0:25

Hey everybody, and welcome to the

0:29

miniest Wednesday crush April

0:32

Fools Reveal a dish. It's

0:35

me. I'm by myself. Actually I'm with Ramsey,

0:38

but it's just me in here talking to you

0:40

to say happy April Fools Day. Um,

0:44

Christopher Walkin did not join me everybody

0:47

to record. I know most of you know this.

0:50

Some of you are probably very disappointed right now,

0:53

but we had to. We couldn't let this thing

0:55

go on any longer. So we thought a

0:57

fun way to do this would be to let you hear some of the

0:59

outtakes. Uh. Here's how this went

1:01

down, and um, we're all

1:03

very excited about the result. By the

1:05

way. Uh, it went over better than

1:07

we could have ever expected. What we really wanted

1:09

out of this was a lot of

1:12

fun. We wanted people on the

1:14

Facebook page debating the

1:16

validity of this that

1:18

happened. We wanted to fool some people

1:20

that happened. Uh. We wanted

1:23

people to not be fooled and to sniff it

1:25

out that happened. Um,

1:28

and we wanted people to say things

1:30

like, you know what, I don't care if it's real

1:32

or not. This is a lot of fun to listen to

1:34

and it's fun to speculate and get

1:36

online and debate with one another. Um.

1:39

Heck, you guys even got on the movie Crushers and made

1:41

a poll out of this on whether

1:43

it was real or not, and that just allowed

1:46

me to no end. So we had a lot, a lot of

1:48

fun. Um. Yes, we did

1:50

set this up weeks and weeks and weeks ago

1:52

with the false plant of a huge guest. Yes,

1:55

I did go to Los Angeles to the Hollywood studio,

1:58

um, kind of largely for

2:01

this so I could sit down with

2:04

the great Kevin Pollock. Everybody, most

2:06

of you figured out that it was Kevin.

2:09

Um. I know there were some raws

2:11

Marquan uh guesses in

2:13

there as well. Both of those make a lot of

2:15

sense. But Kevin is a pal and he

2:18

agreed to do this. And I gotta say I

2:20

have not had much more fun in my recording

2:22

career than sitting down across

2:24

from one of the great improvisers

2:26

of our time and seeing him

2:29

go into Christopher Walking mode in

2:31

front of my very eyeballs. Uh.

2:33

It was funny and creepy,

2:36

Like he really goes there. Everybody, he

2:38

he becomes Christopher Walking, And

2:41

that is how you were able to improvise

2:43

for an hour as someone else, like

2:46

you have to go into autopilot

2:48

basically on the voice to be able

2:51

to be believable. And we decided the

2:53

best way to do this was to play it straight, not make it

2:55

too jokey, not go over the top with

2:57

the walking nous of it. Um.

3:00

He veered close to the edge a couple of times,

3:02

and that was some of the giveaway, but that was also

3:04

part of the fun, with the fake noses at the end

3:07

and some of the things he said, like, you

3:09

know, people actually listen to this podcast and

3:12

not knowing what a podcast was or who David

3:14

Spade was. And Kevin and I were texting

3:16

all day yesterday when this was

3:18

released and just having a good time, or

3:21

on Monday rather having a good time with each other.

3:24

Um, he listened to it while he was waiting on a plane

3:26

and just like texting me and we

3:28

were both referring to himself in the third person,

3:30

like he kept saying this, and he kept saying

3:32

that that's out into this he gets as Christopher

3:35

Walkin becomes another person entirely. But

3:37

uh man, we had so much fun and thank you

3:40

for taking part. Um. We

3:42

dropped it on April one. I mean, there's no way

3:44

getting around the obviousness of that, but

3:47

it was a lot of fun to do. UH,

3:49

so, big, big, big thanks to Kevin

3:51

Pollock everybody so talented and

3:53

so generous and gracious. UM

3:56

follow him on Twitter, it's always

3:58

fun. And definitely check out Alchemy the US

4:00

his really really wonderful improv

4:02

show. And I noticed the Alchemy fans were

4:04

some of the first people to sniff this out thanks

4:07

to his use of the word per

4:09

se, which he does on Alchemy This

4:11

a lot. So that was a bit of a giveaway too, but it

4:13

was all fun, had such a good

4:15

time. I also want to give out huge, huge thanks

4:18

to uh Nolan Ramsey for being

4:20

a part of this over the last few weeks. And

4:22

a big, big heaping thanks

4:24

to our old bud in Kansas, Aaron

4:26

Cooper, our photoshop master, who

4:29

who created the Phase two

4:31

plan, which is to drop an

4:34

afternoon photoshop of me and Christopher

4:36

walkin standing there turns

4:39

out what was like an airport somewhere

4:41

in Canada, and um,

4:43

we kind of left most of the comments up because

4:45

it's fun to see people debate back and forth. UH.

4:48

If you got your comment deleted, by the way,

4:50

it was for a couple of reasons. Um

4:53

One, there was a gentleman who

4:55

kind of just went down the list of

4:58

people speculating and commenting

5:00

on everyone's post saying it

5:02

was Kevin Pollock by the way. So

5:05

I deleted that guy because that's just no fun.

5:08

It's fun to let people guess and think about

5:10

it, not say figured it out.

5:12

And then a bunch of dudes. I don't think any ladies,

5:15

it's funny how that works. Found

5:17

on literally like page twenty

5:19

of Google images. This Twitter photo

5:21

of this dude at the airport with Christopher

5:24

walking was the only believable picture

5:26

I could find of Christopher walking in the wild with

5:28

a fan. And I think Coop did a really

5:30

good job on the photoshop by the way. It wasn't perfect,

5:32

but hey, he did the best he could in like thirty

5:34

minutes. But dudes

5:37

that posted oh I found it. I found

5:39

it the original picture and posted

5:41

that, and I took those down either, because that's

5:43

no fun anyway, Get with it, guys, you

5:46

gotta ruin it for everyone. Uh

5:48

So that aside, it was a lot of fun for everybody.

5:51

It was just a really, really fun day in the office for

5:53

everyone to be following this stuff, so big

5:56

thanks to them, and also big thanks to Christopher Walking.

5:58

I doubt if this got back to you, um

6:00

uh in any way, but if it did, I hope he gets

6:02

a laugh out of it one day. Um. And I doubt

6:05

even knows what a podcast is. That part is probably

6:07

true. So what I thought we'd do was play you some

6:09

of the outtakes right now. Um.

6:11

I was able to maintain my composure for most

6:13

of the show, but there were times where I just cut,

6:15

could not help but crack up. Um.

6:18

And I'm you know what, I'm also going to give myself a little pat

6:20

on the back for what I think I did a pretty

6:22

good job as a straight man, playing nervous

6:25

and setting this whole thing up. So pats

6:27

on the back all around. Uh. And here

6:29

we go with a few of the outtakes from the session. When

6:36

the scene starts, our pants are undone.

6:39

Well that's true.

6:49

Oh

6:58

I'm not. I don't mean to say it all the way

7:00

but she might have. Well

7:03

I certainly don't remember him,

7:07

but we are sorry.

7:16

I knew I wasn't gonna make it all the way through. All

7:18

right, let's pick it up.

7:32

I have that same drill because

7:34

it's the ultimate cowardice, right for

7:36

a man of strinka woman. So you

7:39

know, it's a little on the nose to me in

7:42

terms of this is a bad guy. How do you know?

7:44

Well, he hit a woman. You

7:46

know that's I don't think you've ever done.

7:49

That's painfully obvious. I've

7:51

played social paths and psychopaths,

7:53

so chances are my characters could have hidden

7:56

you know, anybody a child

8:00

of takes. But sorry,

8:11

all right, I

8:17

once punched a baby in the face. Okay,

8:23

don't let me blow my des Okay,

8:28

pick it up after a hit a child

8:31

lunatic. I

8:35

mean, look, sometimes a baby

8:37

will look

8:43

at you in a certain way and you kids

8:45

gotta come and pick it up. Like

8:49

Chris Penn's character, at one point, I

8:51

thought, can he even walk right?

8:55

He's trying. He's gonna have trouble walking home.

8:57

This kid. He can't put one ft in front of the other.

9:01

Yeah, he was. Oh. My

9:03

other favorite part was the tractor hold

9:05

on. Pick that up? But have

9:08

you ever done it before? Or is this the only time

9:11

I think this? Is it? Wow?

9:13

That means a lot? Well,

9:16

I hope so. Because I had

9:18

a few lunch opportunities. You

9:27

should totally say that pick it up celebrity

9:29

voice is impersonating. All

9:39

right, everyone, hope you enjoyed that. The Alt takes for

9:41

fun and this is a really fun episode. I'm

9:43

already cooking up something for next

9:46

April, so um,

9:48

just just look out for that. I'm not sure what I'm

9:50

gonna do already. I went so big this year.

9:53

I'm really gonna have to put a lot of thought into,

9:55

uh how to how to top that one?

9:57

But I've already got some ideas brewing. So um, hold

10:00

onto your hats. So thanks for listening to everybody,

10:02

and I hope you enjoyed it and just

10:05

get on with the rest of your week already
