Wow, what

0:11

is up? Welcome to another edition

0:13

of the NFL Fantasy Live Podcast, speaking

0:15

man MG Marcus Grant alongside the Fantasy

0:17

Hall of Famer Michael Fabiano and our man Graham

0:20

Barfield. And uh, happy super

0:23

Bowl Week guys. Yeah. Man, it's

0:25

apparently it's kind of cold in Atlanta right now.

0:28

Little little I see this whole polar

0:30

vortex. California is just like L O L

0:32

right now pretty much. Although we are going to

0:34

get rain again, that's

0:36

just me being spoiled when it comes to weather.

0:39

Enough with the rain yesterday it was like seventy

0:41

degrees or whatever. Um, you know, I

0:43

I I still I still keep in touch with

0:45

ar Old pal Alex Gelhar, Who's you know back

0:48

in they

0:50

are they are locked in basically, you know, he's

0:52

he is back in law school in Wisconsin.

0:55

Classes have been canceled for a few days.

0:57

And uh, he actually sent us he's

1:00

was a copy of the like

1:02

the memo, the warning that they sent out

1:05

and I mean they're expecting temperatures to get to like

1:07

below forty blow fifty whatever. It

1:09

was like like the the one of

1:11

the sentences was do not go

1:13

outside under any circumstances or something.

1:15

Like that. We're like, well, what do you have a dog? Like, what

1:18

do you do know? I know the dog

1:20

has to go outside and pee. It probably comes out frozen.

1:22

It's like a planet off man. I have a I have a

1:24

friend who lives outside of Minneapolis, and he sent

1:26

me a screenshot. It's the same temperature

1:28

in Minneapolis, or it was last night, the same temperature

1:31

Minneapolis as it was in Antarctica. That's cold.

1:34

Negative, that is cold. I guess

1:36

I shouldn't be complaining about rain. Then I could say in the

1:38

meantime, it's uh. I believe as we record

1:40

this podcast, it is currently fifty eight degrees with

1:42

the expected high of about seventy

1:44

How many people across the country listen to that and just

1:46

screen f you? I'm sure? Which

1:49

is which is part of the reason I say it at their podcast?

1:51

Really, I one less. I have a

1:54

really good friend who lives in Syracuse, New York, and

1:56

he right, it's pretty bad.

1:58

I remember a couple of years ago it was like March

2:00

and he sent me a text message

2:02

is like a photo of his front lawn and there was still

2:04

snow on the front lawn. It's terrible. I'm like, yeah,

2:07

I feel you had to put on socks in my apartment. That

2:10

that was met with a whole bunch of X. Yeah.

2:13

Behind the glass. Our normal guy Eddie

2:15

is off this week. He's helping out

2:18

with all the super Bowl preparations. But we

2:20

are very excited to have Kent Brown sitting

2:22

back in with us again. Ki. How you doing him? Man? I'm doing

2:24

well, guys. I'm with you in terms of warm

2:27

weather is nice. My twin brothers an elementary

2:29

teacher in Pittsburgh. They're off the next

2:31

two days because of all the bad weather. Wait, there's

2:33

two of you out. There's two brother

2:37

a w W freak like you. Oh definitely.

2:40

What did you think of the rumble? I enjoyed

2:42

it. I thought it was fun. I thought Rawlins and Becky

2:44

would both win, so there was nothing too surprising.

2:47

It was a good time. The rumble is always fun. I

2:49

think they probably could slim it down to like

2:51

four hours instead of like seven like they're

2:53

doing. He's

2:56

gotta he's gotta take the title off of Brock,

2:58

right, I think so? I think so

3:00

so telling me royal rumbles as long as super Bowl

3:02

pregame, like I mean,

3:05

so, they say it's like mania and then SummerSlam,

3:07

but Royal Rumble's right up there with one of the most popular.

3:10

Well, pay per views? Does that even count

3:12

anywhere? Is it pay per view? Now? I mean, I guess

3:14

it is because you have to stay for w w E

3:16

network, but not in the traditional sense

3:19

of it. Sure, my

3:21

brother a hard time yesterday because I went golfing

3:23

after work today. I got I

3:25

got out of work at about two thirty and went golfing

3:28

and sent him some pictures and he was like, yeah, I'm stuck

3:30

in my house. So I'm with Marcus. We just

3:32

were doubling down on just making people hate

3:34

us pretty much. Pretty much. Well, you

3:36

know who hates Los Angeles and southern

3:38

California in particular the people in

3:40

Massachusetts. I gonna say Saints fans. Well,

3:42

no, I mean that because think

3:45

about it, because the Red Sox. Oh,

3:47

by the way, one of my worst nightmares

3:49

came true this week. So I coach

3:52

Matthew's baseball team and they

3:54

are the son of a

3:58

and so I coached the team and I

4:00

told him, I'm like, dude, i am not wearing

4:02

a Red Sox hat. I will not wear a Red Sox.

4:04

I'm not wearing anything red Sox. I won't look,

4:07

I won't do it. I normally won't. I normally

4:09

wouldn't advocate this, but I will give you

4:11

an out. You can go over

4:14

to u c l A And get

4:16

like a dark blue because there, because

4:19

it's the local, you

4:23

can you can go there, get one of those,

4:26

tell people that you know it's it's actually

4:28

a U c l A hat, and you know what to like.

4:30

One of the guys who runs the league

4:33

draw, Dave Kenny, is a good dude. I told

4:35

him a few weeks ago. I was like, I'm

4:37

not gonna end up with the Red Sox, right, there's

4:40

eight teams. You got a one in eight shots. I

4:42

go in and we find out where Matthew

4:44

goes and he looked at me and

4:46

I said, son of a it's the Red

4:48

Sox rolled snake guys.

4:51

That is funny. That's awful. But

4:53

we got awful. We got some stuff to talk about

4:55

today. We will do some DFS

4:58

stuff for you folks still playing, because rumor

5:00

has it there is one more game to be played in the National

5:02

Football League this season, so we'll talk a little

5:04

bit about that. We're going on our top Super

5:07

Bowl commercials because I mean that's why we really

5:09

watched the Super Bowl, right is to be sold things.

5:11

So we'll talk about some of the best

5:13

ones that we remember. But first let's

5:15

do some news.

5:30

The big news coming out of our nation's

5:32

capital. The Redskins

5:34

believe that Alex Smith, who suffered

5:37

a horrible leg injury last season,

5:40

will miss all of twenty nineteen.

5:43

Now, the reports originally were that

5:45

it was very bad. I mean, usually when a

5:47

guy gets injured and he has surgery, you immediately

5:49

here, well, you know, successful surgery

5:51

and expects to be back by training camp,

5:53

on the starter, preseason, what have you. We

5:56

didn't hear that with Alex Smith, and it was

5:58

it seemed like it was bad pretty much immediately.

6:00

And now, uh there's a strong belief

6:03

that he's going to miss all of nineteen.

6:06

Uh fabs, we saw this offense

6:08

really fall apart when Alex Smith

6:10

went out, and look, it wasn't totally him. I mean,

6:13

they had a lot of issues. They had injuries on the offensive

6:15

line or what have you. But if

6:17

they're scrambling at quarterback because they're paying Alex

6:19

Smith a lot of money so they don't have a ton of cap

6:21

room, they can't necessarily go out and spend big.

6:23

Maybe they draft somebody. But this

6:26

this turns everything sideways

6:28

in that offense. Yeah, I know it does. And I

6:30

mean, you know, the options are like Teddy

6:32

Bridgewater could be an option, Like Folds is

6:34

going to be out there. Any team that needs a quarterback,

6:37

Folds is going to be at the top of the wish list. Flacco

6:40

right could be potentially an option

6:43

as well. Right now, Colt McCoy's

6:45

under contract until twenty They're not going to

6:47

go into the season with Colt McCoy is their quarterback. At

6:49

least you would at least right

6:52

if you would guess, So, there's gonna

6:54

be some movement there. I don't know that there's a there's a quarterback

6:56

they're gonna be able to get in the draft that would come right in and

6:58

be able to start. So it

7:01

could be the Darius guys show there in twenty

7:03

Nights. That's what I was just thinking, is it's just like, are we

7:05

just gonna be picking guys and that's it from this team

7:07

in fantasy? Next year? Might be Yeah,

7:10

it could be. I mean, the Aleximouth

7:12

thing is so unfortunate, man like, because he had to go

7:14

like in a bunker for like three weeks. Did you see

7:16

that brace that he had on at the Wizard's game.

7:18

We didn't see any good until

7:21

he like basically after he broke his leg, until

7:23

he went to that to that game, right, Yeah,

7:25

I mean it's just it's it looked bad. It

7:27

apparently is bad. So certainly

7:29

wish him the best in his recovery. Would be great

7:31

to see him get back on the field, but it appears that

7:33

it will not be next season.

7:36

So um, yeah, you're right, it may just be a Darius

7:38

guys, and that's sort of it, which you know, it's unfortunate

7:41

Jordan Reid finally stayed healthy

7:43

even though he didn't really produce. Uh

7:45

the wide receiver situation. Yeah, like I

7:47

mean Jamison Crowd and he's Josh

7:50

Doxon. I mean, is it time

7:52

to use the B word on him? Uh, that's the first

7:55

round pick? Maybe, I mean, you

7:57

know, he's adding to the list of

8:00

recent first round wide receivers

8:02

um because you know, the last two or three

8:04

years, the first round wide receivers have not

8:06

done well generally speaking,

8:09

and maybe he may be adding to that list.

8:11

Uh. Staying there sort of in the Beltway and the

8:14

d M v if you will head into Baltimore.

8:17

John Harbaugh says he expects a

8:19

better Lamar Jackson in tween.

8:22

I mean, I know, Graham, that sort of seems

8:24

like, yeah, I mean, the guy's had a year

8:26

to kind of play and they le have an offseason to sort of get

8:28

better. But uh, you know, we

8:31

definitely saw flashes from him, and I think,

8:33

you know, if Lamar Jackson really does take

8:35

that next step, we talk about the

8:37

Redskins kind of regressing because Alex Smith

8:40

isn't necessarily there, I would expect the

8:42

Ravens offense per potentially gets a little

8:44

bit better if Lamar Jackson is able to

8:46

take that next step. One of the things that Baltimore

8:49

really I think enjoyed this year

8:51

in the terms of the difference between Flacco Lamar

8:53

Jackson's just what Lamar can do under pressure.

8:56

Um, he's a better pass he was a better pastor in terms

8:58

of his quarterback creating under pressure this year for

9:00

Pro Football focus. But obviously the big one is his

9:02

scrambling ability. So for me, I think

9:04

we're where Lamart needs to

9:06

get better is just I mean,

9:09

they have got to be able to run like one

9:12

or two progressions on second and eight

9:14

and be able to pick up the first like

9:16

like we saw it in that Chargers game when they got knocked

9:18

off their script. They failed.

9:21

When they can't run the ball fifty five sixty of

9:23

the time they fail. Uh. They have got

9:25

to find a way to get Lamar a little more comfortable

9:28

throwing outside the numbers, not just

9:30

throwing play action over the middle. Um,

9:32

They've got to add some layers to this passing

9:34

offense because they're gonna get figured out really really

9:36

quickly early next year because the Chargers built the

9:38

script, and Hardball said that, you know, Jackson is

9:40

going to throw a quote a lot in the off season.

9:43

Duh. But some of the numbers that he put

9:45

up as a runner, when

9:47

you also consider that he started what seven

9:49

games, I mean, ridiculous.

9:51

Uh, these were in my undred fifty fantasy

9:54

facts. He averaged seventeen

9:56

carries a game. He averaged eighty rushing

9:58

yards a game in his

10:00

seven starts. Projected over a full season, he rushes

10:02

for twelve yards, has two hundred seventy

10:04

two rushing attempts, and scores ten touchdowns, which,

10:07

just as a running back would have given a hundred

10:09

eighty seven fantasy points and that's standard

10:11

because we're not talking about catches essentially like a

10:13

low end RB one. Ridiculous. I

10:15

mean, that's kind of what it was. And he's like a low end RB

10:18

one. Of course. So you've

10:20

got you've got Lamar Jackson, You've got Baker.

10:22

Next season, those are going to be two of year, big breakout candidates,

10:24

just like Patrick Mahomes was this past season

10:27

in fantasy football. Who goes

10:29

first and or either one of these guys

10:31

in the top ten. I don't

10:33

know that either one is in the top ten. I think Baker

10:35

is closer to the top ten, probably than than

10:37

Lamar Jackson is going to be. Um.

10:41

Yeah, I mean I just think I think with what we saw from Baker

10:43

Mayfield and the fact that you know, he he gets to

10:45

stay in an offense that obviously he was

10:48

comfortable in last year, I think he's probably

10:50

of the two, the one that gets closer to the

10:53

top ten. I'm I don't know, and

10:55

I think that's that's the strategy

10:57

I'm going into drafts with. I Mean, I've always

10:59

gone weight on a quarterback, but

11:01

now, like I would not have any

11:03

problem going in the next season with Baker and Lamar

11:05

Jackson's by two quarterbacks. Yeah,

11:08

no, and no issue whatsoever. It's just it's

11:10

wild because quarterback depth is just insane.

11:12

It's so insane, it's it's crazy

11:14

insane. So I think, you know, it'll

11:16

be interesting to see where Lamar Jackson goes in

11:19

drafts. I mean, you know, you talk about all the things Graham

11:21

they need to do to kind of get that passing

11:23

game up to speed. I mean certainly, you know,

11:25

the knock on Lamar coming out of college

11:27

was his accuracy, and I think we saw that at times

11:29

this year. So if he can somehow work on that, you know,

11:31

I know, look, I am not a quarterback

11:34

guru. I know people say that, you

11:36

know, you can't get more at either you

11:38

have accuracy or you don't that you can't improve

11:41

it. I don't know, We'll see, uh, you know,

11:43

but I think this offseason is gonna be a big test for him

11:45

to see if he can get a little bit more accurate

11:47

throwing the football. Um,

11:50

the Eagles reportedly could be a

11:52

landing spot for Kareem Hunt. I know that's

11:55

the thing. Jimmy Kimsky from The Philly

11:57

Voice was saying that, you know, the the Eagles

11:59

could find a an he could could find a spot

12:01

for him in the offense. Uh fabs,

12:03

I know you probably like me. I'm I'm a

12:05

fan of anything that reduces the number

12:07

of running back committees in the National Football

12:09

League and makes things easier Kareem

12:12

Hunt in Philadelphia means

12:14

that that committee that drove us insane

12:16

all year long would probably be no more.

12:19

And I mean, maybe I'm crazy. I feel like he could be

12:22

sort of a version of what the Eagles had for

12:24

so many years with Lashawn McCoy is a guy who can

12:26

run it and catch it out of the backfield. Yeah.

12:28

Well, the first thing that we need to know is how

12:31

long is he going to be suspended? And you would think

12:33

that the NFL will come down with

12:36

that suspension at some point before

12:38

free agency begins, I would

12:40

think, But you know, we also know that

12:42

the NFL is they don't have to do that,

12:45

right, right, they don't have I mean we've seen them string

12:47

along people like you know how long they strung

12:49

along Josh Gordon a couple of years ago. So I mean we could

12:51

be waiting till week one almost, so, I

12:53

mean, you know, and the

12:56

whole situation, and it's that

12:58

that situation. I mean, let's

13:00

be honest, it was disgusting. The video that we saw

13:03

was disgusting. I don't know how long the suspension

13:05

is gonna be. I hate talking about fantasy football when

13:07

it pertains two situations like this, but that's sort of what

13:09

we have to do. And I

13:12

hate to say this because of the

13:14

situation, but Kareem

13:16

Hunt in Philadelphia is a really

13:19

good fit from a fantasy perspective, a

13:21

really good fit. So this

13:23

is a guy who, depending on how many games he

13:25

is forced to miss because of

13:27

the expected band, he

13:31

could end up being one of the better draft

13:33

bargains in fantasy football. And

13:35

I just I feel odds saying that because the

13:37

situation. But it is. He's

13:41

He's He's a very young,

13:43

up and coming running back who was

13:46

on pace to have another monster season

13:48

after putting up a monster season as a rookie.

13:51

And then you put him into Doug Peterson's

13:53

offense as the featured back, and

13:56

boy, the

13:58

sky's the limit. But it's an uncomfortable

14:01

situation. Yeah, yeah, it is. I mean

14:03

I think in a lot of ways, you know, Kareem

14:05

Hunt is sort of the I feel like these are all kind

14:07

of test cases for the league. He's sort of the new one

14:10

because he's, as you mentioned, he's a young

14:12

guy, only a couple of years into his career,

14:14

obviously extremely talented, and

14:17

you know, we know that as soon as it is

14:19

viable for teams to make a run at

14:21

him, teams were going to make a run at him.

14:24

Uh So, I just wonder, like how

14:26

long the suspension is going to be because z got

14:28

six games for allegations, right,

14:30

so we have video here,

14:34

Yeah, I know, is

14:37

it is it a full season ban? I don't know. Yeah,

14:40

I don't know. I I have no idea,

14:42

and that that's one thing we're gonna have to wait on. But you

14:44

know, for now, there's already talked that the

14:46

fact that there's already talked about him landing somewhere

14:49

suggests that Chicago has already been rumored too

14:52

well because of the which man

14:54

that would be from a perspective

14:57

which my football like, that's interesting because

14:59

I mean, look, maybe Jordan Howard's day

15:01

is there are numbered Obviously we saw him sort of phase

15:03

out of the offense. But you know, Tarik

15:05

Cohen a sort of cream hunt light. Um

15:09

so I don't that's man, Yeah,

15:11

I mean I think That's my thing though, is if he's

15:13

already, if we're already hearing these rumors in January

15:15

that Cream Hunt is reportedly going to sign

15:17

somewhere, that means he's gonna sign somewhere. He'll

15:19

sign somewhere. Oh, there's

15:22

no that. The difference between

15:24

him and ray Rice, Um, both

15:26

of both of their actions were disgusting. That

15:29

cost Ray Rice his career in the NFL.

15:32

Rod Rice was an older bat and

15:34

he he hadn't sort of you

15:36

know, Kareem Hunt. He's

15:40

three years old and in two

15:43

a year and a half in the league. I mean, he

15:45

was an incredibly successful

15:48

statistical player. So, uh,

15:51

I get it. It's you know, say

15:53

what you will, but the NFL is

15:55

it's the reality of the NFL. The NFL is

15:58

not going to let a talent to

16:00

player who's young like that go

16:03

unaccounted for. He is going to get

16:05

signed somewhere. Absolutely. Uh.

16:07

Some news out of Pittsburgh

16:10

Antnio Brown has reportedly

16:12

not closed the door on returning

16:14

to the Steelers. Um,

16:16

this is like a soap opera, man, It's like these of our

16:18

lives in Pittsburgh right now. It's it's gonna this is

16:20

gonna go all off season, Graham, I

16:23

mean at least until a decision is made, till

16:25

he's traded, until he comes back, what have you. This is

16:27

going to be the thing all off season. Um,

16:30

I mean, I guess

16:32

the question is if he comes back,

16:35

do they put everything aside? Is everything you know

16:37

good enough? When they get on the field, right, like

16:40

Ben still throwing the ball in his direction. They

16:42

I think we talked about this on the show a couple of weeks

16:45

ago. They have to bring him back, Like, what else are you gonna

16:47

do? Big Ben is eight

16:49

b is gonna be thirty one, thirty two this year.

16:52

Um, they owe him twenty million dollars. That have to just

16:54

swallow it. They have to find a way

16:56

to sit these two down, send him in a room

16:58

and figure it out. Because the Steeler

17:01

Super Bowl window is closing,

17:03

and when Big Bend retires, they'll have to

17:06

be in the same position as a lot of different teams with retiring

17:08

quarterbacks. Um, they gotta

17:10

keep Uju

17:13

was on Rap Sheets Podcast

17:16

Friends, Rap Sheet in Friends, and

17:19

Um he said, quote for me, it's more

17:21

like, let's keep the guys on the team and let's

17:23

win the Super Bowl. Let's stop all

17:25

the Bowl. What do you think thought

17:27

of the mass singer?

17:30

That's my that's my important question. You know what, I

17:33

don't think ju would have cared to me because

17:35

this is a guy who, you know, last offseason moved

17:37

into a giant mansion to play video games

17:39

all offseason. You know, So that's nice,

17:41

I don't. I mean, look, he's part of you know, he's part

17:44

of the Phase clan playing video

17:46

games and and this is his offseason thing. I

17:48

mean, it's more than a hobby at this point, it's like a side

17:50

gig for him. So I think when you move into

17:52

a mansion to play video games all off season

17:54

and be like, you know, a

17:56

teammate going on a

17:58

reality singing show or whatever. And I mean, you

18:00

know, Juju's uh net worth is going

18:03

to go up quite a bit when his contract comes

18:05

up. He's going to be making this presidents,

18:08

is it? I mean, listen, here's the thing. How

18:10

much of that is tied though, to Antonio Brown

18:12

sticking around and and this team being because

18:14

if if if Antonio Brown lead, that's

18:17

my thing. If Brown leaves and

18:19

look, and I love Juju dude a very

18:21

good player, but if he suddenly asked to carry

18:23

this offense. If he can't do it, then

18:26

that hurts. We do remember

18:29

my worky campaign when

18:32

a b went down at the end of the season. Juju's

18:34

numbers were just unreal good,

18:37

yo, and they're gonna throw it as

18:39

long as Big Ben is under Ju had

18:41

his big breakout because Levi but also had those

18:43

targets that were going to Levion Bell when

18:45

did this year and he's fantastic.

18:48

But I'm I'm with you, MG, like that's

18:50

my that's my thing is you take Antonio Brown

18:52

off the field literally one of the greatest

18:54

receivers of all time. I can't believe we even have to talk about

18:56

this, but like people are acting like

18:59

you're taken Tonio Brown off the field for the Steelers,

19:01

like they're just going to be able to roll with Juju is their

19:03

one and they'll have Ryan Switzer be there like

19:05

like you're

19:08

you're, You're I just don't know what their plan would

19:10

be. You're taking Tonio Brown off the field one Losing

19:12

Levon Bell is one thing. Running back and

19:15

then replacing his production is one thing, But losing

19:17

a Tony Brown as a whole. Speaking

19:20

of Juju, Smith Schuster suffered a me contusion

19:22

in the Pro Bowl. I know he says he's fine,

19:24

and chances are by the time we get to July,

19:27

it's not going to be a big deal. But why

19:30

are we still playing the Pro Bowl? I mean, like

19:32

why I have said for years, Look,

19:34

let's just name a Pro Bowl team. However

19:36

you want to do, you want to do, fan vote, you want to do, you know,

19:38

media vote, player vote, whatever, name your

19:40

Pro Bowl team. Let's give those guys

19:43

a bonus if you want to send them to Hawaii on

19:45

vacation, Hey, let's do it. But why

19:47

are we still playing? Bro? They have they have tried

19:49

everything, and that's something they

19:52

actually a few seasons ago, if you remember,

19:54

tried to incorporate a fantasy football drafted

19:57

right, which was awkward. Irvin was

19:59

draft in and Jerry Rice I think it was

20:01

really awkward to guys just kind of sitting there waiting

20:03

that getting picked, and like like it's it's

20:06

awkward enough during the actual draft, but now these

20:08

are guys like the All Stars, and they're like this

20:11

was like this was like when I did an event a few

20:13

years ago um in New York City for the NFL

20:15

and there was a draft going on and Rashad Jennings

20:18

was actually in the room

20:20

and it was like the tenth or eleventh round and

20:22

no one had draft, right, so

20:25

it's like, Okay, this is a little awkward.

20:27

Then they brought him up on stage with the Andrew Siciliano and

20:29

I think at some point then soonech drafted him.

20:31

But um, yeah, I just don't think

20:33

there's a good way to do it. It's just not

20:36

because they because the players are out

20:38

there not really competing. Um

20:41

you know, you're seeing guys run down field and kind

20:43

of you say, not really competing, they're walking right

20:47

Listen, I worked for the NFL. I don't want to make it

20:49

sound too bad, but there it

20:52

is what it's it. That's what it is. And I mean, heck,

20:54

you know what turned it into a glorified flag

20:57

football game. And here's here's

20:59

maybe the biggest issue with that actually

21:01

could be fun. Yeah you know,

21:03

I remember they remember, I don't know if you guys remember they played

21:05

like a beach uh and

21:07

and that's why who

21:11

had a great rookie season with the pacer just

21:14

blew up blood his knee never played again,

21:16

and then they got rid of it. I would say one

21:18

of the problems with the Pro Bowl is

21:21

you can't play it anywhere, but at the end of the season,

21:23

you're not gonna stop in the middle. There's no there's no natural

21:26

break in the middle of the season to play it like you have with

21:28

Major League Baseball or the NHL or the NBA,

21:30

where you stop in the middle of the season and you play. And so

21:33

part of the reason those games draw interest is because

21:35

there's still meaningful games to be played

21:37

after like now, like pretty

21:39

much all the meaningful games have been played.

21:41

And I think it was it might have been worse when

21:43

they played the Pro Bowl after the Super Bowl,

21:46

because that was like really, like really wide

21:48

do I care? At least now you still have one more

21:50

game that that sort of has some meaning. But you

21:53

know, I just I just don't know how to do it in

21:55

a way that that's right. And now you got you know, you always

21:57

the risk of guys hurt. At some point, you

21:59

know, once gambling potentially

22:02

becomes legalized, maybe you

22:04

factor into a fantasy football

22:06

scenario that you can throw in and couple

22:08

with the Pro Bowl where there are already there

22:11

already out there. Oh oh, I know,

22:13

I know, but like you know, it's like, you

22:15

know, it turned it into a big DFL.

22:17

I don't know, I don't know. It's it's hard

22:20

to h you can parlay the Pro Bowl into the super

22:22

Bowl. Now it's crazy Bowl. Yeah,

22:25

that is

22:27

wild. There's true degenerates out there, absolutely.

22:30

Um, speaking of the Super Bowl,

22:32

obviously the Rams are there. Now the story

22:35

Brandon Cooks supposedly

22:37

purposely dropped a pass from

22:40

Jared Goff before Greg's

22:43

our line came out and kicked the game winning field

22:45

goal in overtime to beat the Saints

22:47

and send the Rams to the Super Bowl. Now, had

22:50

he caught the pass, according

22:52

to those you know, to you know, everybody watching

22:54

it into the reports, you know, he likely

22:56

would have lost three or four yards, turning

22:58

what would have been a fifty seven yard field goal into

23:00

a sixty or sixty one yard field goal.

23:03

And so the Cook's supposedly purposely

23:05

dropped this pass before

23:08

the field goal was kicked. Um,

23:11

I thought of that. I saw this, and I thought about

23:13

all the PPR folks out there, who I'm

23:15

sure pulled their hair out when they

23:17

heard this story, because you know

23:19

it. Look but it was smart, I mean said,

23:22

he's like I called, I had a bad play call,

23:24

and Cook's kind of saved me on that one. It was one of

23:26

those It's one of those things where you

23:29

know, and I'm sure we could make a long,

23:31

long list of them where smart

23:34

football and fantasy football just butt

23:36

heads with one of them. Because it was a Westbrook

23:39

Maurice Jones drift, Todd Gurley sliding

23:41

down at the you guys sliding down at the one yard line

23:44

instead of scoring touchdowns to run clock. It's

23:46

one of those things where, like I'm sure that

23:48

you know, like I said, tactically it was the

23:50

right move. Zer Line probably would

23:52

have made it from sixty. I mean, the way he booted

23:54

that thing through, he probably still would have made it. But it

23:56

was a smart move that was nuked.

23:59

Oh he rushed it. He could have made that from maybe

24:01

seventy. It

24:03

was. It was no doubt like it hit

24:05

the air. I was like, that's going out. I wonder if it was just a matter

24:07

if it was straight. Is that where he injured himself too,

24:10

because he's been banged up a little bit. Was

24:12

a foot injury. I think that he's dealing with so

24:15

uh yeah, but I saw that. I

24:17

saw that headline and it made me laugh and I

24:19

thought of plenty of PPR enthusiasts

24:21

who probably like read that story and

24:23

pulled their hair out, screaming that even

24:26

if you lose a three yards, that's still points seven points

24:28

in the positive overall. So anyway, thought was

24:30

funny to me. And that's is pretty much

24:33

everything you need to know the

24:46

news all right, you

24:49

know, clean up your remote control

been using money said every day, it's great. I actually

25:34

did watch Three Identical Strangers, which

25:36

is fantastic. It was great.

25:38

And that's what I did. I I clicked a little Mike button, I

25:40

said, watch three identical Strangers and popped

25:43

up. Do you haven't set up like on Apple TV

25:45

or Roku Roku my Roku. I've

25:47

got my Xbox set up to it. I got the whole

25:49

thing. So, by the way, so so you know last

25:51

week how we talked about, you know, the five

25:54

movies that we always watch if it's

25:56

on TV. Jedi

25:59

was on. I watched that. I think Rocky

26:01

one and Rocky four were both on over

26:04

the last week, and true to form,

26:06

I had that. I watched them all. There you

26:08

go a shot now, just in time for Super Bowl

26:11

Sunday. Control Center with promo

26:13

26:21

26:23

Center by Cabo one Remote that does

26:26

It's all alright. Super Bowl

26:28

Sunday is just around the corner and

26:30

something means one last chance to

26:33

play some dfs for the

26:35

football folk out there. So

26:38

uh, I mean unless what they're they're no, they're

26:40

like they're no. The college All Star games right that,

26:42

I'm sure folks probably played dfs for those two,

26:44

but we're not talking about that. UM.

26:47

So I got some options here for you

26:49

guys, and uh kind of making it a multiple

26:52

or in either or rather, and you guys can

26:54

tell me which which of these two guys you would rather

26:56

have this week and maybe why

26:58

So first James White

27:01

or Sony Michelle. Which way are you guys going here?

27:03

And in DFS, I'm going I'm going James

27:05

White. James White like he

27:08

he literally had the greatest PPR

27:11

performance in the history of the

27:13

Super Bowl, in the history of the Super Bowl

27:15

because I wrote a column about the

27:17

fifty three Fantasy facts from the

27:20

history of the Super Bowl, and he has the

27:22

most points scored in a single

27:25

game. He had what four was it four teen

27:27

catches he had in that game. Um

27:29

and when the stage

27:31

is big, you know, James White typically

27:34

gets about Now. Sony Michelle has been a

27:37

DFS hero for fantasy fans during

27:39

the postseason because he has been getting a lot of

27:41

the work. He's been getting the goal line opportunities.

27:43

He's looked very good. And Uh,

27:46

in the playoff challenge, I

27:48

probably would side with Sony Michelle

27:50

because because the playoff challenges

27:52

not PPR, which hopefully that will

27:54

change it. So but

27:57

in DFS, I'd have to go with James

27:59

White. Uh, you're feeling the same, my Graham.

28:01

I think so too, that the Rams run

28:04

defense is kind of improved. I mean, they were one of the worst

28:06

in the regular season, they've become over the last

28:08

couple of games, they've been one of the better ones. They slowed down

28:10

Zeke, slowed down Ingram and Kamara.

28:13

Um, I don't. I mean, the Patriots

28:15

are just running the ball so so well out of their

28:17

twelve and one personnel packages. I

28:19

don't foresee them really truly slowing

28:21

down Michelle. But I'm with you. I think I think White's

28:24

the better play because I mean, do you really want to slam

28:26

the ball into Aaron Donald and Sue like

28:29

times where Sue is playing incredible right

28:31

now. So yeah, I think James White's to

28:33

play. Yeah, I think I think I would make that unanimous.

28:36

And I you know, I really do lean

28:38

on that point you made about the Rams run defense. And I

28:40

don't know if it's because they spent all season hearing

28:42

about how bad they were or what. I don't think

28:45

Wade Phillips cared about run defense during the

28:47

regular season and in his defense. That's fair, right,

28:49

No, it's true. I mean over the course of

28:51

sixteen games, you know, you don't really have

28:53

to focus on it quite as much because teams are going

28:55

to throw the ball more. But you're right with especially

28:58

with the teams they faced in the playoffs, when they

29:00

were going to see the Cowboys and knowing you know, what

29:02

camera and Ingram could do on the ground, they really

29:04

turned it up a notch and uh and they

29:06

really shut those teams downs. Playing so

29:08

well right now he's playing, I mean,

29:10

this is the best he's ever played well. And I also think part

29:12

of it, I don't think part of it is that watching

29:16

what the Patriots have done in the playoffs,

29:18

especially against the Chiefs, they

29:21

want to run the ball, they want to grind the clock, and they

29:23

want to keep that offense on the sideline. I mean, they

29:25

want that first possession against against

29:27

Kansas City, they took the ball for like half of

29:29

the first quarter and Mahomes are just sitting

29:31

there watching. So I think if

29:33

you're the Rams, that's the last thing you want

29:35

to do is watch Sony Michelle. You know, just

29:37

eat up chunks of yards, five, six, seven yards

29:39

at a time, and while while your offense is just sitting

29:42

there not doing anything about By the way, James

29:44

White forty seven point nine PPR

29:46

points in that game against Atlanta

29:48

when the Patriots made the historic comeback. Can

29:51

you guys name the

29:54

non quarterback who is second

29:56

in PPR points in a lone Super

29:59

Bowl game. It's actually a very easy

30:02

no. It's actually a very easy

30:05

answer because he is. He

30:07

has almost every

30:09

Super Bowl record at his position.

30:12

Jerry Rice. Yes, Jerry

30:15

Rice forty

30:17

two point nine against the then San

30:19

Diego Chargers. That game sucked, by the way,

30:21

That was an awful, awful super Bowl.

30:24

That was the game that I believe Steve Young

30:26

had six touchdowns and

30:28

Ricky Waters had a had a huge

30:31

had a huge game and that Super Bowl

30:33

as well. Yeah, okay, next

30:35

one, Robert Woods or Brandon

30:38

Cooks, Graham'll start with you. Is it is? You

30:40

know, are we looking the same way in terms of PPR

30:43

or or can Brandon Cook's makeup yardage

30:45

and touchdowns kind of even the gap there. It'll

30:47

be really interesting to see what the Patriots

30:49

do with their defensive backs this week, because we

30:51

know Belichick loves to shake it up. Um.

30:55

Robert woodsince Cooper Cup has gone down his run,

30:57

like seventy of his roots from the slot. England

31:00

during the regular season, at at the very least was

31:03

kind of shaky in terms of their slot receivers.

31:05

I think they gave up like the seventh or eighth most PPR

31:07

points to slot receivers during the regular season. I'll go

31:09

with was just because he's been so steady.

31:12

Um. I don't know what they'll do with

31:14

Cooks though, Like it would kind of make sense

31:16

for them to put Stefon Gilmore on him and play

31:18

press man coverage, but they could also just do

31:20

what they did to Tyree Kill and put J. C. Jackson

31:22

and play safety on top and just not let him get beat

31:25

over. Deep. Um, you're not digging the revenge

31:27

game narrative so

31:29

many now. I mean we've got back to back revenge.

31:32

Yes, yes, that's true now. But I'm Robert

31:35

Woods has been so he's just money man consistent

31:38

all season long. Hey

31:40

guys, where is Robert Woods drafted

31:42

in twenty nineteen. I think he's actually gonna be overdrafted,

31:45

to be honest with you. I mean I think he's gonna come off the board

31:47

and like the third or fourth round with

31:49

people forgetting the Cooper Cup is gonna come. That's

31:51

what I'm saying. Cups gonna end up

31:53

being the best bargain from the

31:55

Rams wide receiver. That was my thing.

31:58

This last year's Cooks went in the fourth round and Woods

32:00

and Cup we're going to seventh to es. I was like, cook,

32:03

just wait, just take one

32:05

of those two, and I write, no doubt. I think it'll be flipped

32:07

this year. I think Woods will go too early.

32:10

Cooks actually might go a little bit too late because he was

32:12

kind of quiet late in the year. You can I

32:15

know that we're going to talk about zero RB. I mean

32:18

during the course of the oppo station, you can almost go zero wide

32:20

receiver because then

32:22

you can go out and get Cup, Tyler

32:25

Lockett, dudes like that. I

32:27

mean, And with the imagine

32:29

having three three running backs

32:31

with your first three picks, it's like the old days,

32:34

Graham, back when I started playing

32:36

fantasy football, and I legit used to go three running

32:38

backs in the first three I'm just not gonna draft. I'm just like

32:40

I'm gonna I'm gonna zero draft and then just take

32:42

everybody off the waiver wire. That's gonna be my strategy

32:44

next year. All right, So looks like

32:47

Robert Woods gets the slight edge

32:49

here, all right, quarterbacks Tom

32:52

Brady or Jared Goffy.

32:57

So so when I no, no, because like when I when

33:00

I was doing the research and and

33:01

and Michael Florio and Matt Frederick helped me with

33:04

the research for this Super

33:06

Bowl column. If you

33:08

don't like the Patriots and you don't like Tom Brady,

33:10

don't read that column because it's all

33:13

Brady. Like. He has the most fantasy points

33:15

in the Super Bowl. Obviously because this is his ninth.

33:17

Think about that n freaking

33:20

nine super bowls. Like remember back in

33:22

the day, I mean you might not even been born

33:24

yet because you're a youngster, Graham. But like it

33:27

was like a big deal because Terry Bradshaw

33:29

was in four and oh my gosh, the

33:31

Steelers, not nine nine

33:33

super Bowls for this dude. Um,

33:36

and he has He's put up twenty plus

33:38

fantasy points in four different Super Bowls. Um.

33:41

He has the most passing

33:43

yards in a Super Bowl, which

33:45

actually was five hundred

33:48

and five last year, breaking

33:50

the record he said the previous year with

33:52

four sixties six. Brady

33:54

is playing in his ninth Super Bowl. That's

33:57

more games than he has played in

33:59

his career on the road in the playoffs.

34:02

That's ridiculous, Tom Brady, It's

34:04

ridiculous. After Sunday, Tom Brady will

34:06

have played in nearly sevent of

34:08

all supers. It

34:12

is so insane. And I mean, this

34:14

should be a pretty high

34:16

scoring affair. I would think,

34:19

yeah, I would think, I

34:21

don't know, Graham, you're going Brady? Are you going

34:23

golf? Yeah, I'm going Brady

34:25

because this game is over. If

34:27

the Patriots can pressure Jared Goff, I

34:30

will say, I don't know if it will be high scoring.

34:32

I really don't. I think both

34:35

defenses can match up

34:37

with their opposing offenses. I think you can

34:39

slow the Rams down right now because Girl is not

34:42

they don't have cup Um Trey

34:44

Flowers. Um in the Patriots

34:47

defensive line has been like maybe

34:49

low key one of the quietest best stories of this playoffs.

34:51

They're playing incredibly well, getting a ton of pressure.

34:54

I don't know. I think I think it's gonna be a really good

34:56

game. I think it should be. I'm going Brady over

34:59

it. To me, it's like like just

35:01

if you look at the last few Super Bowls, like

35:03

defenses have almost gone out the window

35:05

except for the Von Miller m VP season

35:08

when basically he wanted for the Broncos.

35:10

Peyton Manning didn't do that

35:12

basically, But I mean at thirty

35:15

three that

35:17

Super Bowl was born, the Seahawks

35:19

put forty three on the Broncos in the year before, who had

35:21

only eight points thirty four thirty one

35:23

Ravens Niners. Um, you

35:26

know, I just think these games tend to

35:28

this tend to go on the offensive side.

35:30

So you know, looking at like a twenty

35:32

eight twenty four final score game

35:35

total was sixteen, it's dropped like fifty

35:37

six and a half. Yeah, So I mean it dropped

35:39

like three and a half points, and that since it's opened,

35:41

that's a pretty big move. So all right,

35:43

Well you mentioned grhadma Todd Gurley

35:45

not being completely healthy. I mean he said

35:47

that it was an injury in the NFC Championship

35:50

game that he was just quote sorry, and that was

35:52

that was why he didn't see the ball a whole lot.

35:54

But that does lead

35:56

to what we expect from

35:58

Todd Gurley. I mean, I think most people look at this

36:01

and say, if he's not

36:03

himself or at least close to what we saw during

36:05

the season, that the Rams are going to struggle to win this football

36:07

game, fabs, do we expect to

36:09

see the Todd Gurley that we saw

36:12

earlier in the season, especially against Not only

36:14

is it about health, but also because the Patriots,

36:16

we know, you know, They're big thing is take away what

36:19

makes an offense great, and Todd Gurley is what

36:21

makes this offense great. Yeah, I mean, Sean

36:23

McVeigh is, you know, coach peak. Girly is

36:25

going to be a big part of the game. Of course, but

36:28

he did touch the ball just five times. I mean, think

36:30

about that, especially as fantasy

36:32

analysts were like, basically, we're praising Girly

36:34

all season long, then he gets hurt.

36:37

C J. Anderson comes in and

36:39

just does incredibly

36:41

well. Statistically for the Rams. They really

36:44

didn't miss a beat. You would think if

36:46

Girly is and

36:48

he's saying that this injury is not not

36:50

an issue right now, that he should get the

36:53

ball, you know, at least twenty times

36:55

in this contest. And I think CJ would

36:57

be okay with that, because I mean, he knows.

36:59

Todd Gurley is arguably

37:01

the best running back in the National Football League and a huge

37:03

part of the reason why the Rams have had so much success. Over

37:05

the last couple of seasons. So if

37:08

if he's out there, Man, I it

37:10

would be hard for me to think that Todd Gurley doesn't

37:12

get you know, at least fifteen

37:14

touches in this I have no expectations

37:17

for Todd Gurley. It would not

37:19

surprise me if we saw him only get seven carries

37:21

again and struggle. It would not surprise

37:23

me if we saw him get twenty carries go for a hundred and

37:25

thirty yards in absolutely,

37:27

I mean, just just based on how they're treating

37:29

this situation, how little we actually know. Um,

37:32

Gurley's not gonna say he's not healthy. Of

37:35

course McVeigh is not gonna say Todd Girl's not healthy.

37:37

Um, they don't have him on the injury report. That and then two weeks

37:39

after the Super Bowl we're here a report that he had to

37:41

have a scope. That's

37:44

always how it works. Yeah, you

37:46

know, Like I I think, I think we

37:48

will see a lot of him early

37:50

and I think we will know within the first brobably

37:53

on the first drive we'll get an idea

37:55

of of how healthy he is

37:57

and how effective he's going to be. Like I

37:59

mean early on in the NFC Championship game.

38:01

I mean he dropped a couple of passes, a couple of easy

38:04

passes that he normally catches. I mean one led to

38:06

an interception. One was just to drop I think on third

38:08

down. Um,

38:10

and you kind of had this feeling that something wasn't

38:12

right with him. And so I think we'll figure out really

38:15

really early how involved

38:17

Todd Gurley is going to be and Aton is going to have a big

38:19

key for how the Super Bowl game goes, so should

38:22

be fun. Well. Also, they I'll be watching

38:24

together and I'm sure we will talk about it plenty next

38:27

week, and you know, whatever it means for next

38:29

year, which is you know what it would make this game greater

38:31

than it already should be, is

38:33

if the Patriots went back and were the old white

38:36

jerseys with pat the Patriot on the helmet from the

38:40

That's what I'm saying. It would be awesome. Although you

38:42

know, the last time the Patriots wore that day

38:44

Super Bowl they got crushed by the Bear, so

38:46

I don't think they want to relive. And actually,

38:48

yeah, that's uh. That was the Tony

38:50

Eastern game where he just was awful. And then

38:52

Steve Grogan came in. Steve Grogan

38:55

of the Big bulky neck

38:57

pad right, Um, I

38:59

remember watch in that game. It was. That

39:01

was during the era where the NFC

39:04

was just dominated rushing the a

39:06

FC. It was ridiculous.

39:08

And as a Cowboys fan, I very much enjoyed some of those

39:10

games, although the Redskins were successful and some of the

39:12

Super Bowls and the Giants were as well. But that

39:15

was a fun era if you were an NFC fan,

39:17

because I mean, it didn't

39:19

matter who who, the the opponent

39:22

was John Elway and the Broncos doesn't

39:24

matter. Crushed well, I mean it was lost,

39:26

the Bills, Jim Kelly Thurman,

39:29

Thomas Andre Reid didn't

39:31

matter crushed. Did you imagine getting Super

39:34

Bowls and not winning a single? The Vikings

39:36

same thing, but the but the Bills basically

39:39

did it like in a very short period of

39:41

time, because no, you're

39:43

yeah, And do you remember

39:46

was it? Super Bowl thirty? Was thirty

39:48

where the Bills were actually ahead of the Cowboys

39:50

at halftime, and I was I

39:53

was nervous. I'm like, okay,

39:55

what the hell is going on here? And then in the second half

39:58

things turned around and Emmett Smith took over and that

40:00

was the end of that was

40:03

and that was the game. Now, there

40:06

was a lot of controversy, correct me if I'm

40:08

wrong that they gave the ball to William

40:10

the Refrigerator period the goal line score

40:13

instead of Walter Pat Walter Payton never got to score

40:15

a Super Bowl touch because they gave it to

40:17

the fridge. And it was one of the things that I know

40:20

that Mike Ditka said years later he sort of regretted

40:22

that he was he could go back, and he could go back and do it again.

40:24

He would have given Payton the football, uh

40:26

and let him score a touch. The Super Bowl Shuffle

40:28

were you doing? The Super Bowl Show was not Yeah, I mean

40:30

neither. It was nuts, although I think the Adam

40:33

Rank might still know the lyrics that was he

40:35

was a Rams fan at the time. At

40:37

the time, it was a Rams fan at the time, But I

40:39

remember, I don't remember if it was that season or

40:41

not. It might have been, but the

40:44

Bears killed the Cowboys

40:46

was like forty four to nothing, and I don't

40:48

remember. It might have been Otis Wilson who

40:50

like crushed our quarterback. I'm

40:52

not sure if it was Danny wider Steel, I'm not sure. Uh,

40:55

but that was not a good time for the for to

40:58

be a Cowboys fan. I go back there far too well.

41:01

Alright, so it's funny not to show you a

41:03

quick top five list for you guys,

41:05

because you know, the big part of the super Bowl obviously is

41:07

the super Bowl commercials. That's why we watched the game. You know, we

41:10

want to see what what's gonna be funny?

41:13

They have been, right,

41:15

they haven't really been all that greatly, haven't been all That's

41:17

been a couple of good ones. But so we're gonna

41:20

dip back into the past to some of the ones that

41:22

we remember and uh kind of put

41:24

together our little top five unofficial

41:26

top five list of our favorite all time

41:28

super Bowl commercial. So we'll start

41:30

at the far end of the table in the Grandma said, you've

41:32

got your phone out, so go for it. So wait a minute,

41:34

when was the first super Bowl that you watched? Was

41:37

that when? Because you can

41:40

jump in on this to the first super Bowl because it's

41:44

the two thousand super Bowl.

41:47

Yeah, well, so you started to paid the year I'm olding

41:50

of the Patriots kind of state. Actually I can remember the Rams

41:52

Titans to the one year the year before

41:54

that as well. Um or

41:56

was Rams Titans was Rams Tits nine?

42:00

I remember that one too. So I remember Rams Titans because

42:02

Warner and Falk were like, dude,

42:04

I'm so they were so good guy. Well,

42:07

Marcus here, I will say I went down a rabbit hole

42:09

because because of this Marcus, so last night I blew

42:11

like an hour. UM.

42:14

I will also say a lot of these commercials don't really

42:16

stand up. They don't. They don't resonate as much anymore.

42:18

So I I went into it like, oh

42:21

my god, one of the ones I remember that always blew

42:23

up. But you can, but you can't, you can't have anything.

42:27

Well, I don't remember him, that's not That's what I'm saying. I

42:30

remember the Budweiser What's Up? Commercial?

42:32

Remember everybody did that. Afterwards I went back

42:34

and watched him like this is just obnoxious.

42:36

So that I went into this putting wanting

42:39

to put that on my list ended up at five. UM.

42:41

I did always enjoy the each Rade Talking Baby.

42:43

That was my number thought. I thought that was a great marketing

42:46

plan. The Budweiser Donkey

42:48

Clydesdale would be mine. Remember

42:51

my number tried real hard and became be

42:54

my number three. Um. One of the reason ones

42:56

I actually did enjoy and this isn't really I

42:58

mean, it's kind of on this list.

43:00

But I did really enjoy the Tired commercial last

43:02

year too. I thought that was really good with David

43:05

Hopper, the guy guy who plays Hopper fun.

43:07

Oh yeah, I cannot remember, um,

43:10

but that I thought that was a good one. My favorite one ever,

43:12

though, it's the Oreo Cookies and Cream

43:14

commercial because that's always the great internal debates

43:16

David like Harbor by the way, David Harper,

43:18

Yes, because because the

43:21

character, right, But my favorite one ever is the Oreos

43:24

Cookies and Cream alright, because they're

43:26

in that they're in that liberry and they'd just start yeah,

43:29

uh, what's the first of all you remember, fabbs is

43:32

the nineteen Uh it was for the nineteen

43:34

eighties season. It was the Raiders Eagles.

43:37

Okay, yeah, Raiders Eagles, uh,

43:39

and the Raiders won that game. Jim

43:41

Plunkett was the m v P. And

43:43

that's when I started to get like big time into football.

43:46

So the following year and I became a Cowboys

43:48

fan because they were always on television. My cousins

43:50

were Cowboys fans, and um, you

43:53

remember that was like that stretch where the Cowboys lost

43:55

three consecutive NFC Championship games with

43:57

Danny White. Who was It was Danny White and Tony

43:59

Dorset for me, who were the two big guys that I loved,

44:02

Although I you know, I loved at two Dall Jones, like

44:04

all the guys at Harvey Martin, Randy White, I mean I love

44:06

them all, but Danny White,

44:08

Tony Dorsett. I love those two players, uh,

44:11

growing up. And so remember

44:13

the following year was the catch where

44:15

we lost on that catch, and

44:18

um, that was my first real heartbreak as a sports

44:20

fan because I thought the Cowboys

44:23

were going and against the I said, We're gonna whip the

44:25

Bengals, you know, and I'm what eight two,

44:27

um, you know, eight or nine years old? And

44:30

um, so that was That's as

44:32

far back as as I go. So I go back. I

44:34

go back quite a ways. So my top five

44:37

number five, uh the

44:40

Budweiser Frogs Bud because

44:44

I I just thought it was creative. I

44:47

liked it a lot. Um and uh,

44:49

I remember that one. I remember. The number

44:52

four would be the nineteen eighties four Wendy's Where's

44:54

the Beef commercials with the three old ladies Where's

44:56

the Beef? Remember that they've run those

44:58

long and but there's so memorable.

45:00

The third one is the one that tugs at

45:02

my heartstrings the most. It was two thousands and two Budweiser

45:05

commercial with a tribute to September

45:07

eleven. And I actually get a little choked

45:09

up even thinking about it because it choked me up when I saw

45:11

it, which is when the Clydesdales were were,

45:14

you know, sort of marching through the city. They

45:16

marched across the bridge and then they went

45:18

down on one knee in front of the Statue of Liberty Um.

45:21

That that was the That was the most.

45:24

That one just tug at my heartstrings

45:26

as a as a guy who lived in New York and

45:28

and is from from you know, the the Tristate area.

45:31

Number two. Cindy

45:34

Crawford, dude,

45:37

she was it back

45:40

in the day. I mean, yeah, she still

45:42

looks great, but I mean Cindy

45:44

Crawford were in the Daisy Dukes

45:47

and the white tank top, oh

45:50

my goodness, gracious, and the two boys watching her

45:53

and their and their response was something

45:55

like you know that new pepsi cans beautiful.

45:59

So n Crawford and a belief she drove

46:01

up. It was in like a Ferrari or something like that. So it just

46:03

had everything for me. And Number one, this

46:05

is the most famous super Bowl commercial of all time,

46:07

and I don't know that there's there's an alternative.

46:09

Number one is me and Joe Green You

46:11

want my coke? Right right? Which

46:14

is super Bowl commercial?

46:16

Right, but it was. And then me and Joe Green's

46:18

you know, pounds down the uh,

46:21

the the coke much like Akbard does with water,

46:24

pounds the whole thing, and then me and Joe gives

46:27

him the jersey. How much money do you think Coke has made

46:29

off that at I mean,

46:31

they still play it so much and year

46:34

and it's been spoofed so many times in so many

46:36

different ways. Yeah. Absolutely kN

46:38

what's the first Super Bowl you remember remember watching?

46:41

I was pretty young, but I remember the Steelers

46:43

Cowboys playing in nineties six because

46:46

you know, in Pittsburgh the

46:48

big deal and the

46:50

Steelers, you know, we're four and oh

46:52

all time and super Bowls up until that point, they beat

46:54

the Cowboys twice. Don't remind me,

46:57

don't you remember? So you don't remember

47:00

the catch that should have been and wasn't Jackie

47:02

Smith And I've seen it

47:05

dropped that now.

47:07

I wasn't watching football. At the time, but

47:10

you know that

47:11

one, that one to

47:14

break the hearts of cowboys face.

47:16

But what annoyed me is the guy who had

47:18

the big interceptions. Last name was Brown. My

47:21

last name is Brown, and so I'm taking

47:23

crap at school and things like that. They're

47:26

like Brown costs the game, and I'm like, I didn't do

47:28

anything about it. But I remember, like I was

47:30

dressed like I had like you know, I think that that

47:32

fall I was Neil O'Donnell for Halloween

47:34

and that stuff, and yeah, it just

47:37

it was disappointing. So that's really my first memory

47:40

watching the super Bowl. And then really the first one I remember

47:42

kind of knowing the full game and grasping

47:44

everything probably was that Titans Ram

47:46

super Bowl because it went down to the final play.

47:49

Up until then, it was like all blowouts mainly,

47:51

So that was really the first one I remember that was actually

47:53

like exciting down to the wire where

47:56

I can like remember exactly where I was

47:58

sitting when that final play happened. The other

48:00

part about that that ninety six games that Larry

48:02

Brown ended up getting a big contract that and

48:05

never did anything, never did anything

48:07

ever didn't and and you know that

48:09

that game obviously the most famous play was

48:11

it was it Kevin Dyson at the goal

48:14

line and I think it was Mike Mike Jones. Mike

48:16

Jones tackles and which by the way, would not have won

48:18

the game. They needed that in the intra point a tie that

48:20

would have I would have sent it to overtime. Yes,

48:23

shout out Jeff Fisher. Yeah right,

48:25

Jeff Fisher lived off that. Yeah, I was just anymore.

48:31

I'd say the first Super Bowl that I remember

48:34

was uh the January

48:36

of e d four into the eight three season when

48:38

the Raiders became because I remember

48:42

Marcus Allen run was one of the first football

48:44

players that I have a memory of um

48:46

in that game, just watching him go one way, turning

48:49

around and going the other way. And you know, Marcus Allen

48:52

for a long into this day, might still be my favorite

48:54

all time NFL player one because I mean,

48:56

obviously he was awesome, but yeah,

48:58

he was howesome. He was smart. He was one of the first

49:01

other people in the world that I knew of named Marcus

49:03

when I was a kid, So like, you know that

49:05

that just made it great. I would say, one quick foot. I didn't

49:07

meet him once in college. He was on campus

49:09

at usc signing a book doing a book signing,

49:12

and I bought two copies, one from me, one from my dad.

49:14

And I was like standing in line, thinking of what

49:16

can I say to this guy who's been my you know, football

49:18

hero. And I got to the front online I'm like, my

49:20

name is also Mark, Like, oh my god.

49:23

When I when

49:25

I worked at CBS, I met Marcus a

49:27

few times, and he would always call me

49:29

sports Line number

49:31

one because he probably didn't remember my name, but

49:33

he would always call me sports Line because

49:36

when I met these guys. You know, this is in

49:38

the infancy of when fantasy football was, you know, we're

49:40

starting to come up. I was always trying to get

49:42

these guys in celebrity leagues because I wanted to start

49:44

to pump up because I ran it was called the

49:46

Gridiron Guru League, and I ran it had like Dan

49:48

Marino was in Boomer sign was saying, and I was always

49:50

trying to get guys. I was trying to get Marcus down. He would he

49:52

never got involved in it, but he always

49:55

used to call me sports line. Interesting

49:57

to Marcus Allen. People don't realize

49:59

how involved he was with that whole O. J. Simpsons,

50:01

Oh yeah, oh, no, I think a lot of people

50:03

do. I mean, well, right, but

50:06

I mean if you yeah,

50:08

they were very good friends. Well, and there's

50:10

also some rumors about him and uh

50:12

Nicole Brown Simpson. So yes,

50:15

but that in that run one

50:17

of the great runs in the history of

50:19

the Super Bowl. If you're young and you've

50:21

never seen it, go on YouTube and watch

50:24

it. It's amazing. It's

50:26

amazing. Can't you said you had a stat

50:28

for us? Yeah? Yeah. You guys mentioned earlier about

50:30

the NFC winning all those consecutive Super

50:32

Bowls it waste, and

50:36

eleven of those were by ten points or more.

50:38

So only two of those were even close. Was the

50:41

Niners Bengals one, and that was

50:43

a great super Bowl, and then so

50:45

good and then and then of course the missed kicked by

50:47

the Bills against the Yeah Norwood and

50:50

I can remember the score is still like it was like forty

50:52

six ten was Bears Patriots,

50:55

and then the Niners won like

50:59

against the bron goes in l way the

51:02

Cowboys right

51:05

when he and that was one of the close

51:07

ones. Yeah, the Cowboys. It was was fifty

51:10

two to seventeen, I believe, and

51:12

it would have been the biggest margin

51:14

of victory. He not gotten

51:17

cute at the goal line and Don Bby knock out.

51:20

Yeah. So that, by

51:23

the way, that that Niners game was also the John Candy

51:25

game. Oh that's right where John

51:27

where Joe Montana says, John Candy

51:30

said, that's that's how cool. He was. All

51:32

right, big stage, Super Bowl,

51:35

everything's on the line, and he sees

51:37

John Candy in the stands

51:39

and talks about that in the huddle real quickly.

51:42

Alright, so my my five Super Bowl commercials

51:44

where we get out of here. Number five Terry

51:46

Tate office linebacker. Oh,

51:49

I remember that one guy, which for a while I

51:51

thought was Terry Crews, but apparently it's not. It's a different

51:53

guy. I had to go back and watch it again. He crushed

51:55

guys. Maybe that was Akbar's inspiration when

51:57

he did that to Matt Money money a few

52:00

Number four is the Volkswagen

52:03

Darth Vader commercial trying

52:06

to make things move and then finally his dad like pushes

52:08

the remote buttons on the car. That

52:11

was kid freaks out. That was pretty good.

52:14

Number three was the Larry Bird

52:16

Michael Jordan's horse commercial for Mcdonalddonald's

52:20

You know that was good. Off the wall, off the floor, off

52:22

the seat, nothing but net number

52:24

two, just because it's iconic

52:26

was the Apple four. You

52:28

know, woman runs into a sledgehammer and smashes

52:31

the TV. Because it was like the first

52:33

big time ad that they spent a lot

52:35

of money on, like Ridley Scott directed it, and

52:38

it only aired once like all these other commercials

52:40

you saw over and over again, that aired

52:42

one time, and that was it. Uh Number

52:44

one is is Cindy Crawford for

52:46

me? Just because you know she she helped a

52:48

lot of us. Uh so? And

52:53

then wait and then do you remember she was in that movie?

52:55

And it was with Billy Baldwin.

52:58

Okay, and I don't remember for the name of it, and

53:00

I'm gonna look it up right now. I'm gonna but

53:03

she uh it

53:05

was. I believe it was a rated R movie, let's put it that

53:07

way. And that was one of those movies where

53:10

anybody and everybody who had a crush

53:12

on Cindney Crawford and we

53:14

all had a crush on Sidney Crawford went

53:17

out and saw that movie fair Game

53:20

It's called And the movie itself

53:22

was terrible. It got a twelve percent raining

53:24

on Rotten Tomatoes. It was awful,

53:27

but but you

53:29

got to see more of Sidney Crawford than you probably

53:32

Rotten Tomatoes is worse than the Sherlock Holmes

53:35

movie that Will Ferrell and probably

53:37

probably is. All Right,

53:41

that'll do it. We are done. Wait

53:43

a minute, what let's give Super

53:45

Bowl predictions? Okay,

53:47

okay, do it. You want to go

53:49

first? You want to start us off? Yeah,

53:52

Sadly, I think the Patriots are gonna wind.

53:55

I have a feeling that it's going to be one of those games

53:57

kind of like with Grahm said earlier, they get pressure

53:59

on off, they forced the Rams

54:01

to kind of get out of their ways early, and

54:04

then they maybe hold on at the end. So I'll

54:06

say Patriots win thirty

54:08

one to Okay,

54:12

go ahead, same same thing. You stole all my lines.

54:15

I'm gonna pick it Patriots.

54:18

Um. I think the game goes under. I think it kind

54:20

of gets sloppy at times, and I think they get if

54:22

we all go Patriots, it's gonna be the Rams. I'm

54:24

going Patriots close

54:27

game. Uh, Rams are going

54:29

to be able to find success on the ground,

54:32

but I do believe the Patriots are going to be

54:34

able to force Jared Goffin know a couple of our overs.

54:37

I'm gonna I don't know if I'm making this with my head or my heart,

54:39

but I'm gonna go Rams here. I think the Rams

54:42

in my heart, I'm because c J for

54:44

the Rams in a close games,

54:46

one of us pulled it off in a close game.

54:48

It'll be back and forth. I think that, you know. I

54:50

think the Patriots get the first punch in, but I think, sort

54:53

of like the Rams did in the NFC Championship

54:55

game, they weather the storm. And I think

54:57

I think what we will see is Jared

55:00

Golf moving the ball down the field late, getting

55:02

the game winn. I don't know if it's a touchdown or a field goal,

55:04

but gets the game winning score. I think, I think, you

55:06

know, we'll answer a lot of questions about Jared

55:08

Goff. I think it'll be the sort of the Sean

55:11

McVeigh coming to the taking over the throne

55:13

as the you know, the new wonder kind officially

55:16

in the National Football League. And I think it's maybe

55:18

the changing of the guard. I think it's Look, I don't know

55:20

if this is the end of the Patriots dynasty. I have no idea,

55:22

but every year think but if

55:25

it is, I think it's fitting that it book ends

55:28

with the Rams. It starts with the rams, it potentially

55:30

ends with the rams. So you know, time is a

55:32

flat circle. Yeah. And by the way, the Patriots

55:34

were I believe, I believe were they

55:36

at two touchdown

55:39

because I think it was like ten points. Yeah,

55:41

that was double digits. That was the game. Where

55:43

before the game winning field goal by Vinitary

55:47

which who's still playing in the NFL particulate,

55:50

but I remember that that drive started. The Patriots

55:52

had the ball backed up and John Madden said,

55:54

you know, they should just taking me and play for over

55:57

time. I don't think they can move the ball. They should just take

55:59

ane, sit on it, go to over time and take their

56:01

chances. Brady moved the ball down the field. That

56:03

can google some of some of

56:05

the kicks that vine Terry has made during his career

56:07

in the playoffs. I mean, goodness, gracious that they

56:09

talked about the Raiders in the snow. Um

56:12

unreal. And actually Stephen Gostkowski

56:14

has a shot to tie Vinytarius

56:16

record for field goals made in a

56:18

Super Bowl. Um they I believe

56:21

believe Vinytarry has seven career Gostkowski

56:23

has five right now, so he could tie or

56:25

surpass another big snow kick last

56:27

year, wasn't. Then they play a game in Buffalo, Yes,

56:30

super of them. I mean unreal,

56:32

how I mean that guy is That guy is going into the Hall

56:34

of Fame, no doubt about, no

56:37

doubt. So there we go. So we got three

56:39

paths one Ram.

56:41

So Marcus, I hope we'll see with all intensive

56:44

purposes, I hope you're right. I

56:47

don't have, like, I don't have a rooting interest except

56:49

for like CJ is a good friend of mine, so I hope he wins

56:52

because that would and you know what that would be like you

56:54

want to talk about the capper, like on a

56:56

Cinderella sort of story. If

56:58

c J, who didn't get any burning

57:00

Carolina out, signs

57:03

with what the Raiders, doesn't work out

57:06

there all of a sudden he's on the street again,

57:08

finally ends up with the Rams,

57:11

and if he goes out and has a big

57:13

game, you know, like I I

57:16

hope, I hope that that happens for

57:18

him and he has a good game and the Rams win. I'm

57:20

a Cowboys fan. I don't have I don't have a dog

57:22

in the fight. I don't care, but like

57:24

I want to see a good game, and just for c JSON,

57:26

I hope that the rams point. Definitely. I think we all want to see a good

57:28

game, so we'll see. We'll see what happens. We appreciate

57:31

it as always, we are done. Appreciate you listening.

57:33

Remember tell two friends to tell to friends rate

57:36

review and remember if the super Bowl

57:38

is really the ultimate game, why do they play it again next

57:40

year? Enjoy the game. We'll see you next week.
