54:45

subterranean tunnels beneath Edwards.

54:49

One story even tells of a night guard

54:51

knocked unconscious by one of these brutes. Rifle

54:54

barrel bent in half. We'll

54:59

talk about that story more in a later date. But

55:02

despite these exciting and loose

55:04

connections, the

55:07

similarities fizzle out from there. But

55:10

I did find a little something that might at least

55:13

make Elizabeth feel a little better. Nothing

55:16

that this strange thing isn't still out there,

55:18

but in that she's not the only one that has

55:20

seen it. I

55:22

managed to find two other first-hand accounts from

55:25

that generous area of the East

55:27

Sunflower State. The

55:29

first comes to us via the Kansas

55:31

subreddit. I

55:35

don't know what I saw and I'm not claiming cryptid, but

55:38

several years ago in suburban South Kansas

55:40

City, I went to my

55:42

backyard at twilight to see some kind of animal

55:44

hurrying away from me, exiting

55:46

the back corner through a series of pine bushes.

55:49

It was moving on two feet, was about

55:52

three feet tall, and distinctly looked back at

55:54

me over a shoulder and bared its teeth.

55:57

I stood dumbfounded and it repeated

55:59

the same thing. look once it cleared the line of

56:01

bushes. My impression was

56:04

of intelligence and that it was watching

56:06

its back trail to see if I was

56:08

following. The overall impression

56:10

was of a large monkey, a brown

56:13

humanoid, perian gate. We

56:15

have raccoon and it was twice the size of

56:17

the largest raccoon I've ever seen. It

56:20

never dropped the four legs at any point. I

56:23

distinctly remember the upper limbs being arm-like.

56:25

I highlighted when it twisted

56:27

its torso to look back at me over its

56:29

shoulder. The thing

56:31

that sticks with me sincerely was

56:34

the intelligence and its glare. And

56:38

then there was this report which was

56:40

submitted to the Facebook group, Kansas Cryptids

56:42

and Strange Critters on

56:45

February 12th, 2022. I saw a two-legged something

56:51

weird dash across 281 in between

56:54

US 50 and Prath. It

56:56

was twilight and I'm thinking it was most likely

56:58

a pheasant that looked very different from

57:01

the twilight. Whether light and

57:03

shadow, eyes playing tricks or

57:05

whatever, it looked like Gollum ran across

57:07

the road. Let

57:09

me provide greater detail to provide accurate

57:12

context. The time was approximately

57:14

5 to 10 minutes after

57:16

sunset. I was approximately 5

57:18

miles north of Luca, heading south.

57:21

It was nearly autumn. The sky was mostly

57:23

clear with maybe 10% or less cloud cover.

57:26

Approximately 7 to 8 car lengths ahead

57:28

of me I saw something that appeared pale,

57:31

my beetle, and around 9 or 10 inches

57:33

tall, dashed across the road from the

57:35

east to the west. Its

57:37

head appeared to be disproportionately

57:39

large. As I passed the point

57:42

I saw nothing in the west side to make the

57:44

nature feel. I

57:47

don't know. Every neck pheasant

57:49

doesn't look anything like how I imagine

57:51

Gollum to look. I

57:54

don't care how dark it is. Of

57:57

course only one of these skulls mentioned the pale skin of

57:59

the creature. and

58:02

neither touch on the baldness but

58:05

they did describe a short human-like

58:07

biped in the eastern part of Kansas

58:13

once is an accident twice

58:16

is a coincidence three

58:18

times on that there is

58:21

a better unfortunately

58:25

this is where the data points end at

58:27

least for now so

58:30

if you have some information you'd like to contribute to

58:32

this mystery maybe

58:36

with some closure for Elizabeth and

58:38

maybe some disclosure until

58:48

then big thanks to each

58:50

of those callers for sharing their entries I love

58:53

stories like these especially

58:55

one of them takes place just up

58:58

the road spooky

59:01

stretch of road I might add both

59:03

in atmosphere and in

59:05

traffic safety well

1:01:20

Well, speaking of sketchy traffic, tonight's

1:01:23

secret entry highlights highway hijinks

1:01:25

of the highest order. Please

1:01:29

welcome this anonymous caller from

1:01:32

the state of Iowa. Hey,

1:01:34

Derek. This is your anonymous

1:01:37

caller from Iowa. It's

1:01:40

8 15 on May 17th

1:01:42

right now. I'm driving

1:01:44

in Iowa City. I

1:01:47

was just on a street. I was

1:01:49

turning left at an intersection and

1:01:51

like there were maybe three cars ahead of me

1:01:53

in the left turning lane. I'm

1:01:56

sorry. I'm very flustered right now. I don't

1:01:58

know how to explain what just happened. three

1:02:00

cars in front of me in the left turn lane and

1:02:03

they all turned ahead of me and then my green

1:02:07

arrow turned off it went just to the

1:02:09

green light so I had to wait for

1:02:11

several cars to go past me before I

1:02:13

could turn left and a

1:02:15

couple of cars turned right and I had

1:02:18

to wait for them to turn right down

1:02:20

the same road that I was turning onto

1:02:23

and I don't know how I

1:02:26

lost sight of these cars they were all

1:02:29

right in front of me but by

1:02:31

the time I had turned left I

1:02:33

guess I had blinked or something because

1:02:35

the entire road ahead of me was

1:02:38

completely clear there were no other cars

1:02:40

on the road it's a little

1:02:42

rainy at the moment uh it's so the

1:02:44

the sky's a little bit dark but the

1:02:46

sun hasn't completely set and you can see

1:02:48

it kind of off into the horizon so

1:02:50

it's like it's light outside I know those

1:02:53

cars turned ahead of me they should have been

1:02:55

right there on the road I don't know how

1:02:57

to explain what happened or how I lost sight

1:02:59

of them at all and I'm

1:03:01

I'm just very confused but

1:03:03

yeah I wanted to let you know because

1:03:05

that doesn't seem like something

1:03:07

that should have happened uh

1:03:10

once again thank you for your podcast

1:03:12

I look forward to to the drops

1:03:15

every every week yeah have a good

1:03:17

one thanks

1:03:22

caller you know every

1:03:24

time I hit the road I wish there was some cars

1:03:26

that would simply disappear especially

1:03:29

those hanging out in the fast lane but

1:03:34

as for the caller's story here maybe

1:03:36

they all turned off suddenly maybe

1:03:38

they pulled a ue and

1:03:41

she simply missed it or

1:03:44

maybe she had an encounter with ghost

1:03:46

cars however you

1:03:48

would like to explain it may

1:03:51

really appreciate the entry and

1:03:55

let that be your latest reminder to

1:03:58

go out and get yourself a dash can.

1:04:02

And if anything happens, be sure to send me

1:04:04

the footage. Now

1:04:09

folks, this is where we slip beneath the waves and

1:04:12

float into the beyond. The

1:04:15

1:04:17

Tom's out of

1:04:45

Texas. Hey

1:04:48

Derek, this is Tom in

1:04:51

San Antonio, Texas. Just

1:04:53

finished your most recent Patreon

1:04:55

episode with the kind of

1:04:58

reverse doppelganger story. And

1:05:00

you said at the end of it,

1:05:02

you know, it kind of demystifies the

1:05:04

doppelganger when you realize it's just someone

1:05:07

else's mistake or their inability to recognize

1:05:09

someone. Well, I have a little

1:05:11

bit different take on that story. This

1:05:14

happened in 1984.
