ChemSystems, which was established 60 years ago, is a core part of the AECI group which celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, and is a well-established business within the AECI group with manufacturing operations at Chloorkop and Umbogintwini. It focuses on five sectors - Industrial and Mining, Paper and Leather, Consumer Specialties, Construction and Refractory and Foundry and Timber Board.

CEO Hugo Basson qualified with a BSc in chemistry at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and, later, an MBL from Unisa. He was appointed managing director of ChemSystems in January 2016.
