On this episode of The New American Media Podcast, In celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, I had the pleasure of interviewing Heoak Lee, Founder & Executive Director of InWave Movement and KoreaFest. She and her family emigrated to the states in 1974 when she was 9 by way of her aunt who was a Korean war bride.
Her family worked hard to provide for her and her brother. She grew up in Virginia and went to George Mason University. She held several jobs in different industries. She learned Tae Kwon Do and traditional Korean dance. She also taught it and has a traditional Korean dance group called "Imperial Jewel". (we have video and pics of all of this)
She's also married to Tae Kwon Do Master Jun Lee of the famous Lee brothers. She started KoreaFest in 2017 and has garnered national and global attention as well as physical attendance of over 5,000 people to her event.
