One of the side effects of the events in Charlottsville is the cry to tear down monuments of George Washington in Chicago and to have Mount Rushmore blown to bits. But what does erasing our past do to democracy? Neighbors Again is raising money for Life After Hate, an organization that helps people leave the White Power movement, and will hopefully raise enough to support the Domestic Abuse Hotline, Chicago Citywide Literacy Coalition, and Straight Up Boxing (a nonprofit I work with that trains kids to change their lives through sport regardless of their ability to pay). The shirts are $25 or 2 for $40, and hopefullly will sell well enough to make a decent donation to all four organizations. The store isn't up yet, but will be later today (Friday, August 18th).
