Director of External Affairs, Michael Coleman reminded us that every month is donor awareness month considering the need for organ and tissue donation, especially in black and brown communities. Black patients account for nearly 10% of those on the transplant waiting list in California. Considering that we make up 6% of California’s population, those are staggering numbers. The need for African American organ, eye and tissue donors is vital.

We also address the myths that may be barriers to donation as well as Sierra’s partnership with the Department of Motor Vehicles.
