======================.
Brian Pekarcik is the owner operator disruptor and head chef of a successful restaurant venture, S & P Group, in the city of Pittsburgh. He and Hoon sit down together and talk beyond the restaurant industry and what he has learned over the years. Sharing his experiences as a young college kid trying to break into the industry, Brian talks candidly about his career decisions, his trials and tribulations as a cook, his volunteering stint at a homeless shelter, meeting his wife, benefits of cold calling, proper mindset for success, minding finances and making prudent decisions in and out of the workplace.
In the second half of the podcast, recorded 8 months after the first part (you'll find out why in the podcast), he talks about sensitive topics with aplomb: the prevalent use of drugs in the restaurant industry, building community within an organization of 200 people, the changing landscape of a growing food scene in a growing city, working alongside food critics, and solid, applicable advice not just for people in the food industry, but for everyone looking to improve their lives.
Enjoy. And keep on disrupting. Fearlessly.
