When we give ourselves some time every day to feel like “our true selves” - be it through exercise, meditation, singing, laughing, being grateful or playing with your favorite human or pet, we can compare how we feel in our daily routine versus how we feel when we are in our hearts (i.e being our true selves). We experience the contrast between tension and relaxation and we learn to discern how relaxed we want to be while we go about our day. You can completely change your daily way of life - little by little by spending more time in the modes that feel more fun. I used to be very intense throughout my day - even if I was just cleaning up a counter...with time I learned to turn down my intensity and focus more on my breathing when performing tasks that truly don’t call for such intensity.
