Shanda Sharer was a 12 year old girl in 1992 living in New Albany, IN when she met a girl in detention named Amanda. The two became best friends. Amanda's girlfriend Melinda (16) hated Shanda and their blossoming friendship and came up with a plan to scare Shanda, who she secretly had a crush on.

She enlisted the help of 3 girls, Toni, Laurie, and Hope and kidnapped Shanda under the ruse of taking her to see Amanda.

January 11, 1992, hunters found a body wrapped in a burnt blanket.
