After working in the profession at Deloitte and Gobodo, accountant Phakamile Mainganya served as the Group Credit Executive at Nedbank before taking on the challenge of Chief Risk Officer at South Africa's Industrial Development Corporation.

Established in 1940 by an Act of Parliament, the IDC is South Africa's national development finance institution set up to promote economic growth and industrial development. It is owned by the South African government under the supervision of the Economic Development Department. Its mandate is to contribute to the creation of balanced, sustainable economic growth in South Africa and on the rest of the continent.
