71. Picture a college athlete who’s at the peak of their athletic career. They’ve trained their whole life to be the best at their sport, but once they graduate college their athletic career comes to an end. They are no longer part of a team, and are no longer training for a specific goal. Think about what a huge identity shift that has to be. Ngozi experienced this first hand once she graduated from Harvard and was no longer training for track & field. She moved to NYC for a corporate job in the beauty industry where she struggled to discover who she is aside from sports. As if navigating your 20’s in a brand new city isn’t tough enough, she found herself struggling with her mental health, confidence and body image causing her to leave the city and go home. Ngozi shares how her healing journey led to helping other active women through her podcast, Aesthetics and Athletics, where she interviewed Professional Athletes, Sports Psychologists, Coaches, Olympians, and Social Activists. She moved to Austin, Texas she started a female run community, Your Mothers Run Crew, as a way to connect active women and train for Marathons.
