This Podcast we chat with Chad Bracklesberg who serves as the Executive Director for the Utah Avalanche Center. The Utah Avy Center works in collaboration with the National Weather Service and the US Forest Service to keep us safe in the Backcountry.
With the growth of Backcountry skiing comes a more united sense of community and skiing, hiking, and boarding the great beyond but it also increases the sense of risk. In 2017, we have a vast number resources available to educate ourselves and our backcountry partners to keep us safe. The UAC as some of the most brilliant minds in Outdoor Recreation available including forecasters, educators, and community partners to distribute knowledge to the snow community. Getting out in the Backcountry brings a sense of peace and a whole new way to discover yourself and your abilities but it is a responsibility to the outdoor practitioner to get the knowledge they need to keep themselves and their partners safe. While this activity is very enjoyable, it can also be very dangerous and should be respected. The UAC offers a wide variety of educational platforms. On this Podcast we give an overview of the UAC and different ways to get involved and educate yourself. We cover a lot of ground here and this is certainly not a substitute for getting your first turns in past resorts.
