NewbQuest: Learn Indie Game Development

Welcome to the NewbQuest podcast with Matt MirrorFish! On the show we interview game developers of all types including game designers, programmers, artists and sound designers. The goal of the show is to provide a look inside the process for people who are new to game development and want to learn how to make video games. The primary focus of the show is on people making indie games. The definition of indie games can be broad but we're using the term to mean small projects, not a lot of outside money and a passionate artistic vision. The indie game scene has grown tremendously over the past few years and more and more indie devs are getting interested in how to create indie games and how to make video games in general. On the show we'll talk about issues including how big or small to make your first projects, collaborating with programmers and artists, how to choose between tools like Unity 3D, Game Maker, Mono Game, Flash and many others. There's an incredible amount of tutorial information online about how to make games and so the focus here is less about step by step instructions and more on hearing stories from people who are making games so that we can get some ideas and inspiration for our own projects.I'm Matt Mirrorfish and I've been learning to make games for about a year and a half now. I'm loving the process and I just love talking about game development with people who know more than I do and learning first hand from their experience. By recording these conversations and making them available, hopefully I can help you to learn more and get involved yourself!
