New Theory Radio is Back Again!
Presented by PAMA (Peel Art Gallery Museum and Archives)

PAMA is actually a big part of this week's episode as host Nav Nanwa talks about the Gallery's new exhibit 'When Night Stirred At Sea’. This exhibit is in partnership with Caribbean Art Fair (cArt), The Black Artist Network in Dialogue (BAND) and guest curators Karen Carter and Greg Manuel. It begins virtually on Thursday, October 29th.

It will bring together works by several English Caribbean artists to reflect on the breadth of contemporary aesthetic practices within the broader Caribbean community. Joining Nav to talk about this further are well-known photographers Janice Reid and Christina Leslie, as well as PAMA’s Rene Nand and Sharona Clements. They discuss how this exhibit came to be, it’s relevance to the Peel Community, and what kind of doors it will open for Black artists.

And then we switch gears to talk about Halloween. This occasion is coming up but is obviously different this year because of the pandemic. But that's not stopping people from getting into the spirt , as a lot of people are choosing to celebrate via movie marathons. Joining Nav to talk about underrated Halloween-themed movies is Film Critic and New Theory Alum Amanda Guarragi and from moviesmatrix.com- contributing writer AJ Fairnot. They also digress and talk about Tim Burton's 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and whether it's actually a Halloween movie or a Christmas movie?
